I've been vegetarian for over 20 years. It's only been since I've been trying out both raw and vegan foods that I've been more concerned with what I am really eating. I've read a few really good books and seen a few really good films which have been very eye-opening with the scary things that are going on in the food industry such as the seed/genetic take-over from Monsanto. I hope that more people become aware before it is too late!

This makes me focus more on natural and organic items even more now.And, sometimes I feel like a big jerk when I go out to eat, as I tend to ask a lot of questions. I'm always nice and friendly about it, and the servers are generally very understanding and adorable. But I feel like I need to ask a lot of questions so I'll be more informed. Funny thing, before I began a healthy, plant-based diet, I didn't care what I was eating and I didn't even know enough to be concerned about all this stuff that ends up in foods.

Pink slime, per my understanding, is beef 'trimmings' that have also been treated with ammonia. I would think any vegan products therefore would NOT contain pink slime, but of course, raworganicvegan is right that the safest choice is always non-processed.
Anything processed should be avoiding including boxed caaned packaged. The only safe food is raw organic and prepared and eaten that way. Our commercial phood supply issuing making this country fat sick drugged mind foggy and dieing too young after suffering.
