First of all, thank you to everyone and many thanks for all of your support. It came at the perfect time. I know I have been MIA, but the stress got to be too much and any time I could have alone to myself, I took advantage of. I wanted to update everyone on my progress since I haven't posted since October. I had my bilateral mastectomy with expanders on October 28th. The node was clean... YEAH!!!. amazingly enough I lost over 10 pounds... it's that last 10 pounds I tell ya :-) I have been healing nicely and the "new girls" are coming along fine. I have two fills left and then I will wait for the "final" (hopefully) surgery. Now for the good news.... When I met with my oncologist, I was given the dubious task to decide if I wanted Chemo or not. This has to be the hardest decision I have EVER had to make. I opted for the Oncotype DX test. When we recieved the results (finally on December 2) we decided that, given my number, the benefits I would recieve from chemo were shadowed and out weighed by the risks I would be opening myself up to. So on Dec. 2nd I had the injection to kill my ovaries and started tamoxifen. I will be having the BRCA test done next year as well since my mom was diagnosed and I am only 41.
I just wanted again to say thank you and I hope I can provide support to others as well. It has been a VERY scary journey the last 2 months and I am ready to resume life.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
