okay, I got new shoes for my fitness class but no running shoes. The city was crowded like heck.. shopping is noooooo fun.. ;)

since some idiot stole my gymbag out of my car (and I am still furious about it!!) it is time to get some new shoes today. After work I will get some special running shoes.. I definetly want to give it a try once more.. it cannot be THAT hard, right? ;)
A colleague of mine recommended me the store he gets his for years now. They measure your foot and analyse your running "style".. well, they are in a surprise with mine.. lol

Ooo!!! Is it too late to join? I wanna play!!!

So there are only 11 weeks left but I really want to go to Saugatuck, MI where my husband and I had our first date. Saugatuck is 158 miles away so that puts me at just under 15 miles a week. It's a challenge but I can do it!!!! I suppose the point of a challenge is to be challenged though, right?

Plus, I'm going on a big trip in August to the Canadian Rockies (My husband turns 40 on August 10th and he wants to be in his favorite place in the world when the milestone happens) and I want to actually be able to do some hiking!! This challenge will be great to push myself to get in hiking condition

it is SNOWING today, and I think all the plow truck drivers in my county got laid off because not a single road had been plowed until I crossed the county line on my way to work today. Thank heavens for the treadmill.

you don't have to understand the words, just take a look at the pictures. Does anyone of those people look like they would need to loose weight? Especially the girl with the measuring tape? On the contrary, she looks a bit starved to me.

Why don't they use those people who really need a coaching like that?? Really, I get soooooo annoyed when I see this.

@Sarah: your trail sounds wonderful. Scotland is top priority on my list of places I want to see. I would love to go hiking there!

Well I think that I have come up with a suitable walk for myself, I live in Scotland UK I thought that I would do the Scottish national trail which covers the length of Scotland starting in the borders and heads all the way up north to cape wrath, this is over 400miles long and covers some really wild country, its a path I would really like to cover, I plan to do my usual 4 - 5 miles a day so I should be at the Cape by the given date.. I will try and find some photos and start an on going blog on my route happy walking everyone

I'm in ! I have always wanted to go to the French Quarter in New Orleans. That is 95 miles which would be a mile a day. My knees would like that location. If I can talk them into more, I'll walk on over to New Iberia, LA. It is 224 miles or about 2.5 miles a day. I use to read a series of books located there and I have always wanted to go there, too.

This is right up my alley! I'm scheduled to start a walking plan to get ready for the susan g komen 3 day walk I'm scheduled to do in october. (60 miles in 3 days.....yup gonna require training lol). Though I'm thinking of changing the challenge just a bit. There isn't really anywhere I want to go within walking distance. However, the appalachian trail is pretty dang close and I have always wanted to hike that. So instead of walking to my destination, im going to start at the beginning of the trail in georgia and hike a goal distance on the actual trail instead of using part of my miles to get there. Since my "vacation would be an active trip anyways. Any objections?

Wow this is a really great challenge, I will have a think about where I could walk to and re read what you put here for the challenge (just to make sure I have read it right!!!) I usually manage about 30 to 40 miles a week so I should be able to get quite a long way over a few weeks!! I will get back to you all with a blog on how my walk will look... hold tight

I'm going to join also! There's really nothing absolutely cool around here to walk to so I'm setting my goal to walk to Little Sahara at Waynoka OK. It's 95.6 miles if you take the long route (which also takes you by the Great Salts Plains in northern Oklahoma). I think I can do it! emoticon

okay, I found a goal and have posted my blog ;)

I'll walk to Lugano, Switzerland... if I am really good, I will make it to Milan, where I lived a while ago. And if I make it there, I will even take the stairs up the Duomo.. I did that once and am happy, that I survived.. lol

I want to join too..I've been in a back slide and fighting my way out. I've done good for the past few weeks so hopefully this will be JUST WHAT I NEED!!

If I do 15 miles Per week that's 195 miles in 13 weeks. I looked on Google map and found that Emerald Isle, NC is pretty close to that amount; so with some more searching I found that there is a Bed & Breakfast by the Sea (Just in time for summer). emoticon

It's 170 miles which leaves some Beach walking to do when i get there. There are some challenges along the way as well (Just like life; so I should have fun blogging about it as well).
3/25 -.5 mile
3/26 -1.5 mile
3/27-1 mile
3/28 2.5 miles (5.5 miles total for week)not counting regular steps or ALL the steps at the beach house emoticon I did those atleast 15 times a day!

@Earthsmile: if you hate to walk then get a FitBit or any other counter for your steps.
It really helped me to increase my daily average. I still don't get 10,000 steps on my "no-workout-days" and I still have lazy weekends with barely 1,000 steps a day. But I increased my average from lazy 2,000 to "almost active" 5,000. And on my workout days I easily get over 10,000.

Ok, I really need to walk more. The place I want to go is too far. I'd have to walk 100 mile a day; Alaska. So I will choose Key West, Fl. it is 188 miles away. In my head it is about 14 miles a week.

This is good for me because I hate walking. emoticon

OOOO this one is so me. I am trying to get back into it and 2 miles a day 4 days a week is my goal. Over 13 weeks that is a total of 104 miles. The Cleveland Museum of Art and the Museum of Natural History are 107 miles away if you take the long path (only 102 if you go the short way and still have a couple miles left to walk around the places). So I am going to use the long route and declare my goal 107 miles.

I also have awesome new shoes to break in starting with Thursday's walking.

This challenge will start NOW (March 20) and end June 21. Yep, going from the beginning of Spring to the beginning of Summer!

To Do List:
~ Figure out how many miles would be a challenge for you to do each week
~ Find a place within that limit that you'd like to visit
~ Walk.

Yep, it's that simple!

For me, I was thinking to do about 10 miles a week, but that's not really pushing me... so I am going to aim for 18 miles a week x 13 weeks... that gives me 234 miles. Guess what's only 234 miles from me? Niagara Falls!! That is on my Life List to visit!! So I'm going to do this virtual walk there and then maybe in the summer I will actually GO there! YAY! I think that would be an awesome treat for me :) hehe

If you'd like to join this challenge, simply put where you want to go, how many miles it is away, and how many miles you are aiming for. And don't fret! This is for 13 weeks, if you only do 4 miles in one week, you can make those up the following week! Just GETTING there is the point!!

I would actually LOVE it if you wrote a blog (after joining of course) to post that you are in the challenge and show us pics of where you are going. That might inspire others to get up and get walking, too!!! I have been FAR too lazy and lax in my journey lately and I HAVE to kick it up a notch. I thought that since I started off walking that this would be a good way to get me back in the groove!

I hope at least SOMEONE will join me! emoticon
