Hi Barbara! It's good to hear from one of the Ninjas!
Some of us are on the 10 lbs or 10 inches challenge for January thread. But we don't chat like we did for this challenge.

I think I heard there would be a Ninja-type challenge coming up for February. I haven't listened to today's Spark Radio but maybe i should. I've been working out as planned, but my food choices haven't been the best. I need to get back on track, so my efforts don't go to waste!

Hi fellow Ninjas!
I haven't been here for a long time.. somehow I survived the holidays and then I kinda "slumped"... ouch! I gained 2 kg in the last 2 weeks. But no wonder.. I was eating reeeally bad and haven't been to the gym all week. I used every excuse I could come up with to nto move. Not even my FitBit could motivate me..

But here I am.. back again. Did you listen to today's SparkRadio?? It's a great show about getting back on the wagon. I actually listen to it right now and immediately thought about giving a sign of life to my team.. ;)

The holidays did me in. I gained. Not pleased, but I have no one to blame but myself. This was my first holiday season without my mom and it was rough on me. Hopefully 2013 will be better. It has to be.

My lack of fitness minutes and use of excuses has me up 10 pounds between Halloween and Christmas. Yep, its true. Sad, but true. BUT... I am on track again, have made a plan for myself and will get back to tracking and working out more diligently. I let my writing and other obligations get in my way, blah blah blah excuses.. but, truly I have nothing else to say than I slipped, I'm human, back to it! :)

The good news is, I lost 50 pounds in 2012 and if I do that again this year, I will be super close to my goal, so... umm.. YAY! lol

Hope you are all kicking butt and taking names still! SO proud of all of you! XOXO

I know! It's crazy to think it's the end of the challenge & the end of the year!

I'm glad our weigh in is on NYE and not NY Day, I have fun plans which involve eating & drinking. emoticon
My husband & I and another couple are going up to Maine for a concert & it's sure to be a party! I also gained after Christmas, I'm already down 1 lb and at this point I'm simply hoping to maintain.
Even with my gain, I bought new workout pants today. The ones I have are XL and starting to fall off. today I bought Mediums and they freaking fit!!!

Wow Hannah, that's fantastic! I actually love sprouts and can't imagine Christmas dinner without them. I think the key is to cook them for just the right length of time.
Well, I blew it on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and again yesterday. Only a little bit each time, but I'm up three pounds. I'm hoping that it's mostly sodium related and will disappear quickly!
Now I need to catch up on my fitness minutes and clean up my act to see how close I can get to my New Year's Eve goal!

I got my Dad to eat sprouts! Even more spectacular, I got myself to eat sprouts. Turns out they're actually edible if you cook them with garlic and a slice of bacon (grilled the bacon first so most of the fat drained away).
And filling up on veggies must have worked because when we got to desserts I could not eat a thing. So I didn't. And today I'm down half a pound from yesterday!
The cooking thing turned out a lot less stressful than I expected, and it seemed to help because Mum was the calmest I've ever seen her on Christmas day. I might do that again.

Congrats Ali, and PrairieMum on the weight loss. Hannah I'm sorry you had to go thru that especially while traveling, but good news with the food and as for your dad there is only so much you can do.

Oddly the radio is playing a Richard Simmons parody called "it's the most fattening time of the year". I have been listless and lacked focus for all of this challenge, I gained back and I'm at 205, which means I'm ending the year virtually the same as I began (yay for not gaining more boo for loosing all that progress I made in summer). But right after I wrote this blog my 5 year relationship ended, and I wallowed for a day and snapped into focus. I got myself a fitbit for Christmas and I've been good about tracking my food and getting in my fitness minutes. (though I think fitbit gives me a little too much credit for the walking I do at work, I get moderate active minutes for the quarter mile walk from the parking lot to my shop at work).

I hope all of you ladies have good holiday celebrations and get great fit gifts while not over indulging in goodies.

Wow Ali, that's impressive!
I lost that final half pound in time for the FFF weigh in, however I did it by being horribly ill last night. I don't know what the other passengers on the train must have thought of me running to the bathroom every ten minutes.
Thankfully feeling better today so will probably already have that half pound back, but I'll take half a pound over throwing up any day!
I'm at home now, which usually means a lot of ready meals and dessert after every meal. But not this time! I told Mum that I'll do the shopping and cooking so whatever we eat is entirely up to me.
Dad will, of course, bury anything on his plate in a coating of salt but at least I'm trying to get some healthy food into him.

I probably should have set more ambitious goals for this challenge. I had it in my head that I wanted to weigh 165 by 2013, so I just worked backwards from there. I also didn't expect to lose so much through the holidays...although they're not over yet! I plan to eat & drink on Christmas Eve & Day. So we'll see where I finish.

I'm ill so taking a couple of rest days. But still got within half a pound of today's goal!
That takes me to 15.5 lbs lost since starting SP. My reward for 15 lbs is to sign up for a new fitness/dance class so right now I'm going to have a look and see if there are any belly dancing classes near me : )

Barbara, did you end up working it or did you take a rest day?

I took another rest day from Jillian (I took one yesterday). I did take my daughter for a walk, so I was happy to get some activity in.

Hi Ninjas,
I am so tired today. It is the first time in months that I am really thinking about skipping my step class tonight and go home. Whenever I had days like that in the past months I went to the gym and at least did something... but today?? I can barely keep my eyes open and since I am going on christmas vacation at the end of the week I don't really have a lot to do in the office.. just closing open issues. Nothing fancy spectacular which would keep me awake ;)

Hannah, so sorry about your grandmother.

I didn't exactly take the fat burning challenge but did workouts Saturday & Monday that actually use most of those moves. I also worked out Sunday, but focused more on strength.

I feel like I'm coming down with a cold...and for me that means craving carbs! I hope i can resist or keep the excessive carbs i do have to fruit.

Hi there!

Did Zumba on Saturday and I am going back today. Yesterday, I spent the morning shopping for underprivileged children. We had 1400 kids to shop for. It was fun and I did a lot of walking around our local Wal-Mart. I wore the wrong shoes- Converse All Stars, so by the end of the day, my feet and back HURT!

Hello Ninjas,

yesterday was a very bad gym day. I really had to force myself to work out. I stayed on the threadmill for 25 minutes and did my upper body and core sttrenght training afterwards.
Everything felt bad. I had some filled pasta for lunch. Too many onions and too much fat. I felt so bloated the whole day. If I would have done my measurements yesterday, I would have freaked out, I guess. On top I forgot a hairband, so I had to work out with open hair.. with a length almost to my waist a total no-go...
so you see, everything which could go wrong went wrong.. and it goes on like that today, the moment I closed my door at home I realized I forgot my key... so I have to call a handyman to open my door for my hard earned money.. :(

I tried the challenge workout but I think the only full minutes I did were the first lot of jumping jacks and the walking lunges.
Dunno, maybe it's just too leg-centric for the day after a 5k. I'm also possibly dehydrated after crying so much yesterday. Or maybe I just can't push myself when nobody's watching. Who knows.

Hi everyone I am so sorry that I've been absent! It has been such a hectic month that I haven't been able to keep up. My 2 year old was sick in November with Influenza / Mono. Then just when I thought she was getting better she gets strep throat this week. Now my oldest daughter and I have strep throat and I also have a bad sinus infection. I'm ready to lock myself in the house for good! On top of all of that I have been so stressed that I have been eating everything in sight and now I'm up 5 lbs. Anyway I will really try to be a much better teammate the rest of the challenge!

Okay Ninjas, I don't get it. Whenever I go below 130 kg, one day later it is up again. I work for a week to get rid of the weight and get below 130 kg again, a bit more than the last time.. it is like taking 2 steps forward and 1 1/2 back.. a bit frustrating to be honest. For the last 2 days I am stuck at 131.2 kg now...

Well, at least it is going down.. gram by gram..

Yeah that sounds like a killer! But it (and my blog) will have to wait til tomorrow as I'm going straight to my work Christmas do after work. A time to make the right choices and enjoy myself without stuffing my face til I burst. Wish me luck :)

Sorry I haven't been on here much either...

I weighed in this morning at 164.5! Which is just under my goal weight for 12/31. I am psyched! My plan for the remainder of the year is to maintain. Losing a couple more pounds would rock...but the temptations are coming fast & furious at my work. Luckily, I only have 5 days left of work until Christmas break (I took 12/21 off!)

Tuesday it was coffee cake - I had a small taste (like, literally 1/2 a bite)
Yesterday it was coffee cake again, plus some other bread & cupcakes - I had a small taste of frosting, it tasted like marshmallows (amazing)
Today it's the holiday party, catered by a BBQ place. I've resisted long enough and am going to indulge a bit. NOT over-indulge.

I will continue to stick to my weight watchers points & workout as scheduled. And give myself a break on the days when I eat more than I should.

I'm curious to see everyone else's plans - if you blog it, will you let us know here so we can check it out? I'd love to pick up some ideas/strategies from you ladies.

HI ninjas!
I have been bad. I bought a ten pass pack to Zumba and I HAVE NOT BEEN!!! Seriously, what is wrong with me? I mean, do I really like to give people my hard earned money? This is a big character flaw/ issue with me. I told my husband to make me go. My problem is that it is downtown KCK. Okay, like it's really that far. I get home, get lazy, and don't go. I need to go. But, I have been riding an exercise bike the last couple of nights. My husband hauls it in and out of the garage so I can ride and watch T.V. I don't want to sit in the garage- too cold and too many dead bugs. emoticon The first night I only made it 5 minutes. Last night I made it 15 or so. I guess it is giving me a workout. It's just a cheapie one, manual, non electric.

I've just seen that I lost 71 kg with SP!!! Wooow.. if only!!! ;)

That is a system bug between kg and lbs. I still try to figure out with the SP support what happens there.

Hi Peachelle,
look for Motion Traxx on iTunes. They have a free podcast with intervall training, music for runners, cyclers, for the elliptical and they have some coached sessions to buy. Mine is called "Deekron & Motion Traxx Workout Elliptical Coach - Guided Workout". They have the same for runners and for cyclers. And it is not like "put on this resistance and that speed" but more "find a comfortable speed with the knowledge that we increase the resistance three times in the next 10 minutes". So the workout is always different, depending on your fitness level that day.

I pushed myself to the limit in the gym today... I finally finished my coached elliptical session I downloaded from iTunes.. geeze, that's a great workout!!!

Yes Olivia, that's what I thought, too.. I mean 4 cm at the waist?? I really checked this 3 times ;))

I would take the day just as it is. Some days I am hungry all the time and on others I have to remind myself to eat. As long as you are not forcing yourself not to eat, I think everything is fine. Your body will tell you what it needs.

Wow Barbara, that's some serious inch loss! emoticon
I'm a bit confused right now. According to my tracker I've only eaten 1079 calories today, but I'm not hungry. Not even a little bit. Considering a few weeks ago I decided to go for 1600 per day because 1400 just wasn't enough, that just doesn't make sense! Can't decide whether to find something not too heavy (as it's nearly time for bed) or just leave it. It's very strange.

I have just not been into this challenge as much. I think that I have just had too many health issues to deal with and making the adjustments to them. Managing a maintenance status seems to be what I need until I make the adjustments.

I have adjusted my goals a bit. I am glad that I got down to the "loosen up" weight again. But I had to step on the scale 3 times this morning. The first step showed me 128.8 kg (283.5 lbs). I was like .. WHAT?? and stepped on it again and it showed 130 kg and again 130 kg. So that is where I settled now.
But I have to tell you, I did my measurements yesterday evening. I lost 4 cm in the waist (I checked that 3 times, too) and 1 cm at the hips. 1 cm on my thigh and 1 cm at my upper belly (you know this fat part between chest and waist.. lol) emoticon So my feeling was right.. my pants are getting loose ;)

Hi Ninjas,

well the snow started around noon yesterday. Around 4 pm we called it a day at the office to get home safe. Checking the traffic, there was no way to get through my gym (I have to cross town from west to east) so I did my grocery shopping, stocked up on all those healthy foods I missed the last week. And I had some great stuff of breakfast and lunch today.. yummy ;)
I dusted my Wii today and played some tennis and did some boxing for cardio workout.. I totally forgot how exhausting that can be.. lol

Good Afternoon fellow Ninjas, Yeah I have been totally MIA, but I am back finally.
I have been doing good at least. I am waiting to weigh emoticon myself on Saturday and hopefully I should be good. I have been dropping weight and working out really hard. I am doing a workout routine called REVABS emoticon from BeachBody.com and it is a 90 day program and I have 4 days left on phase1 and if I can remember, I am going to pick up some heavier weights emoticon this weekend. I have muscles forming and it is a wonderful thing!! I haven't been this close to one-derland since I got out of the army in 1994, well it was probably a few years later that I left one-derland. I was in a size 14 emoticon back then and now I am DOWN to a size 18 from a emoticon 20 or 22. I weigh 231 and I want one-derland so bad that I will work out extra hard the closer I get. I don't eat the free food at work, I don't eat free food at church, I really try hard to keep emoticon junk out of my mouth!! emoticon

Good Morning my fellow Ninjas!
I hope you all have a great Friday..the weekend is already knocking on our doors!! We expect some heavy winter weather which means a lot of snow. It didn't start yet. I guess it all comes down from the sky on time when everyone leaves the office for the weekend ;))
I have my gymbag packed in the car but before I go there I desperately have to do some grocery shopping!! I didn't do that for over a week. And that's why I ended up in ordering food or eating other unhealthy stuff. I am really looking forward to strolling through the grocery store and stock up on fruits and veggies... and ingredients to finally start baking cookies this weekend ;)

gosh, I have so sore legs today. I had a "personal training" step class yesterday. I was the only one coming through the snow.. I feared the worst and I was right.. lol

And today I wanted to try my coached elliptical from iTunes for the 3rd time. Previously I thought I did something wrong that it always switched from set 1 to 2 after 11 seconds so I checked it on my iTunes just right now. And no, it wasn't me. There seems to be something wrong with the download, because no matter what device I took, it was all the same. So I checked for some free podcasts and updated my iPod. I'll give it another try tomorrow.. lol

Oh btw.. I ended my workout with some other music.. not that you think I cheated ;))

my scale is not my friend these days. I think I have to focus more on "clean eating". I've seen that I started to "not track" again lately. I shouldn't do that. So I focus on tracking and water input again.

Barbara, don't fret...just weigh in after TOM is gone. You're doing great :)

I made goal!

I have hope again now that I will be able to lose the pounds. For those of you who don't know, I am on thyroid replacement hormones due to having lost my thyroid to thyroid cancer earlier this year. It takes a long time to adjust thyroid hormones and get the levels just right. My endo is still in the process of my adjustments. Anyways, one of my levels has been low and I've read that if it's low then one will have a lot of trouble losing any weight. She added that hormone to raise the level and my primary doctor said that now I'll be able to lose some weight. It's working! (Nixie, remember when I was bummed during RHHBC and had a feeling this was the reason?).

Now to focus on achieving the Solstice goal!!

lol Peachelle, that is an excellent lesson ;)

I will try baking with apple sauce instead of butter for the first time tonight (well, that's the plan). I am very curious how this works out. I had never heard of it before. My colleagues will be my guinea pigs to try the cookies ;))

Today is weigh in and what shall I say. On Monday I was almost back to my old weight... but TOM came for a visit yesterday and I am up by 2.5 lbs. So I am not even close to anything.. ;)

Glad to see you girls are still with me, I was scared for a while.. lol

I call it a day.. almost 10.30 pm over here. I had some nice home cardio today, we had our first snow over here and it is just like every year "oops, it is winter.. oops, it is december.. oops.. there comes white wet cold stuff falling from the skies".. it is like none has ever driven a car in the winter.. that's why I couldn't get through to my gym, so I got home, put on my gymclothes, turned up the music on the iPod and got going ;)

I'm here too! I injured myself while cleaning and moving stuff this weekend, so I have not been to Zumba in a day or so. However, I am going tomorrow. I pulled something in my shoulder and I could not move or bend without pain. It is better today- I have been putting on some medicated pain patches and taking Advil, and it hurts a lot less.

School ends for the semester this week. I have made a pledge to go to Zumba three times a week while class is not in session. Hopefully, that'll light the fire back under me.

I'm here too! Barbara - I'm so glad you called us all out on our lack of posting! It got us back on!

I will most likely make my ninja day goal. It's 171. I weighed in on Friday at 168 (which is a my winter solstice goal) but went to a holiday party yesterday. I ate, drank & was merry! emoticon emoticon

This morning I weighed in at 171. emoticon I'm also getting my TOM so between that & the salty goodness I ate yesterday I'm up a few lbs. I hope I shed it by Wednesday!

I'm also here! I've made some back to basic changes for myself hoping that they'll jump start some weight loss. While I've tightened & toned with Jillian DVDs the past few month, I'd like to see some more loss in pounds. We'll see what happens, I have no idea if I'll make my Ninja Day goal or not.

Whatever we do ladies, as long as we give it our best shot we are working on getting healthier and that's what really matters!

Barb, I am no where near my Dec goal. I need to get moving and the fact that IFit has fallen on their face with their upgrade has jostled my workout plan considerably. I had planned on starting a new round of workout programs on my treadmill but now I can't so I need to instead just do a regular walk or a workout outside.

I am back from my first christmas market trip. I am a total x-mas market junkie!! I got rid of almost all the 5 lbs I put on during my eating-too-much-not-moving-at-all-weekend in Berlin. 1.5 lbs are left. Which means, I am nowhere close to my Dec 5 goal, but I keep pushing!!

Hi everyone! I think all of my craziness is calming down a little bit. I just need to make it through this next week with all of the Christmas programs and then it should really be better. With all of the stress I put on a couple of pounds but I'm working on it. I got in a great 90 minute workout today. I'm hoping I can keep the momentum going through the month. My husband coaches basketball so for the next 3 months he's not really around to help me with the kids. My goal this winter is to not let that distract me from my goals.
