Anyone up for a Friday evening walk? Can do the small loop starting at 5 or 6pm.

We're still walking just not the same park every weekend. It would be interesting to check it out after the rain we got.

I think it fizzled out, and my state park pass expired, so I need to renew that soon ... but I would love to walk with people on the NW side of town.

Hi JELAWTON3. No worries, turns out I actually enjoyed the solitude. Also, I am not sure if I am not too slow for you. It seems it took you just around 1.5 hours, while it took me about 3 hours (including from the main parking lot and back). I am still pretty slow and would not want to hold anyone back. If you don't mind walking with a slowpoke, I am up for it. emoticon

Sorry we missed you HEIDIJUNEBUG. My wife and I had to weigh in at WW and my sister was leaving the next morning. Hope we can try to meet here again and with more folks as I would really like to do the back country.

This particular SUNDAY is booked with birthday party and Church stuff, but prob next Sunday or weekend, and Monday is a holiday so might even be able to go on Monday if someone wants to. Gov't Canyon is open on Friday - Monday.

I can only come out on Saturdays and Sundays, sorry. Is anyone interested in meeting up this Sunday to walk/hike at Government Canyon?
HealthyHabitGirl, no worries, I am out of shape myself and still building up stamina and speed. ;-)

I have walked both loops on the front country and would love to walk the back whenever anyone wants to give them a go. For us who walk pets they have posted signs that pets aren't allowed on back country trails.
I plan on walking GC this Friday in the AM if anyone is interested.

awesome - we have a state pass too (two actually) and I do drive a mini-van (But I have five children) ... I would really love to have new faces at Gov't Canyon with me.

How soon do you want to start up ? and by the way - I'm a novice, overweight and out of shape, but willing to get out there and do what I can !

Terry, James and I have been wanting to try Government Canyon. It's a little far for a weekly thing for me (I live in LaVernia) but occasionally would be really cool! Let us know!

Absolutely. I was actually going to suggest that myself. emoticon
I have the annual pass for the Texas State Parks, which covers the admission for all visitors within the same vehicle. My car only seats five, but if we become a larger group maybe someone has a van or SUV. emoticon
I can do Saturdays or Sundays, any time of day.

Would anybody in here be interested in a regular meetup at Government Canyon State Park, in the NW side of town. Lots of hills and trails for hiking.
