I've tried to alter my between meal snacks--it used to be whatever I could find, now I will have a Kashi trail mix bar, 7 grain toast with almond butter or low fat string cheese. I have found that a bit of protein in a snack goes a long way.

I use mild salsa instead of salad dressing. Much lower in calories and it adds more veggies.

I use CrystalLight almost every day which is new for me but not necessarily a replacement. I do not drink juices and I don't eat fast food hamburgers and haven't for many years. I can't say I actually "replaced" anything. I've been eating items like yogurt and turkey bacon, for years. Overall, I eat what I want. For me, it's all about frequency and portion size.

I've almost completely replaced diet soda with water flavored with MiO. The sweet tea flavor (diluted...I only use about half what they recommend for a serving) makes it much easier for me to get my water in for the day. I can not stress this enough. And MiO is so convenient you can take it anywhere--when you're at a restaurant, save money by ordering water and then flavoring it yourself!

I keep raisins (the 2 lb. round cans) in the house at all times. When I crave something sweet, I hit those first. Much healthier!

I've also been using the Flat Out flatbreads for wraps. They have at least 5 or 6 different flavors of them and I swear my husband and I could eat them every night! I usually put lettuce, some chopped up grape tomatoes and cucumbers in them as well as chopped chicken breast or sliced turkey and some shredded cheddar. Healthy and nummy!

I've replaced potato chips (or crisps) with rice crackers.
Still high in salt but much lower in fat.



Height 163cm = 5 foot 4 inches.
Highest weight 81 kilos = 178.6 lb, Dec 2005.
SP Start Weight 8th July 2006 78 kg = 172 lb
HALF WAY 17th September 71.5 kg = 157.6 lb
June 2007 reached original goal 65 kg = 143 lb
July 2007, 62 kilos = 136.7 lb
December 2008 72 kilos = 158.7 pounds.
December 2009 78 kilos = 172 pounds!!! Going the WRONG way!
December 2010 77 kilos = 170 pounds.

Snacks consist of fresh or dried fruit.
We drink mostly water, occasionally a cup of decaf coffee, and herbal teas.
We try to stay away from processed foods whenever possible.

What are some healthy replacements that you have incorporated into your meals and snacks?

For instance, I used to water down my 100% juice with 50% water. Now I have replaced it completely with herbal tea in the fridge.
No sugar
No calories
Added health benefits of herb tea
Yummy way to get my fluids/water in me
