Today's challenge is to start an IDEA JAR. First, you get a container. It could be a jar, a box, or any type of container that can hold pieces of paper. Next, you get a piece of paper and cut it into strips.
From there, you write down ideas of things you can do INSTEAD OF EATING on your strips of paper. This is for the times when your body isn't really hungry. Your brain, or heart needs something, but you are associating that "something" with a need for food. Put your ideas into your container.
When you feel the urge to eat (and you KNOW it isn't because you are hungry), go to your IDEA JAR and pull out one idea to do. You can put the idea back into your jar when you are done to use another time. Some INSTEAD OF EATING ideas that you can write down are:
*Go for a walk *Brush your teeth *Paint your nails *Clean a closet *Make a phone call
Now....it is YOUR TURN. What INSTEAD OF EATING ideas can you add to our list? Feel free to post some ideas. We ALL have times when we turn to food for comfort. These "ideas" help us turn that anger, loneliness, frustration, sadness, etc. into a positive moment. A idea can turn us away from a binge moment. That is ALWAYS a good thing.
