Hello Memphis!

If anyone is interested, there's 2 5k run/walk coming up this month. One is this Friday at 7:00 p.m.- the Harbortown race and the other is next Saturday, at 7 p.m. - the Gibson guitar 5k run/walk. You can register at racesonline.com.

Also, on Mondays and Wednesdays morning at 6:00 a.m., if anyone would like to meet and run in the whitehaven area. I'll be running/walking the Polly Williams Park on Auburn St., near Raines Rd.

I'm intimidated too, so we can start slow lol. At the moment, I have no job, so I'm free almost whenever. We can go by your schedule because I know mine is quite dead and uneventful right now. There's a park on Stage Rd. by the bowling alley and old library (Stage and Alturia, if you know where that is) that's only a half mile around, so it's good for beginners. Just let me know!

I live in Raleigh, very close to Covington Pike and Stage so meeting up in Barlett would be perfect for me. I want to get into running but I'm a little intimidated. I'm willing to give it a try. I haven't been living in Memphis long so I don't know where a good place would be. When's good for you?

Summer's almost here, so there's not much more time to shape up!! Anyone want to meet up in the next few weeks? I'm in Midtown, but I also travel to the Bartlett area quite often. I'm a beginning runner (the longest I can run consecutively is around 4 minutes) but if anyone wants to meet up I'm available!

It looks like I'm going to have to change the time to earlier. My son called on yesterday and I've got to go to Dyersburg that day, which is a 2 hour drive. I want to get there about 1:00 so have to leave at about 11:00.

Leah, we are in the same place. Sandra (Slimmerin2006) has been training me.Her minimum is 6 miles running straight. I am at 3 min. running, 2 min. walking. So we can do it together when you are available. Sandra is a fantastic trainer!

Shelby Farms is fine with me. I've never worked out there, only gone to Farmer's Market. So, I wouldn't know where to meet.

I can't do this weekend, but maybe soon! I would love to go running/walking/jogging in Shelby Farms! I've never even been there...

I'm still a beginner runner, doing intervals not longer than 2 minutes at a time, mixed with walking.

We have been sporadic in getting together. I'm hoping that we get an organized group soon to meet regularly. That is one of the team's goals. If you have any suggestions, let's hear it.

We are different levels, some walkers and some runners, all at different speeds. Organizing this so that everyone gets a workout out is the key. Coach Higgenbotham (sp?) does it, so I know it's not impossible.

Leah, yeah we've talked about it before. A few of us have met up at local 5k runs this year, and have met downtown on riverside for a Saturday run. We've also talked about meeting at Shelby Farms. I'm all up for it, for some weekends. However I'll be out of town for 2 1/2 weeks starting next week.
