I try to choose an item as close to what I ate as possible. While this is not exact, it is better than not at all and it is a real eye opener to my splurges at such events. These seem to become 'spluges' even when I try to be conservative on the spot.

I'm a terrible one to ask about "tracking"...it sort of brings up the rebellious streak in me. I just can't be bothered by numbers, calculations, writing, etc.

What works for me is to REALLY *know* my foods well enough as to what I will avoid altogether (for me, most carbie foods are trigger foods), indulge on a limited basis, and those foods of which I feel comfortable eating a portion.

Thank you guys for the awesome response. I had a question for you guys also. how do you all track what you eat when you are in a restaurant or at a family dinner (both which you can't avoid). I really need advice in that area so that I can track my nutrtion wisely. It sometime is hard to say no to situation such as these, even if youreally dont want to go and afraid you are not able to rtrack wha t you eat in these scenarios. Please advice

When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world
