I've actually been through a regular laundry list of drugs--with an equally long list of bad side effects. I have basically vetoed trying any more--I've had it with feeling like a guinea pig for every new thing that comes along, and spending time in the ER for my trouble!

I take ONE medication that is for the fibro, and that's a low dose of Vicodin with the proviso that I can take a larger dose when a flare-up occurs. I don't take enough to kill the pain, just what I need to so that I can function. I use meditation, ice, heat... and lots of exercise but in little bits and pieces... to keep the pain at bay. It doesn't always work, but it's the best thing I've found so far, and at least it doesn't make me sicker!

We all have to decide for ourselves what we can handle... good luck!

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." Walter P. Chrysler said it, I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Life comes in specific increments, which we receive as a gift of one moment at a time. That's why it's called t

A patent currently prohibits any generic Cymbalta from being manufactured and sold in the United States. However, there are places claiming to sell a "generic Cymbalta," but be advised that these medications are fake, substandard, and potentially dangerous. The earliest date that a generic version of Cymbalta could become available is in 2013, when the patent expires.

If you are getting generic cymbalta is it a fake drug!!!

I am on Savella.... I guess it has been about 5 months now. The only side effect I have noticed was hot flashes about 30 minutes-1 hour after I take the medicine. They only last 30 minutes or so, and the benefits seem to outweigh that. My pain levels are down to a manageable level most days... not gone by any means, but better. I was on Cymbalta before this and had bad side effects and no relief at all.

Yes, those are odd reactions, and I really hesitated before mentioning them to you. I do know the shivers and chills are a somewhat common side effect, but the head tingling has even my doctors baffled. Both my primary doc and my rheumatoligist looked at me like I was nuts when I tried to explain it. To be fair, while the tingling improved when I stopped the Savella, it still continues off and on to this day. So it may not have been related to the Savella at all -- just coincidental. Anyway... I do hope the drug works out well for you. Hang in there.

I've been on Savella for about 2 months now.
I have not had any side effects from it.
That being said, the only difference I've noticed is that my fibro fog seems to be better. I haven't noticed a decrease in pain at all yet.

I was previously on Cymbalta and it helped a lot, but had to be off it for a bit, and then when I went back on it I went thru real bad side effects getting back on it...then when I was finally back on it, found out my dr's office didn't put thru for the prior auth for it and I couldn't get it. By the time things where straightened back out I was back to the beginning again...I tried but I just couldn't go thru those side effects again. I am hoping that the Savella will do more to help manage the pain. It is nice to be able to think a bit clearer, but I need more than that.

As Cathy said, everyone is different. Give it a try, and I hope it is something that works for you. Both my drs spoke highly of it. They both said that it's helped others they have prescribed it to, and had very few side effects.

thanks for replying. Those are odd reactions. So far I have not had a bad reaction. I am praying it helps and that I do not have any weird reactions. I always seem to have the reactions that few have

I was on Savella for about three months. It definitely helped my pain, but I had some side effects that I didn't like. When I first started taking it, I had chills and goose bumps. The slightest cool breeze would send shivers up my arms and all over my head. This subsided after a few weeks. But then I started having an odd sensation on my head. It was as if I had a cap on the left side of my head, and it tingled as if it was asleep. It was not constant, but it occured frequently enough to make me uncomfortable. Overall, I didn't think the benefit of the drug outweighed the side effects. So my doctor switched me over to Lexapro, an antidepressant. That didn't work out for me either.

All that said, everybody is different. The side effects I experienced were actually supposed to be quite rare. I don't think it is a drug you should be afraid to try. Afterall, there are so few options out there for us, it is definitely worth giving it a chance. Good luck to you.

Hi, I have not used this med myself. I have heard other speak about it so I hope they will answer your message. My med company just switched my Lyrica and cymbalta to a generic form so next week I have to talk to my Dr. about this before I start taking them. I hope I can because the others cost quite a bit of money. Good luck to you and hang in there. emoticon emoticon emoticon
