Im guessing it shocks your muscles and give you a more effective workout because your body is so used to doing the same exercise routine plus it really works out your quadriceps and calves then rather your butt and back legs.
Technically speaking I have no clue but I do it because I can feel "the burn" in different muscles than spinning forward and it is a little bit more difficult.
You don't see the obstacles until you take your eye off the goal!
I only go backwards on the eltipical when the restiance is high and i can lean over a bit to feel in the hamstrings

of spinning backwards on the Elliptical machine? I used to do it when I took spin classes, and enjoyed it this morning, too. Just wondering.
