I've been brown bagging it for about two years now, for both breakfast and lunch and snack. My blood sugars are much better and I'm gradually losing more weight. My co-workers have started doing the same as they've seen the benefits over the cafeteria's high carb., starchy foods. It's a good thing!
Hooray for a new challenge! I'll have to actually prep food this week, I'm out of all of my tasty, easy standard grab-and-run foods. And even though you didn't specifically mention it, I'll also avoid the evil vending machine at the end of the hall.... Thanks for the challenge!
Remember when you had to brown bag your lunches back at school? It wasn't always cool, but mom had a good idea there. Bringing lunch from home was healthier and more economically wise. Good ole mom, she knew a lot more than you gave her credit for.
So, starting Sunday, I challenge you to take a page out of mom's book. Brown bag it for the week. Only eat what you (or someone you know who does cook if you don't) has made. No dining out this week (that's all meals, kids). Your mom and your wallet will be happy that you didn't.
