Got there at the last minute because I was thinking it started at 5 instead of 4 pm. Large crowd, great energy. Saw three people I knew, two of whom were running with timed chips trying to make a personal best. Both actually did beat their best times, one of them by 4 minutes. I think Gina finished in 42 minutes and I forget how many seconds. She was pretty over the moon about her time.
I walked the 5K in 1 hour 12 minutes. There were not too many people behind me, but I wasn't last!
I pushed because for me that was a 24 minute mile which is what I usually average but this time it was without a single stop for a 30 second to two minute break like I do on our Saturday training walks. By the time I was done my back was hurting pretty good, but that's okay, I sat for a while and was fine. I'm hoping Gina or Mary posts their pictures today because I left without my camera and my phone died about 1 mile in because of using it so much all day without charging it. Gina got one of me crossing the finish line. I'll put some up as soon as I can steal some of theirs off of facebook. I didn't really feel like doing it yesterday, but I'm glad I did because I'm not having to live with any regrets today, and because I felt like I really honored my mom by doing this.
