We went to the Jacksonville Zoo yesterday, my children and I. We walked around, looking at the exhibits and then the kids played on the playground and splash zone. We love going to the Zoo, we have had annual passes for years now! We are going to take the troop next month to the Zoo, do a scavenger hunt while we are there. Going to Tree Hill, as well, a nature preserve in the middle of the city :)

Wow! That is awesome! The key to keeping older girls is to keep them interested. You definately have that down pat :) Can I join your troop? LOL, JK!

My troop just got done doing our SU Encampment last weekend. They cooked all the food for 85 girls and parents all weekend. Plus they also went in pairs to lead groups in hikes. . and they did geocaching (each taking their own group so there were 9 teams total), tye dying and archery. They were up both Sat and Sun at 6am. . Sat they were in the kitchen almost 14 hours! They were very active! I know I lost 5 lbs! I was so proud of them!

And their summer trip is a 6 day 5 night adventure that was supposed to be next weekend but is having to be postponed to August because of a last minute work conflict I had come up (a tradeshow I can't get out of. .) They will camp at 3 different sites, do a local Bravarian themed town for day, do 2 days at a water / theme park, and two days exploring one of our large dams.

With 5 days left of school - it is hard to believe I will have a troop of 10th graders next year! I have 9 of my 10 girls coming back! Pretty good for this age group!

Go Team Golden Phoenix!

Look how lazy (busy) I have been lately! It's the 12th day into June, and just now getting to post the challenge!

Ok, most of us are no longer doing GS related activities. However, most of us are planning the next year's calendar as we speak. My challenge to you is to find one active field trip opportunity for your troop and post it here on our boards. If you are just planning, it is a good opportunity to think about incorporating active "activities" into the GS program. If you are doing field trips over the summer, it is a great way to keep everyone together as a troop, while "keeping the 'out' in Girl Scout".

I know, I know, GS is supposed to be girl-led. Noone said we couldn't give them ideas on field trips and activities :)
