The best tip I can give is plan ahead. My husband and I prepare a week's worth of salads (for our pound of raw vegetables daily) in advance. We also chop veggies and fruit (when appropriate) and have them at hand. Dinners are typically thrown in the slow cooker in the morning in less than 10 minutes (unless we're doing a stir fry or tofu scramble, which we will prepare fresh) and are ready come dinner time in the evening.
We actually probably spend much less time on food preparation than most folks because we do so much in advance, and eat a lot of stews, which are simple to throw together. Yet we eat pounds of fruit and vegetables daily, and love what we eat.
I'm so glad to have found some other people following his plan or at least trying to incorporate the main principles. Even as a veg*n I feel I rely too much on convenience foods and may still be lacking in the fresh, unprocessed foods department. And I think trying to eat more raw foods will help with that. I just read last night on his blog that Dr. Fuhrman recommends 75% raw. So I found some websites that gave me some good recipe ideas:
I made a smoothie from the first one yesterday. It was called Oatmeal for some reason, although there are no oats in it! Just fruit. And I made a green smoothie this morning from the second link (I think it was called Rejuvenator) and it was pretty tasty too.
Great! After two days, I do feel as if I may have to alter it a LITTLE bit, as I definately think I need some additional "good oils". But I really do like the smoothies for breakfast. -It is so nice to know that I just had breakfast AND just got two vegetables in! :)
My husband and I read Dr. Fuhrman's book "Eat to Live" a year and a half ago. It has changed our lives! I lost all the weight that I wanted plus a little more and have kept it off! We now maintain a mostly Vegan diet and feel so much better and happier.
I am just starting the Eat to live program today and just finished my first spinach shake! I'd love to hear from anyone else just starting this program so that we may share tips and tricks. -We'll see how it goes!
I have the book, but haven't really followed the plan, I just use it for ideas. However, I have some friends that eat by this plan all the time, and exercise 4 times a week, they got really skinny and toned and look years younger! Maybe it's time I give it a try ....
Eat to live!

I have the book, but couldn't stick with the plan because my family didn't like the food. The Engine 2 diet book worked out better. It is vegan also and the recipes taste great. A lot of it is a slant toward mexican food which I love.
I have Dr. Fuhrman's book 'Eat to Live' and I'm re-reading it right now. I read it before, and since I was already vegetarian/95% vegan at the time I didn't really take the message to heart or follow the plan. However, I am really determined to get healthy and would like to try to follow his plan more closely. I still need to lose about 20-30 lbs., and although I probably eat better than most people on the Standard American Diet, there are plenty of un-healthy vegan foods that I find myself eating. I was just curious to see if anyone else has tried his plan and if anyone had any advice and/or recipes to share. Thanks!
