“There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.”

When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world

My middle child swims. It's conference meet season and our high school team was hosting. We all timed lanes for 4.5 hours on Saturday. Timing the 50m heats is almost a workout in and of itself. Those kids are finishing in 20-40 seconds and then the next group is on the blocks. There were almost 20 heats for the 50 free. Then there were all the other events with multiple heats... I was almost glad when the 400m individual race came around. It was fun, wet, and wonderful! emoticon

PS-my swimmer cut 8 seconds off her backstroke time!!

Today my husband, our dogs, and I drove 30 miles to the city where our daughter lives. We shared a healthy brunch with her before she left for work. On the way back home, we walked with our dogs until it started raining. We also stopped by a sculpture gallery to enjoy the art work. It was a great feeling to spend time with family.

"When I say it’s you I like, I’m talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed.” Mr. Rogers
