Well, Maggie, sorry about messing with you with my late night post, but it looks like we are all tied up in the end anyhow. All well that ends well! And best of luck with your bar exam, although I'm sure that you will pull it off brilliantly as you have studied well and in advance, no less (so much better than I would have done, massive procrastinator that I am!)

Pixie! You totally foiled me by posting late last night! Grr!

Yesterday I was feeling all stiff and lethargic so I decided to throw on a tote bag and walk to the grocery store. It was a really beautiful evening, a little cool if you're standing still but perfect for walking. This neighborhood has changed so much since I lived here in high school (I'm staying with my mom while I study and take my bar exam) but it was fun to walk up the street and look in all the shop windows.

I remembered the last time in my life, the only time in my adult life that I haven't had a problem with my weight (although I was still chubby) was when I was just started college and I didn't have a car. I had to walk everywhere, and while I didn't own a scale I would bet I was around 180 lbs or so.

Anyway, it felt good to get out and actually use my body. Nothing against the elliptical, you guys know I love my gym time, but just walking to the store, buying the week's groceries, and walking home was a nice change of pace on a day when I didn't have any exercise scheduled.

I totally love roasted garlic - and it is super easy to do. It's my fave on crostini with a little bit of strawberry balsamic jam - yum!

I roasted garlic for the first time last night and made an awesome white bean and roasted garlic soup. Sooo good. I had no idea how easy it was to make roasted garlic, but apparently you just stick it in a 350 oven for 30 minutes. Who knew?

Anne, I was stalled too, at 164. Have seen some movement recently though. Doing this challenge and the 1 Ton challenge has really focused me again.

Even though I still have trouble logging on during the weekends, I am having less problems with overeating & under exercising. Down a total of 6 lbs in the last 1 1/2 months.

Keep up the good work and it will happen! I think our bodies, need to adjust to the new us before they will continue going where we want them to. To see if this time, no matter what, we are sticking to our new lifestyle. Just wish mine wouldn't take an entire year to decide it. (LOL)

Yeah, I'm trying to have some higher calorie days and some lower calorie days to try to jump start my metabolism. I'd gotten into a pretty regular pattern of 1200-1300, so I'm trying some days around 1500 and some closer to 1000 just to see if I can get things moving again. And I still want to hit up that body conditioning class that I didn't get around to all last week. It's back on the agenda for tomorrow.

Hee hee. Well, I have been stalled at 162 since last summer!!! Just kinda going up & down. My lowest was at 157, and that was just be a hair!

Anne, you are totally the best cheerleader! Thanks!

Right now I'm pretty worried about my goal of getting down to 228 lbs this month. I've been stalled in the mid-30's, but I guess two more weeks is plenty of time to drop 4 lbs. Also, my period is late, probably because of stress, but that never helps. (Sorry if that was TMI but I think we're mostly girls here and the guys can get over it because it's not anything to be afraid of.) Bar exam is in one week and one day (and lasts for 3 days), but I'm not freaking out yet, so that's good. Next week I'm sure I'll be going crazy.

Hi, Mahoueko! It's good to see you again! And yaay for hanging out not involving food. I have the same issue - in groups it's always a question of what to eat or what bar to go to. I don't even drink alcohol (allergic), so that makes socializing in that manner even worse. I wish that it were easier to come up with fun activities that everyone could get involved with - especially on weekend evenings. I frequently hang out with my other single pals then, and we never have any idea of what to do that involves meeting other people without liquor involvement. Hmmm...

Well, this was supposed to be a "business meeting", but only 4 of us went. We sat and talked for 2 hours. We often, after the meeting go for "pie" (wish I could put in accent marks).

But we just hung out and chatted in the meeting room instead. Many of my other times it's always about getting something to eat as well. Trying to limit that more.

The guys just didn't wanna do nails.

Mahouneko, that is an AWESOME positive. I need to do more of that. It still seems like it's always "let's get lunch/dinner/beer" but at least my friends know I'm trying to eat healthy so they let me pick the place. It seems like so often the alternatives are activities that don't let you interact as much: movies, games, etc. What did you do when you hung out with your friends? Sat around and talked? Ooh, manicures would be fun! (Well, for girlfriends, anyway.)

Anne, sounds like c25k is going really well for you! I tried it when I first started working out but my cardiovascular health just wasn't where it needed to be. Since then, every time I get on the treadmill, I have been able to run longer and I don't seem to get to that "oh god kill me now" point of physical exhaustion the same way I used to. Maybe I'll try it again later this year.

My best friend and I have birthdays close to one another, so we have "birthday weekend" every year. Needless to say, this was not my healthiest weekend!

Yesterday afternoon I started getting a little sore throat and by last night it was a full blown cold, complete with coughing like a little old man with tuberculosis. I feel better today, but I may stick to strength training or walking for a couple of days until my respiratory system recovers. Ideally, I would rest, but the sense of accomplishment I get from working out is addictive (not so much the working out itself, though I hear that comes with time).

My goal for the week is to add regular strength training to my routine. I play around at home with some 10 lb weights and body weight exercises, but when I was at the gym yesterday morning I peeked in on a "body conditioning" class that seemed to have people of lots of different body types (which is important to me as a beginner). They're offering it again at 5 PM on Tuesday and I am intent on recovering from this cold, swallowing my shyness, and taking this on! If I love it I could start going Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and maybe meet someone who could help me get into free weights, which is a goal of mine.

The tofu wings aren't super healthy if you consider the sauce, but I just looked at the page linked below and based my recipe off that.

The parts I made up as I went along:
1. For the second step of the dredge I mixed the flour with salt and pepper.
2. I baked them at 375 for about 40 minutes.
3. I made the sauce with half soy margarine and half Frank's red hot.

I read tons of vegan food blogs, so I'm always trying new stuff. :)
