With as cold as it is today... it may be time to revive this thread!!

I like my treadmill, exercise DVDs, stability ball, free weights and resistance bands for indoor/cold weather workoutiness.

My husband teaches karate, so I do that with him. I also like to do Body Combat, Tahitian Dance DVDs, Bellydance DVDs, and dancing around like a lunatic. emoticon

We've visited the ARC with some friends who have a membership even though they live in Jeff City. His employer helps pay some of the fees, so he is able to get a good price on the membership.

Enjoy the facility, and all the other things to do in Columbia.

The ARC is really nice and we were glad to find it since we had an almost identical facility in our hometown before we moved. We are also fortunate that my dh's employer pays for half the cost of our ARC membership (actually his former employer did the same thing, too) which makes it only a bit over $20.00 month for the whole family.

I belonged to the YMCA when I lived in the St. Louis area, and it was very expensive. Our membership was more at the YMCA 15 years ago then our ARC membership now (even without the discount).

The only thing I don't love about the ARC is the pool. I really miss having deep water in which to swim. The ARC pool is only about 4 feet deep at it's deepest part. But other than that I like it a lot and I like that it is family oriented. I'm not big on "health clubs". They seem a bit too much like meat markets. Going to a place like Curves would remedy that, but no one else in the family would be able to go with me, so that's out, too.

I wish that we had an ARC here in Jeff City. All we have our overpriced YMCA's.

It has to be extremely cold, since I enjoy getting out. I'm still waiting for a good snow, so we can get the sleds out.

If it is really too bad....Yoga or bellydance video.

I *should* go to the ARC, but usually I just don't get much exercise when the weather is bad. I don't mind the cold as long as the sun is out and it isn't super windy, but I definitely get a lot more exercise in the spring, summer, and fall!

What kind of exercise do you do when you cannot get outside?
