Doctors have no clue about nutrician or how the body function. They were medically trained to prescribe pills that make us die younger. You can get food sources of protein without meat. Even if this was tues she can add organic meats to her diet. They dont make money on natural cures. She can take sublingul forms of B12 under her tongue or get the shots like i am thru a doctor. Is say dont tell the doctor.I would say change your doctor to an integrated one. They combine nutrition, and total body wellness with alternate form of medicine and resort to surgery or pills as last resort if nothing works. You can cure most illness 30 days on a vegan diet and see results in 4. Seems to me this outweighs anything a pill offers. They had too many side effects and mask symtoms.

I'm VERY interested in juicing. My family is working with a very tight budget though, and it seems like juicing wastes a lot of the vegetable. Do you use the pulp of your vegetables for other recipes? Doesn't it take a ton of vegetables for one glass of juice?

I just got a juicer after watching Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. I'm not doing a fast, but I do one juice a day as a way to really boost my nutrient intake. Since I just got the juicer 2 days ago, I've only tried one recipe but I like it. I use: 2 handfuls of kale, 2 handfuls of spinach, 6 celery stalks, 1 cucumber, 1 lime, and 1 apple or pear. It is surprisingly good.

I'm interested to hear everyone's experience with juicing. I decided to start because I have been sick with some sort of cold or something for 2 weeks and I just wasn't getting better...but then I remembered, for the month leading up to my sickness (Thanksgiving- Christmas!), I was eating all kinds of sugar and vegetarian junk food, drinking every weekend (lots of holiday parties), and stressed about the holidays. Of course I wasn't getting better! I'm hoping the focus on putting nutritious food into my body will help speed the recovery and help me maintain good health.

Wait a minute - FalconBrother -- why would the doctors tell her that she can no longer be a vegetarian? That makes me think that you should seek another opinion. Now, I can see if they tell her that she needs to add protein to her diet to help her recover from the surgery or that she is low in B12 and should take supplements. But to tell her that she can no longer be a vegetarian seems crazy to me. Please share why the doctors said this to her.

I just started juicing myself. After watching the movie "Fat Sick and Nearly Dead" movie I started juicing three times a day and it seems my severe arthritic knees feel and work better. I recommend watching the movie, and going to You can do a receipe search for the word "juice". There is also a site called which has alot of information and blogs from people in the know about juicing and what they call rebooting. I do eat one meal each day but try to limit it to nuts, seeds, salads and fruit. I want to share with you that I believe in God and Jesus Christ as my Savior. In the Bible there is much information regarding eating properly. Daniel was a vegetarian who got his protein from a plant based diet and look how well that turned out for him. I have many things to be thankful for and I look forward to you doing good on this "reboot" cleanse and being able to put to rest all your concerns for eating and or drinking a plant based diet. Please note meat protein you eat is very hard on the body to digest. It is exactly one year today that I started eating vegetarian and I have lost 75 pounds. Before becoming vegetarian I was a mess with eating everything in site, sugar, fat, and dairy, along with all kinds of junk or fast foods. I ballooned to over 340 pounds. I look forward to hearing back from you. May God bless you and your support for your wife. Your sparkfriend, Kevin

Hi folks, I recently started juicing. I am on an unofficial juice fast right now so, that kinda makes me a raw foodist right now I suppose. I have done this for two big reasons. Hoping you guys with juicing experience will throw me your favorite recipes. I've discovered mean green juice and I love it.

The first reason I started juicing was for my wife. In short, she had stomach surgery due to an ulcer from medication she has been taking for over ten years. Her doctor said she could no longer be a vegetarian. Much of the time she can't eat solid food at all. They have her on a permanent "low fiber" diet. So, to give her well rounded nutrition I juice about three times a day. She is really enjoying the veggie juice. Even though her doctor told her not to be a vegetarian she still doesn't eat meat very often. In fact, I can't think of the last time she ate a meal that contained meat. I don't tell her how she should eat. I figure she's a full grown adult and can decide what she needs to do.

The second reason is that a few days ago I started having hives in the evenings for no explainable reason. So, I have been Juice fasting to see what happens. It got worse initially but, seems to be improving. I didn't do this to lose weight but, it wouldn't hurt my feelings to lose a few pounds. If I could lose ten to twenty pounds that would be cool.

My psychologist is named Harley Davidson.
