I saw an article a couple of days ago that dealt with food choices and satiety. It said that eating foods that contain more bound water leave you feeling more satisfied and for longer. These were foods like fresh fruits and veggies. I think this is the article: http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutrit

I hope it's ok to post a link to a Spark People article, and I hope this is helpful.

Welcome!

The myth that if you eat in the evening you will have trouble losing weight is just that... a myth. Your body does its job no matter what time you eat, so just concentrate on eating the right amount of calories overall. :)

I wish I could help recommend what KINDS of foods to eat before bed, but I can't. :( A team for diabetics may actually be able to help you with this... there may be someone on one of the teams with the same problem.

You may just find that, over time, you'll be less and less hungry at night as you adjust your eating habits, and it may work itself out...

Good luck! :D

Hello, I am diabetic and have a great amount of trouble sleeping as well. One of my real problems losing weight is that I find that unless I have just eaten before bed, I am so hungry I can't sleep even though I feel quite tired. I have tried high protein foods in an effort to make the hunger stay away longer but I find that really makes me wakeful. I would welcome any suggestions anyone might have. In addition, I have restless javascript:void(0)legs syndrome, which makes drinking water late at night not advisable. I sometimes take Ambien but there are times when I have to wake up early that I can't take it after a certain time. I don't like to take it every night because I don't want to be dependent on it. Help!
