Hi Ladies!

I know we've gotten quiet on this thread, but I wanted to post my results for our challenge. My weight as of today is 189.5, and I'm down a total of 34.5 pounds in 5 months. My weight plateaued again recently for about 4 weeks, so I did something drastic for me - I didn't work out for a week and increased my calories per day as well. I started back on track this past Monday in the hopes that my body will start dropping the pounds again. I'm also changing up my workouts again. The longer I do this, the more I understand that this process is not an exact science, and I have to be willing to try new things to find what works best.

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season...wishing you all the best in 2009!

Kathy

Hey Everyone,
HOpe you enjoyed your holiday. I am EXHAUSTED! I moved this weekend, and I did a great deal of it alone, people backed out of helping me about 12 hours before I was supposed to move - as if moves aren't frazzled enough!! I'm not sure I can walk, hehe, but it is all finished, and I'm trying my best to focus on that. Sadly, my computer doesn't appear to have survived the move, but I will do my best to log in here from work while I'm shopping for a new one.

How was your holiday? I hope you did something relaxing - I painted, packed, ate one slice of turkey and passed out cold!!

Hey all!

I'm just checking in to say hi! I recently started training for a part time second job, so I've barely had time to think the past couple of weeks...

I've been really busy, and haven't been able to work out much, but I'm still losing, though very slowly.

Monday was my weigh in, at exactly 199!! I'm finally in one-derland for the first time in almost 10 years!! Hopefully it sticks, with my busier schedule. I should be able to get some workouts in this week, so I'm feeling pretty optimistic.

Hope everyone is still hanging in there!!! Thanksgiving is coming up, hopefully we're all prepared!

Great ideas, redskins! I think 4 is especially good, it is always great to reach out to more people - and it tends to motivate me more too! I'll post my progress on these through the rest of the week.

I am DEAD right now, I spent the whole weekend helping my roommate move out of our apartment - our 4th floor walkup apartment. But, on the plus side, I didn't have to worry about fitting in gym time!

Go Team 4!

Well its our last weekend before all the eating madness starts, so I'm thinking we really need to be extra focused this week on being on track with eating, drinking water, exercising and support. So the challenge this week is the following:

Challenge 1:
Eating: Track everything you put in your mouth and stay in calorie range. It doesn't matter if you enter it in spark or a journal write it down if it goes into your mouth.

Challenge 2:
Water: (if you medically can) Make sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day (I really need this one). If you already drink 8 or more glasses add 1 more cup a day. One week I drank 8 glasses everyday, and it was the week I lost the most in this challenge.

Challenge 3:
Exercising: Move, Move, Move! Cardio, strength training, whatever it is that gets your heart rate going lets aim for 5 days a week of doing it. If you already are doing this that is great add 15 more minutes to your routine.

Challenge 4:
Last but not least I want everyone in this challenge to leave at least 5 supportive posts or goodies to any other DONE girl that you normally don't post to.

We have only 5 weeks left of this challenge lets give it our all when we really need it (during the holidays).

I'm working on being a success story!

Huge Accomplishments:
June 2011- Done Girl Page of the Month

6/28/11- Done Girl of the Day!

I'm ready to lose this weight once and for all!!

I will reach my goal 1 pound at a time.

11/11 - 195.5

I stayed the same this week, but weighed in lower the middle of last week. I may be retaining water, or it could be due to the hard training from last week. I'm also trying to keep my calorie cycling calories as high as possible without stalling fat loss, so I might have to do some tweaking if necessary.

Have a great week ladies - YOU ROCK!!!

That's great, Kathy! I'm sure I'll be visiting your post for a reminder when I need motivation in my C210K training.

I plan to stick to my eating schedule, but gradually increase cardio exercise to counteract any extra calories. I can put together healthy plates at parties, but a good friend of mine makes AMAZING desserts, so I know I will at least have a bite. I figure if I plan to workout more throughout the season and keep the rest of the day on track when I do eat those desserts I should continue to progress.

What works for everyone else?

Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Ladies! I'm so excited, I had to share! I just finished the Couch to 10K program today and ran 10K (6.2 miles) a couple hours ago. I want to encourage you to go for YOUR goals, no matter what! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

I'm going to be running the Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving Day, just one way of handling the holidays. I intend to stick with my eating plan and exercise schedule as usual and be many pounds lighter by the New Year!

Kathy that's FANTASTIC!! I haven't kept up my running regimen as much as I would have liked but I'm not giving up hope on running a 5k as well in a few months time. And I'm glad you are feeling better!

With the holidays approaching, we should all give some thought to how we'll keep on track despite increased temptation. What are your plans for staying on game during the holiday season?

Have a good day ladies, keep at it.

Hi Ladies!

Sorry I haven't checked in for a couple weeks. I was fighting a nasty head cold last week, and thankfully I'm doing much better now.

Here are my results for the past 2 weigh-ins:

10/28 - 199.0 FINALLY I'M IN ONEDERLAND!!!
11/04 - 195.5 EVEN BETTER!

I finish my Couch to 10K program this week and I'm planning to run a 5K race on Thanksgiving. I'm starting to get faster now as well since I'm getting lighter - LIFE IS GREAT!

Newcastle: I definitely voted today!

CPH: I'm sorry to hear about your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

MOTO: Glad you're back in action!

Sara: Glad to hear you whipped that nasty virus out of your system!

Heather: Keep kicking those pounds to the curb! You ROCK!!!

Have a great week everyone! You're doing awesome!

Hello Team 4! I'm returning to Sparkpeople after a hiatus that began with a sprained ankle and thoroughly banged up lower legs.

I'm coming back to Team 4 because you all ROCK, you made me feel a part of the team, and I NEED that right now.

The good part: I didn't gain 10-20 lbs while recuperating or on vacation for 1.5 weeks with girlfriends, then with my sister. Last year, I would have gained a LOT.

The not-so-good part: I stopped many, but NOT all of my good healthy habits. I gained only five pounds.

My goals and plan:
1. participate in Team 4.
2. work my way through SparkStages again. For me, I need to go back to Stage 1 to re-establish good habits without all the guilt.
3. be physically active every day. If my legs hurt, I will do abs and/or upper body workouts.

Thanks to everyone for being here for Team 4. It takes all of us, even if each of us is MIA for awhile.

VOTE!
Cynthia

So sorry about your loss, CPH, my prayers are with you and your family.

I'm finally beginning to adjust to my hectic work schedule, so I am ready to get back in the habit of daily posts and tracking. Towards that, do any of you have end of year goals? How do you plan to get them in motion?

Have a good day ladies!

Sorry I have been MIA for a while as well. We had a very sudden death in the family last week and she was like my dh's mother (she just didn't birth him) so he is taking it really hard. They talked every day (she was in MI and we are in FL), she was my matron of honor when we got married and we both spent a lot of time with her.

On a happier note, my weigh in this week was down 3 pounds to 206! Finally past that 209 mark that I was in for a month!

Sorry about your layoff, CG. Best of luck finding a new job!!

I've been MIA for a bit due to having a pretty harsh cold and I thought it best to put off exercising until I'm healthy again. So I've spent the last week or so just resting, and trying to get better.

I've still been eating well though, and losing but slowly from taking it easy.

I think I'm at 206.2 (whatever my ticker says is accurate)

I'm feeling a lot better than last week, and I'm back at work, but I'm not 100% to jump back into my heavy exercise routine, so I think it will be another week before I'm back full force.

Hope everyone else is doing great! GO TEAM FOUR!!!

Hi Everyone! I'm down another 3 pounds to 200.5. One more pound to Onderland!!! Woohoo!

Sorry to hear about your layoff, C.G. I know so many people who've been affected by economic challenges, both here in the U.S. and in Canada. I'm sure you're quite talented though, so my prayers are with you for finding another job quickly. I AM glad to hear that you're not letting the job challenges pull you off track with eating healthy. Congrats on getting rid of some additional unwanted pounds!

Looking forward to some questions in the coming days...

Hi ladies!!!

I haven't fallen off the wagon, I promise! I've been going through some stuff the last 3 weeks - I got laid off from my job so I have been looking and looking and looking for a new one. Very stressful!

I am still doing great weight loss wise...down to 208 which is fantastic to me. :) Glad to see everyone is doing great and I will update the spreadsheet soon.

Hang in there Newcastle! You must be a very valuable employee to have two bosses needing your assistance! Also, great job with keeping on track and not reaching for food when you're stressed out. I've found that working out really helps reduce my stress levels, regardless of what's going on. And it's much better for us than junk food!

WAHOO! Way to go Kathy, it seems like you really breezed through that plateau! I'm glad you were able to find something that works for you.

I've been a bit frazzled these past few weeks. We've had some turnover in my company so I'm splitting my time between two offices. I get to exercise a few new sets of skills, which is nice, but I have NO time to do much of anything else, I am always shuttling from one office to the other. It is also hard for me to sit down and finish something from start to finish as I now have two bosses pulling at my time. I know that they are grateful, and I am learning new things, but I don't have any time to hop on sparkpeople, I can barely get to my e-mails! So sorry I haven't been around lately, but I will do my best to start fitting in a few minutes here and there, on the weekends at the very least.

On the plus side, I lost 1.6 pounds last weekend! So that puts me at 13 or so for the challenge, and 21 since I joined sparkpeople! Four pounds away from my next goal, woohoo! I've stayed on foodwise these past few weeks, which I'm really happy with considering I usually reach for junk when I get frazzled. I haven't logged things as much as I"d like, but on the weekends I check the numbers of everything I make so I should be in the clear.

Hope everyone is making it through the week on two feet! :)

Hi Ladies!

I planned to check in this morning, but today was a whirlwind! Tuesday's weigh in was very welcome because I finally broke through the plateau! I'm done 3.5 pounds to 205.5 - 41 pounds gone - yay! I also got rid of close to 4" as well this week, so I'm very excited!

I increased my weight and changed some of my exercises for strength training. I also increased the intensity of my other cardio since the levels I was working on seemed to be getting much easier last week. I also realized I'd gotten rid of 9 pounds since I last computed my calorie cycling numbers. It was definitely time to recalculate, so I started my new calorie ranges this past Sunday.

I'm looking forward to great week...wish the same to all of you!!!

Finally checking in this week - I'll read everyone's posts when I get home but I hope everyone had an okay week. It has been stressful for me, but I've managed to stay on track food wise.

Enjoy your weekend fab four, I'll post again in a bit.

Congrats Heather and Newcastle on your OUTSTANDING PROGRESS - WAY TO GO!!!

I weighed in this morning...still no change, so this is the second week of plateau. I've been over my workouts and eating plan, and I'm doing everything I'm supposed to do. I don't want to change my workouts too much because of C210K, but I'm thinking about adding some video workouts on days when I don't run, just to change things up a bit. I increased weight on strength training and I'm probably going to integrate some free weight exercises into my routine. Other than that, I'm just wanting to get past this and travel to Onederland!

Time for some laundry, then it's off to the gym...

yay heather! i'm glad you are out of my town, but I just may be visiting you soon.

Weigh in today - down 4 pounds, 204.6 FINALLY!! I screamed when i weighed this morning, I was shocked that it actually moved.

Thanks for the advice Kathy. I think it just took some time for C210K to actually 'click' for me. When I knew I was on the verge of dropping it I took a look at the advice you gave when I first decided to start the C210K and your training log, so your advice was definitely part of what turned on the lightbulb for me!

Let's keep the long term exercise/fitness goals hot topic going throughout the weekend. As you weigh in, post some of the non weight goals you'd like to hit on this journey.

emoticon on sticking with C210K, Newcastle! I've had to slow my pace down on the longer runs. I'm also glad to hear that you understand now that the goal of the program is endurance rather than speed. I'm so like you in wanting to run faster, partly because I remember what it was like to actually do it, lol. However, I was carrying a lot less weight then too. Everything's relative. Even the best running books will tell you that when you first start running, don't be concerned about your pace. So be happy with where you are right now and you will find it easier as you build more muscle strength and get lighter.

My long-term fitness goals are to start running races again consistently, run a marathon, and get certified as a personal trainer.

Kathy

I'm so glad to hear good news from everyone. The thread has been a little slow lately, but we've clearly been moving, which is what matters at the end of the day!

I'm happy to report that I made some strides today as well. I've been having some trouble making it through the C210K. I haven't skipped any of the sessions, but I haven't been doing it three times a week because I was always feeling completely and absolutely exhausted and sore at the end of a session. So it would take me a few days to psych myself up again, and then I'd run, pass out, and repeat the cycle. But yesterday something just clicked in my head that I needed to slow down and I made it through today feeling like I could run a bit more, which I've never felt!

In my head I've just always thought of running as impossibly harder than everything else, so I think I just had it in my head that I had to really RUN to be doing it 'right'. But it is much better, to me, for me to slow down and stick with this consistently than to quit in a month, which probably would have happened if I didn't find a solution. So I'm just going to foucs on distance at a comfortable speed now, and work on speed when I'm ready.

Whew sorry that was so long, but I wanted to share. :)

Today's question: What are your long term fitness goals? I know we are all looking to lose weight, but what goals and physical gains do you hope to achieve in addition to that?

Thanks for all the encouraging words!

I usually make a big batch of something and then my husband and I will eat the leftovers for dinner for a few days, and then I'll make something new. This week its been Veggie Lasagna, but in the past I've made made pots of Chili, whole wheat spaghetti, things like that.

For lunch, I typically have the same thing everyday, just because its easy to brown bag, I know the calories and I don't really get sick of it.

emoticon Sara!!!

I weighed in this morning. I actually stayed the same weight-wise per the scale (209), but my body-fat percentage shows I'm down 1/2 lb. of fat and gained 1/2 lb. of muscle. I also lost 3.5 inches last week - just goes to prove the scale isn't the sole indicator of results. emoticon

I did some batch cooking on Friday and froze individual portions for the week. I'm looking to get into that more rather than deal with frozen dinners. I also cook a lot of chicken and fish on the grill. It's quick and easy: add some steamed veggies and you've got a meal.

Way to go Sara! emoticon

Today's quesiton: How do you cook? Do you cook every night, or batch cook one or two things and eat them throughout the week?

I batch cook 3 meals on the weekends and alternate them for lunch/dinner throughout the week. I'm going lean cuisine this week, though, as I didn't cook this weekend because I was out of town.

What works best for you?

Weighed in this morning, at 212.8! Down 2.2 pounds from last week!

I think I found the solution to my issues with slow losses. Sparkpeople had me eating too much. It upped my calories because I was working out more, but something must have gotten off. Last week, I re-entered my goal weight and date, and kept the same increased workout schedule, but it dropped from 1400-1800 daily calories to 1200-1550 daily calories. So, SP had me eating too much which caused my frustration in not seeing results. So, hopefully I should be back on track with making regular losses. Whoo hoo!!

How's everyone doing?

I usually work out in the afternoons, but some mornings I have to get to the gym early before taking my daughter to early afternoon homeschool activities. I wish I could say I went to bed earlier, but it doesn't happen to often. I just set the alarm, stretch before getting out of bed, then put on my gym clothes and I'm out the door. My workout commitment is a key priority, so I do what's necessary to make sure I get it in for the day.

Me and my 3 co-workers have all had trouble with Spark being slow this week but today it has moved pretty fast.

I don't go to the gym. I do try to get up every morning to work out for a few minutes. I just started out setting my alarm 15 minutes early and then when I could do that without effort or I was waking up earlier I have bumped it up to 20 minutes earlier. I am not a morning person so me getting up to work out in the morning is a workout in itself! I do most of my workout at night but try to do some each morning to get my metabolism going!

Also, has anyone had difficulties loading sparkpeople? It has been very slow for me, from multiple locations.

CPH, I have that same problem - I wont lose anything one week (and no gain either!) and the next I will lose 1 or 2 lbs.

Well weigh in today was still at 212. I seem to be in a pattern of no gain/loss one week, the next week 1 pound loss, and the next week no gain/loss.

I mostly use WATP dvds. I would love to get a stability ball, a heart rate monitor and a bender ball. A lady I work with has one and she loves it. She says if it weren't for that ball she wouldn't be able to do as many crunches as she does! I would also love to try a spin class because I have heard they are tons of fun! I am still trying to figure out what works for me. I only lose maybe a pound each week if I am lucky so I am definately working on finding what works for me!

I don't have any new gadgets or routines I'd like to add at the current time. I modify my existing workouts slightly to keep them challenging and keep my body from adapting. Other than that, I don't want to change what's working.

Congrats Sarah, that's really FANTASTIC!!

How are everyone's workouts going this week? I missed my run this morning but I am going to sneak out of work a bit early today to get it in tonight.

Today's Question: Are there any gadgets or routines you are looking to add to your workout regimen?

I saw the bender ball a few days ago on the daily spark blogs. I had been curious about it from infomercials but didn't think it would be that effective, but spark gave it a great review. I'm interested in adding that, and trying a few new workout dvds.

Do you have any rewards/events planned throughout your weight loss journey?

Yes I do have rewards once I reach 10-20 lbs. My rewards are new shoes, new clothes. Things that I need because my shoes are getting worned out, and my clothes are falling down.

BTW, congrats to SPATULASARA on the 50 lbs weight loss. It took me like 2 years + just to loss that much. Keep up the good job!

Hey Ladies! I was sort of MIA last week. All the free time that I would normally spend on Sparkpeople forums and the like, was spent reading. I got sucked into some books that I couldn't put down...

But I kept up with my exercise and eating, so nothing was held back in that area :-)

Last Monday's weigh in was an even 215!! YAY for 50 pounds lost since April!!

But sadly, this week I'm still there. No Loss...

Though I'm good with cardio, I'm still really bad with getting in my strength training, which is what I'm chalking my slow losses to... I'm going to put some good conscious effort into it though and hopefully make more of a strength routine this week, starting tonight!

I hope you ladies are all doing well. I'm going go get caught up with what I've missed!

Hi ladies!!

I just finished updating the spreadsheet:

spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pQo8
_l
eF8lwvA6wbak1PbZQ

As always, if you see something missing, please let me know!!

I've been preparing for my naughty b-day weekend...yesterday was my actual b-day, and I made a sprinkle cake last night. I had one piece (which I will admit, was a little big, haha) but I had saved room in my calories for it and HEY its my b-day I will have a piece of cake! I gave some to the neighbors and brought the rest to work. This weekend...its cheesecake factory and drinks though..so I will be pushing a little extra hard for the next few days, hahaha.

I'm glad that I did this spreadsheet - its great to see how far we have come in a month. Its frustrating for me since I was losing so fast and now I am slowing down..but then I look and see that I've lost 6 pounds this past month. Thats not so bad!!!! Everyone is doing fantastic!

Haha, I'll have to check that out Kathy! I'd love to work for the Food Network, maybe I'll just head down to their studios and see if they let me in!!

Mica - did you get those mixes through the nikeplus gadget? I didn't realize you could get celebrity mixes, that is kind of neat!

Today's question: How much support do you have from friends and family?

This is sort of a mixed bag for me. When I go home to visit my family everyone recognizes that I've lost weight, but still expects me to fall into the same troubling eating patterns I had growing up. Everyone usually snaps out of pressuring me pretty quickly, with the exception of my grandmother, so I just usually have a few bites until she walks away. But since I only visit my family periodically I don't really have to worry about their habits rubbing off on me.

My friends are a bit of a different story. It is old news that I am trying to get healthy but I still get more than my share of "but red wine has lots of antioxidants," or "we can share it" or something like that. I'm running out of ways to say no, so these days I just tend to hang out with them sparingly or suggest events I'm more interested in, like dance classes.

What works for you?

Oh Mica I haven't forgotten about the Poker Challenge; once I get through my exam tomorrow morning I will definitely be raising you - who else is on board?!! emoticon emoticon

Ok ladies...so I'm entering in my food in my Spark tracker and I see this ad with a gal who looks like Newcastle! Her name's Sunny Anderson and it's an ad for the Cooking for Real show on Food Network. She looks like she could be her sister! They both even have the same smile!

Sorry...just had to share...check out the ad and let me know if you agree or not.

To try and keep our grocery bill reasonable we have stopped buying a lot of pre-packaged foods, we buy meat in larger packages and we go shopping every week. When we used to go shopping every two weeks I found myself stopping by the store a lot more in between shopping trips, which would cost us more in the end. We also have just started a new "rule" that if it isn't on the grocery list when we walk through the doors of the store, we aren't going to buy it. My husband is an impulse buyer and we used to spend a lot more on things we didn't need. We also do most of our shopping at Walmart. Sometimes on our meat though we go to Winn Dixie because my husband used to work in the meat market and he can usually get a better deal.

We have shopped at Sams Club in the past and it would probably be more cost effective but there is just my husband and me so if we buy a lot of stuff it will usually go to waste before we can eat it. Also in our house if we buy a lot of things it usually gets ate quicker.

Hey all its been awhile since I have logged on. For the answer to whats in my IPOD, its loaded with full CDs and I have several Nike training cd's on them my favorite being the one designed by Serena Williams.

I have CDs by Ashanti, Alicia Keyes, Beyonce, Chris Brown, Ciara, Danity Kane 1 & 2, PCD, Rhiana, Usher, Ne-yo, Fantasia, Mariah Carey (all) and so much more!

I have absolutely no tricks for the grocery store. I have a big family and I know this should be a motivator to shop smart but I don't. I buy what I see, I have no plan when I enter the store. I have not had the time to make a list. Only when it comes to dieting, and then its someone else's list I use.

It's very challenging keeping my grocery list what I consider "reasonable". Things I do to cut down are:

1) Shop for groceries at Super Wal-Mart. I've found their prices to be nearly $1 cheaper than the regular grocery stores for the exact same item. They don't have as many specialty items, but that's usually not a problem.

2) Compare prices. By knowing what the average price is for most of the items I buy, I can easily tell if a "sale" item at the grocery store is a good deal. I usually only buy something at the regular grocery store if it's on sale.

3) Shop at a wholesale club. I buy meat in bulk, divide it up and freeze it. I also buy frozen veggies, and whatever else I can find that's healthy and I know is a good value compared to grocery stores.

4) Buy milk at CVS or Walgreen's. I don't buy milk at Wal-Mart because theirs contains hormones. I've found that the two drugstores compete with each other and one or the other will have their milk on sale. Down here in FL there's a drugstore on about every corner, so it's not out of the way to make a quick stop. Publix (local grocery) just lowered the price of their milk, so we've now included them for milk purchases.

5) Grow our own vegetables or hit the local farmers' market. Our church has a section of land where we plant our own fruits and vegetables throughout the year. We also plan to do some container gardening. We also hit local farmers' markets on the weekends. You'll find great deals on fruits and veggies...many times they're organic.

6) Stick with clean food - food in it's most natural form. You can save a bunch of money and eat healthier by eliminating a bunch of pre-packaged stuff. We're still working on this in our family, but it's well worth it!

Thanks for the suggestions. My old MP3 player only held one playlist at a time, so I quickly grew tired of them, but I just got a nano so I'll definitely fill it up with a bit more variety over the weekend.

Today's topic: What are your tips and tricks for keeping your grocery bill reasonable?

I try to pick my meals for the week based on what chicken, meat, or fish is on sale. And I have a club card at my grocery store, but who doesn't these days! And I don't buy anything that isn't on my list.

Does anyone shop in bulk? I don't really have that option in the city, but I'm curious if that saves money long-term....

Morning Ladies, hope you are making it through hump day alright.

Today's Hot Topic:

What's on your ipod/workout playlist? I don't know about you, but I am ALWAYS on the lookout for a new mix.

Rihanna - Disturbia, Don't Stop the Music
Justin Timberlake & Madonna - 4 Mintues
Natasha Bedingfield - Pocketful of Sunshine
Danity Kane - Damaged, 2 of You
Jamiroquai - Canned Heat
Sarah Bareiles - Many the Miles
Fort Minor - Remember the Name

My mixes tend to be pop/top 40 heavy, but hopefully I'll be able to mix it up a bit based on everyone else's lists!

My turning point was when my clothes didn't fit anymore and they had fit for 2 years. Then I got on the scale and saw it go past 200! That was a real wake-up call. Another one was when I was at my annual GYN visit and he told me that he noticed more "fresh" stretch marks on my stomach!!!! I tell my husband that I have enough stretch marks to look like I have had a few kids and I haven't yet!

I also hate the idea of having surgery so it is either get healthy or have intestinal surgery to correct my stomach pains... emoticon

Today's weigh-in day and I'm down another 3.5 pounds - woohoo!

Now, let me see...regarding the questions:

What are your tips and strategies to prevent over-eating?

I eat between 5-6 meals a day and let no more than 4 hours go in between a meal. Usually it's about every 3 hours.

I do my best to consume 30% of my daily calories from protein. I also eat complex carbs so my blood sugar levels are normalized and I don't get cravings.

I eat a healthy balance from all the food groups and take a daily multi-vitamin. When my body is receiving the right nutrition, I felt better and want to eat good food.

What was my turning point?

My turning point was going to Aquatica by Sea World and feeling challenged walking quickly up the flights of stairs to go on some of the rides. I remembered when I used to dash up flights of stairs without a problem, so it really made me long to get back into shape physically.

Hello Fab Four ladies,

I think I'm now ready to get back down to business. It was an adjustment getting the kids back on track for school. We got that settled. Then this past weekend my husband and I went to San Antonio for a much needed get away. I eat and drank some things that I'll be working off for the rest of the week.
I'm focused on the task at hand once again.
I'm glad to see that everyone else is making a lot of progress on their weight lost challenges. I hope that I can join in on the success.
Keep up the good work ladies, you're doing an awesome job.

Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goal: my strength lies solely in my tenacity.

My strategies for not over-eating are to drink 1/2 to 1 glass of water before eating and take many sips of water during eating. I also eat slower and take my time enjoying the flavors of the food. When I am at home I will make sure that dh and I have the amount of food on our dinner plates that we need and I will put the leftovers away before I sit down to eat so I am not tempted to go out and fill my plate up again.

emoticon emoticon Poker Challenge emoticon emoticon

On the Jillian Michael's site I was on we had a "Poker Challenge" basically whoever wishes to participate, place a bet of an exercise and how many of that exercise to do....like 3 sets of military shoulder presses....then someone else can raise the bet with another exercise. When we get a nice size "pot", whoever has placed a bet (or anyone else who wishes just to do it) will have to do "the pot" worth of exercises. This is in addition to your other exercises. It does not have to be done all at once....it can be partially done over a few days.

WITH THAT BEING SAID I RAISE YOU 50 SQUATS ON EACH LEG!

emoticon emoticon 50 in 5: week 6 emoticon emoticon

This was my week to lead, so here is the challenge for the week.

This week the challenge is to eat at least 5 t 6 servings of fruits and veggies along with at least 25 grams of fiber. Along with exercise we have to make correct eating choices. Use the Quick Track to keep count of your servings per day. So for this week I want you all to focus on eating right.

For exercise I want you to work as hard as you can during the time you set for yourself. Let's sweat off those pounds. So focus on getting the most out of the time you have allotted for yourself.

BEST OF LUCK!

I don't really use any other health websites. I love sparkrecipes and get a lot of my recipes from there and I love that I can calculate my own recipes! I sometimes go to freedieting.com and last year I used it a lot for my calorie cycling and I lost about 20 pounds that way.

Other than sparkpeople, do you have any other favorite health/fitness/wellness websites?

Sometimes I use allrecipes.com for recipes, but I've recents got into sparkrecipes.com, I really like that and I don't have to filter out recipes.

Two sites I want to take another at are hungry-girl.com and iatepie.net. I've heard good things about them but never spent time there myself.

And every once and awhile I check out Oxygen Magazine's forums for new moves, recipes, and tips.
