I love oatmeal, and peanut butter on any fruit. I also like tomatoes and cucumbers cut up in balsamic vinegar. I am too lazy to cut all the veges up sometimes. You can dip them in the vinegar. I also like chicken salad with lots of crunchy celery.

Allow light into your heart and home everyday.

i either buy old-fashioned oats or oat bran.
course, you could buy oat groats (which contains both) or mix the first ones up. 3 tablespoons of oat bran keep you full for 4 hours, 3 tablespoons of oats 2-3 hours. they taste the same, but the bran doesn't require any chewing.

I eat oatmeal and it fills me but I am usually hungry in a very quick time...is it that I am eating the wrong one? I eat toasted oats.

i enjoy fruits when i need a snack. i usually don't snack though, because i'm too busy and even when i'm not, my breakfast prevents me from nibbling. yeah, oatmeal works like a charm!
However, when i'm home during weekends and i'm waiting for the food to cook (as a vegan i eat legumes daily, and cooking them requires a sh*tload of time) and get really hungry, i'll have some fruit and tahini (sesame paste. 8g of fat per Tspoon, but it is precious fat and it comes with proteins, calcium and iron to name just a few). just a teaspoon will do the job. If you need more, go, but try not to have more than 1 tablespoon. You can end up overindulging. Tahini is very filling, and i also have it for dinner some times, along with some pita bread, veggies and/or fruits. When i wake up in the morning, i won't feel hungry for 3-4 hours, even if i don't have breakfast (i always do, but i want you to know how helpful it is for me).

all these others have suggested great snacks , I just figured out this year if I keep my protein high then I don't crave carbs near as bad. I also wanted to tell you that if you love PB then I would try PB2 its a low fat substitute for PB . You can order it from bell plantation if you can't find it in stores ! I love it on celery and in recipes and added to vanilla protein shakes !

make sure you get protein at breakfast also !

I have found that if I eat oatmeal (with a Tbsp. of peanut butter) for breakfast I am good until lunch time. It is filling and good for you!
Greek Yogurt, carrots, apples...anything I can "graze" on and not have many calories is always a plus for me.
Good luck on your quest to find good snacking foods!

Thanks Cerulean for the ideas. Olivia I don't live in the US or the UK lol but I really want to stay away from the prepackaged stuff as much as I can. I am also seeing suggestions of spicing stuff up with peanut butter and I have actually seen that before so i will try that...just hope I don't start binging on it because I LOVE peanut butter.

It is great to have breakfast but I find if I include all the fiber protein etc in the meal it adds up to more than 800 calories. I figured out the question to my answer before I even asked it...reduce portions

emoticon so much guys! YOU ARE emoticon

The thing that has helped me the most, is eating a good healthy breakfast. It's also the first thing that I did to change my eating habits. If I don't eat something protein/fiber filled, it doesn't matter what snacks I'm eating I'll be hungry.

I found that pretty much anything I try to eat for a snack that is pre packages ends up being pretty bad for me and if it is healthy or low in calories it never ends up being enough for me to feel satisfied. Even a low/non fat yogurt often doesn't do it for me so I have started to add a little healthier granola to my yogurt but pretty much every other snack I have has to be fresh fruit (apples mostly) or veggies. Good luck

I like to make my fruit more interesting sometimes with a wee bit of peanut butter. I also have boiled egg, olives, low-fat yoghurt.
I get these little snack packs delivered from a company called Graze, if you're in the UK you could check that out. Ooh I just checked their website and apparently they're launching in the US soon so if you're over there you can keep an eye out for it!

So after not gaining for weeks I find I am actually gaining weight now even though I exercise consistently (5 days cardio, 3 days ST). Yeah I see myself toning up but I want to be smaller..I must admit. This has convinced me about the importance of BOTH diet and exercise to weight loss.

My diet hasn't changed much since I started here and I want to change that. So I am starting small with my snack choices...why there because I know I have more control over these choices than the main meals. Forgive my babbling.

I am just here to ask about healthy snacking ideas...right now my snacking include Ocean Spray Craisins (100 calorie pack which has 18g of sugar emoticon ...so much for thinking that was healthy), Nature valley bars and the occasional (well more than occasional) cream filled biscuit binge. I can substitute with fruit, apple, grapes, oranges, bananas (those are all I have readily available where I live). Any other ideas?

Thanks so much for the help
