Laura - How exciting for your daughter! And you too! you must be proud.

I am having two dinners. Going to MIL's first. They eat early around 1 ish and then I am going to my family they eat dinner around 5 - 5:30ish. The best part is I don't have to cook, just eat! I have got to remember portion control.

1 - Do a minimum of 30 minutes of cardio a day, plus 15 minutes of strength 3 times a week
2 - stay within my calorie range
3 - reach my goal weight of 140 by the end of April 2010

Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.

I am not on a diet - I am living a healthy life

My daughter is marching in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. She goes to Towson University and they are the only college band in the parade. Look for her - she is the shortest (Shar can relate!) trombone player! The band is after the Winter Wonderland Float and before the Smurf Balloon. They are supposed to hit the NBC cameras around 11:43. We are driving up to NY around midnight Wed., hoping to find a place to park that's not too far away, watching the parade with other Towson parents and then driving home (5 hours each way). Our Thanksgiving dinner will be snacks in the car!!!

I so want to be a couch potatoe !!! I will be going to the next town early in the morning to help my aunt and mom get ready to feed my entire family. I went over the "dish list" with my mom. Everyone is supposed to bring something and I have no idea what to make yet. The list was everything that she and my aunt have already prepared for... it was everything. Appetizers, main course, desserts... I looked at my mom and said "what else is there?" She said, "those sweet little pickles.. and i'm having Dad pick those up tomorrow." Then she just looked at me with a sneaky grin.... in other words.. figure it out yourself Des... k... so I did Emeril's spiced nuts year before last... and did Rachel Ray's sausage skewers last year... maybe something interesting from Paula Dean??? I did her BLT dip like three years in a row... always a big hit!!! Maybe something from Mr.Bobby Flay?? emoticon

My husband, one son and I will be joining my extended family (Mom, sisters, in-laws, neices, nephews & great neices & nephews) at my sister's house for a Thanksgiving meal. We all share in bringing the food. I'm going to be taking a few SP recipes just to have some healthier alternatives. I won't tell anyone, though! What they don't know won't hurt them, and they won't be able to tell! I plan to exercise that morning, maybe do a little more just to enjoy the day at little more!

I am flying back to NH to be with my wonderful husband and we are having dinner at DD#2's apartment. How great is that? Being with hubby and not having to cook?????

What are your plans this year? Are you cooking a dinner for lots or just a few? Are you going somewhere or staying home? Are you swapping some high-fat/high calorie recipes for healthier ones? Will you get any exercise in on this day or will you be a couch potato?

Black Bean "Hummus"
Submitted By: SP_STEPF

This dip doesn't have many of the same ingredients as hummus, but it is about the same consistency. I spread this on bread or tortillas with vegetables for a quick sandwich, I dip carrots and celery into it, and I eat it with tortilla chips for a snack. Full Recipe
