My fibro flares leave me very achy and with lots of brain fog. I feel like my head is stuffed with cotton. I've been taking Cymbalta for years and it does help most of the time. When I'm in pain because I didn't pace my activities, I take Ultracet. It's the best medication I have.
Check out some of the supplements to take for fibromyalgia. Just search on "supplements + fibromyalgia". The most important ones for me are magnesium and vitamin D.

Thanks so much for your replies ! I want to be as educated as I can to avoid what has happened to me in the past. Already feel confident reading some of your recommended articles.
Welcome to the "club." Sounds like your doctor was quite knowledgeable and supportive. You at least got a flyer. Lol! Glad to know that you have a team working with you to figure things out. And you will. Good luck to ya! IM Magic is right, the reading room is invaluable!
The pounds are sliding off...
There's a HUGE amount of info on fibromyalgia--and that considering no one knows what it really IS! LOL
If you click on the team name at the top of this page, it takes you to a list of discussion topics--among them, our READING ROOMS, a sort of library thing set up with lots of links to useful websites, articles, lists of symptoms, even some tests and treatments... AND, of course, there are all the personal "chats" going on for specific questions... just check them out an join in anywhere!
Welcome to the team!

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." Walter P. Chrysler said it, I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL
Life comes in specific increments, which we receive as a gift of one moment at a time. That's why it's called t
Hi everyone ~ I was diagnosed yrs ago with RA and have taken many different meds to see what works etc. Currently, I am taking Enbrel & Methotrexate weekly. Around 2 months ago I began experiencing severe pain in my neck shoulders and upper arms. In a 3 week time frame the pain also developed into muscle weakness that left me feeling so debilitated. My entire life I have been blessed with good health and energy. Finally, last week I was seen by a new Rhumatologist that examined me thoroughly and without hesitation diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia. He was kind, intelligent and handed me different material regarding RA & Fibromyalgia to further educate me on both chronic diseases. He prescribed Elavil and Ultram. When I return for my f/u in 3 weeks he will determine if Cymbalta is the next med of choice. Currently, the pain and muscle weakness has decreased drasticly and I am finally feeling energetic and whole again. I look forward to being part of your team and hope you can enlighten me with your experience re: FMS. Whatare some of the signs / symptoms of a flare ?? What works for you re: meds, diet, lifestyle ? Thank you all in advance.
