Wendy, A slow economy is the perfect time to make a comparison sheet. Go to your local chain store get the prices of some of the name brands (both mid and high quailty) and compare them to our brands. I have ladies tell me all the time how much cheaper we are than walmart on certain things and we're already at half price of that other big direct sales cosmetics company (we all know who that is). And don't forget to let them know AVON will always have the 100% satisfaction gaurentee.

Hi ladies. I have been reading through the thread.
It is hard getting yourself out there. I have been with Avon for going on 2 years in June. But you need to continue. It may be discouraging. But remember, as they tell me, you have to go through 100 no's before you get 1 yes. Since you have already tried your friends and family, you need to go outside that box now. We cant rely on them for business all the time, that's why we have to go out and prospect for new potential business partners. And when talking about avon, get excited about it. I know I do. This is what's helping me with my daughter right now, so of course I'm excited about it.
You can't make money by making excuses.
So, just keep going! I was able to make UL in only 4 campaigns when i started leadership. And it's true, in leadership is where all the money is. If your upline is no help, contact your DM. If your DM is no help, I'm sure there is one rep out there that would not mind helping you out and giving youpointers! You can do it, just don't give up!
Hi there, Thanks for the support. Yes it just takes someone with Sales in their blood to get any kind of sales going with Avon or anything for that matter. I was thinking of trying to do some crafts and sell it, but then if I can't do well with Avon then I am certianly not going to hit it with crafts either.
So I have just had to take the word SELL out of my Avon Vocabulary. As it just doesn't work that way. So I am working on making it more of a service type thing, and not exactly sure of how to do go about doing that. Hopefully when my upline is able to get with me and we can discuss this I can find some ways to do it or she can help me find ways.
I was also just thinking to myself that I am not even going to be chasing people around for orders, that gets to be a little tiresome for me and sometimes not worth my time and effort. So if they want something I will let them contact me. Not me contact them.
Time to chasing them! and let them Chase me! LOL....
Thanks again and good luck with your Avon Business too. I wish everyone here much luck with Avon.
Hey there! I can't get a down line started either. My friends and family all say the same thing. We'll get orders for you and you get all the credit. I don't push the issue, I'm pretty sure that's their way of politely declining. I'm not selling a whole lot but luckily for me this was a way for me to get Avon products I love. My Avon rep retired and there are some products I couldn't replace with other brands. So I started. I don't "sell" either. I get samples and books and it's a hit or miss on the sales. Good luck to both of you in getting a down line going! Hopefully things will start to turn a corner. Keeping fingers, toes, legs and eyes crossed on that one!

Hi Veekob, Yes I have not even been able to get a down line started. When I ask people about referrals their responses are "well I don't know of anyone that would like to sell avon or even buy. So it really just discourages me.
I can't even get any of my friends to get interested in it either, and right now I don't truly blame them in this freaking BAD economy. I don't see how I can even encourage anyone to do it either. That is really sad, it kind of makes Avon look like not what they want people to think of it. A Recession buster, of which is not.
Avon wants you to think that getting a downline is really easy, it is not! They have even changed the way to get it now. Different type of program, called the believe in your success!! Hard to believe in your success in this economy!
Thanks for the suupport. Wish you the best of luck!
Sorry to hear this. I'm new and worried I'm not going to really sell anything either. I mean to make money. I'm told I need to get a down line... well, I don't want to do that. So I have a time limit and then will do the same thing. Wishing us both luck
I all, Well I have been in the avon business for almost a year and a half now, and haven't made any thing in the way of money for me. :(
I have come to the conclusion that I am not a sales perosn, was hoping that I would have changed a little but not so. I still do not have it in me. I don't want to give up my account just yet. I am keeping it open for personal use and a few family members and neigbhors and some friends who still order.
I am just going to take the SELL out of my vocabulary when it comes to Avon, because it is just not there, and now way to make it happen. The best I can do is add the SERVICE to it. So that is what I am hoping to start doing and get together with my upline when she is able to do that, and talk about some things that I can do in that line.
Selling is just not a part of me, but I can provide some service to others. I will let you know what happens and how it goes when I can talk to my upline.
So for now on I am not avon rep selling Avon, but an Avon rep. providing a basic service to those who need it and or want it.
