Lyrica, I gained 15 pounds in TWO DAYS! My kidney specialist said "get rid of it!" and that was that... like I said, I went through a LOT of them! LOL

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Yes, I've noticed a big difference in the pain. I had a BIG allergic reaction to Lyrica, so I couldn't take that, and Tramadol did absolutely nothing for me.

Have you noted significant improvement in the pain? That is the thing with Lyrica for me. I didn't find much difference in pain levels whether on it or not. The expense was too great and the dental problems extensive. Right now the Tramadol is taking the edge off.

Just using it for Fibro. I think it took a couple of months or so to get up to the max dose. However, I went off it at one time and when I went back on, the Dr put me right back at the full dose.

How long did it take you to work up to your dose? Are you primarily using it for fibro, migraines, or seizures? Are you sleepy from it? Just curious....maybe I need to be a little more patient.

Thanks for your input!

I take Topamax and have few side effects other than some tingling in my hands when they get cold or when I overuse them, dry mouth and loss of appetite. I read that memory problems can result from Topamax, but then again, they can result from Fibromyalgia, so how can one tell? I take 200 mg twice a day.

You and me both, Kathy. My Dr. hasn't suggested it to me, thank heavens. I chose to come off Lyric and my other drug, using instead I use Tramadol for pain. The neuropathy in my feet hasn't changed and the muscle pain/burn isn't much different. So why put up with the dental problems and the excessive cost of the drugs. A 90 day supply of Tramadol is a $20 co-pay.I can handle that!!

I'm glad it's helped, and hope it works out as a permanent solution for you... emoticon

...but Whoa! I checked with my pharmacist, and I understand why my rheumatologist never suggested this particular medication--It reacts with virtually every other single drug I take, including the ones that are protecting my kidneys... and even a minor reaction with vitamin B12! emoticon

I'm glad I decided to give up trying new drugs until they come out with more viable options! LOL

I am trying Topamax. So far my pain is really better and I am sleeping better. However, again (like everything else I have tried) there are unpleasant side effects. My doc said one "benefit" would be weight loss. That would have been great but I can't say that I haven't lost any from taking this. So far I notice that some foods are beginning to taste lousy. Unfortunately, so is toothpaste! I have just a generally bad taste and I suspect--bad breath along with it. My face is tingling, my ears are ringing, and my right eye is twitching. This is all from 50 mg daily. I was slowly working up to 100 mg! I am dropping down to 25 mg to see if I can live happily on it without growing three heads and an extra finger or two. It has been nice to have a break from the pain. I had high hopes but I am guessing that I will end up just living with the pain.

Are any of you taking this drug with good results?
