Mmmm...I love breakfast!

1. Buffalo Grille on Bissonnet and Buffalo Spdwy. I love their coffee, but it can get really crowded.

2. Rustika Cafe. They have the best migas.

3. Baba Yega in Montrose for Saturday/Sunday brunch. If it's a nice day you can sit outside and enjoy the wonderful gardens.

I have eaten at Mama's a few times in the past year. I don't remember them having a French Toast like that. And...believe me, I would remember from the way you described it. From the way you described it, it almost sounds like the batter on a Monte Cristo sandwich. I just love those Monte Cristo Sandwiches from Bennigan's with the powdered sugar on top and the raspberry dipping sauce.

Has anyone been to Mamas Café on Westheimer? I remember going there once in the 80's and they had this french toast that was dipped in something awesome and then deep fried and served with powdered sugar on top. It was so good you didn't even have to put syrup on it! I don't think they have that particular french toast anymore...I went there in 97 and it was just regular french toast.

Pappas BBQ has awesome breakfast tacos. For a potato, egg and cheese it is around $2.10 and they are HUGE! You have to share with someone, they are so big.

Heart, I don't remember The Breakfst Klub being expensive. Just to check, I went to city search houston on the web. Check it out. Bunches of enlightening reviews: several said it was pricey, most seem to think it was okay. It's closed Sundays.

For me, it's Baldera's breakfast tacos. Made to order breakfast tacos while you wait with literally just about anything you want in them from bacon, sausage, eggs and cheese to chirizo, carne gesada and charo beans. (My apologies for the mangled spelling above).

It's tasty but most likely not good for me. So it's now a first Sunday of the month type of food.

It is possible to eat pancakes at IHOP and not feel guilty. A short stack ( 3 large buttermilk pancakes without butter )= 330 calories. Bring your own "I can't believe it's not butter spray" = 0 calories.
Bring your own Sugar Free Syrup or Request it= "Smuckers No Sugar" = 30 cal for 1/4 cup.
A side of Blueberries in Heavy Syrup= 55 cals for 1/4 cup.
Total calories for 3 pancakes with Blueberry Compote,
Sugar Free Syrup, and Butter Substitue = 415 calories.

Or if you want to cut calories even more, subtract the blueberries in heavy syrup and it is only = 360

How expensive is this place? I'm on a tight budget but LOVE to eat out once in a while!

Stephie, it's a long haul from Copperfield to The Breakfast Klub but well worth the trip. When you go, let me know what you thought.

A friend of mine, who's a model, says it's a "seen and be seen" place. Don't know about that.

"Wings and Waffles" are on the menu. Saw a lot of folks ordering that but I went for the Eggs Benedict, back in my pre-Spark days, which were delicious.

Happy Sunday to you!

Breakfast is the best meal. It's great to cook a big breakfast or enjoy one at your favorite restaurant.

I've heard of the Breakfast Klub but I've never been. It gets great reviews. I'm going to have to make that happen one day.

IHOP is a great favorite. I used to go the Beechnut/Loop location all the time when I went to Bellaire. Now in Copperfield I have one 5 minutes away and another 10.

Relax!!! God is in control!!!!

I've got four at the moment to recommend:

1. Good ole IHOP anywhere. DH and I go to the one at Beechnut and the Loop, across from Meyerland Plaza.

2. New York Bagel Shop Cafe on Hillcroft, south of S. Braeswood. Weekday breakfasts are $3.99, I think. Food is good and quickly served. Great gathering place. Used to see the late Marvin Zindler in there a lot, so you know it's clean.

3. La Madeline in Meyerland Plaza. Love the French roast coffee as well as the high-cal Breakfast Croissant.

4. The Breakfast Klub at Travis and W. Alabama is such a cool place. The food and service were excellent and the coffee was just plain great. I saw an article in the paper about things to do in Houston and this place was listed, so off we went one summer morning.

Had to wait for a table. We waited across the street in air-conditoned comfort listening to live "cool jazz." Anyone else been there?

Happy Breakfasting, y'all!

Okay, I've thought and thought all night about breakfast. Now please note, this is my favorite time of day to eat out. I love IHOP and The Waffle House...but my favorite place to eat breakfast is in Ohio...Bob Evans. They have the best biscuits and gravy in the entire world, they have fried mush which I LOVE...their fried potatoes are awesome but the calories of all this is way out of my range. Another favorite is also in Ohio, Schulers Donuts. They are the best donuts in the entire world. There, now you all know that I am a bad breakfast eater-outer!

So what time do you want us there? lol

Okay, one eating tip that I found is when I get a salad, instead of putting the dressing ON the salad, I put it in a small container and then dip my fork into the dressing then pick up my salad. It makes it much easier to control the amount of dressing on the salad. There are so many salads that seem SOOO good for you and healty and then you look up the calories and its amazing!

Most Sundays after church, my husband and I like to go out for a good breakfast. I love the strawberry pancakes at Cracker Barrel. I also love the chocolate chip pancakes at IHOP...mmmm...just thinking about them gets me excited. I bring my own "I can't believe its not butter" spray with me, and my own Sugar Free syrup. That way, it's a little healthier.
