You should try a calorie calculator to get some idea of how many calories you should be taking in. Start with this one and tweak the numbers as needed until you are successful dropping at least 1lb per week consistently. www.mayoclinic.com/health/calorie-calculat or/NU00598

You have been so awesome. Thanks for the information. I am counting my calories and my first goal was to lose 50 pounds within a year. But I don't want to take in too many calories.

My goal was to lose 50lbs as well and I felt comfortable with that number, but I also gave myself a whole year to lose it. It didn't take me a year to lose it (it took me 26 weeks), but I set a realistic timeframe for myself. You should be aiming to lose 8-16lbs in two months...not 20. Take it week by week and it all adds up. This worked for me...one week at a time and chart your progress.

My goal is to lose 50lb to start. However i don't know what is a healthy time frame. I don't think i want to give myself a year to lose 50lb but I just don't know. Can anyone assist with this. I want to lose the weight in a healthy way. I guess I just don't know what the time frame should be. Thanks.
