I would love to do it all. I already have a ticket for the Fiesta Flambeau parade on the 28th. I would also love to go to NIOSA and/or the Oyster Bake. So if you are going to either or would like to go please let me know! If you are going to anything else you think I shouldn't miss let me know that too!
Anyone participating in the Pooch Parade? I've been thinking about doing that too!
Amanda, I am not knocking NIOSA at all, but if you have never been you need to be forewarned. In my younger, wilder, party girl days I was always to be found there, pushing through the throngs of people and getting tall, good looking men to hoist me up on their shoulders so I could see what was going on. Today that couldn't happen, LOL! but I remember those days fondly. That said, if you are not into being butt to elbow deep in a surging crowd of boisterous folks, NIOSA might not be for the claustrophobic. I couldn't do it anymore. Excessive crowding is just not appealing anymore. I gotta see where I'm going, and as SHAOLINWARRIOR pointed out, it is basically a wild drinking AND eating party.
I prefer the King William Fair and Parade these days, myself. It still draws a big crowd, but isn't as over-crowded and has a friendlier family atmosphere.
If you plan to Fiesta dress comfortably, & wear good walking shoes. It gets hot and humid even early in the day. Bring plenty of water, I even suggest a hydration system so you can be hands free and dont have to carry your empties. Sunscreen and glasses are a must. Have an open mind, as a lot of the events are wild drinking parties. Many people go all out on costumes. You might see anything! LOL Be patient, lines are long, crowds are huge, we are a tourist city. Check the website, there are events for every type of person, and even pets. CAUTION: Fiesta can be hard on an eating plan, but you will do a lot of walking. Be safe, and have fun!

313 Days until: San Antonio Rock N Roll 1/2 Marathon
I'm giving you a link to the Fiesta events. The most popular are the Battle of Flowers Parade, Night in Old San Antonio (NIOSA), King William Fair, Fiesta Flambeau, and River Parade. There are over 100 events going on packed into 11 days. Here you go: www.fiesta-sa.org/
I have the day off from work on Friday, April 27th. The college is closed. It's like a national holiday, lol. I plan to go to the casino that day. But I'd like to try to meet up that Saturday or Sunday (whenever Fiesta is).
Cuyler, great idea! I know my husband and I plan to go to King William fair and parade this year which is on the 28th around 9:00 a.m. - that's one possibility for a meet up.
I think it would be great if members posted where they are going and will be in case others want to meet up. The leaders don't have a specific meet up planned, but you guys are welcome to come up with one of your own! I know I would probably come!
