My Dr. told me No soy or flax seed as they act like estrogen, and my bc was estrogen positive... I've always been told green tea was good for you too. Be interesting to hear what todays news is about it. I'm sure it will be different than yesterday or tomorrow's!

I'm going to an info session entitled "Nutrition and Breast Cancer" at the Cancer Centre on Wednesday. I'll be sure to ask them too!

I'm assuming that flax seed and soy are estrogenic. My oncologist told me to stay away from both. Next time I see him, I will ask him both about the green tea and the flax seed. Argh! Thanks for all the help everyone.

"In a nutshell, this research showed that giving a dietary source of flaxseed with the anti-estrogen drug Tamoxifen to mice injected with estrogen-dependent breast cancer cells resulted in enhanced anti-cancer activity of the drug tamoxifen in both simulated pre- and post-menopausal situations."

"There is a recent preliminary small human study showing that ingestion of 25 grams of ground flaxmeal per day in women with newly diagnosed post-menopausal ER+ breast cancer decreases biological markers of tumor growth the same amount as the anti-estrogen drug tamoxifen during the time period between diagnosis and surgery"

" In one cell culture study, flaxseed lignans reduced stickiness and movement of breast cancer cells, both properties related to the cancer's ability to spread or metastasize."

I don't drink tea as it upsets my stomach too. Herbal tea is ok for me, though, as is coffee - go figure! But I hadn't heard flax is a problem - I just started adding that to my food. ARGH!

Hi! I noticed reading through some of the posts that some people are saying not to drink green tea. That's a new one for me. I'm reading a book called The Anti-Estrogenic Diet and in it it says that green tea actually inhibits estrogen. My oncologist said to stay away from soy and flax seed which is supposed to be worse than soy. Can anyone let me know what was said about green tea?
