What a wonderful kitty! He deserves some extra treats and catnip, that's for sure!
"Imagine that in front of you is a castle. That's where you want to be. But surrounding that castle is a moat, full of piranha. The only way to get into Sexy Abs Castle is to swim across the moat and let the little fish painfully chew off hunks of fat. The real situation is exactly like that, only the swim will take years." tinyurl.com/piranha-moat
Thai, I LOVE your story! I agree...kitties give back when we give to them.
About 25 years ago I was diagnosed with stage 1 ovarian cancer...Each day as I hung my head over the commode, my tuxedo cat, Iggy, would come sit by me with his paw on my leg...to comfort me, I'm sure. Years later I noticed that whenever he was sick, he would lie down on the bathroom floor by the commode. He knew I'd understand something was wrong.
I love animals...they listen to things we miss!

Okay so this is a bit off subject but... When Iwas in the hospital, the Day of my double mastectomy a lady came in with a therapy dog, "Juliet". My husband had just left and I was beat, ready to sleep but I am an animal lover so what could I say? Juliet jumped on my bed and lay next to me and put her head on my belly. The lady with her was shocked and said she never does that, she is normally shy but well behaved and comforts patients. She said this was a rare occurance and she must feel some connection with me or knows I love dogs. Then I told her the surgery I had and she said she was a breast cancer surviver as well and my surgeon was hers! Juliet sees all sorts of patients but she connected with me and perhaps because her mom went through this too. It was pretty awesome.
What a wonderful story. I know my cats kept me great company when I had thyroid cancer, after the operation. One in particular would head but my chin until I would lift it and he would lie across my neck, keeping me warm and tickling me with his purring. Never did it before or since, just during that recovery time. Odd behaviour, but comforting!

I think a good new topic might be: How you found your cancer". Many may be mammos or self exams but for the gals just checking in, they may have new prospective and in a small way perhaps we can prevent or nip it in the bud, for others?!
That is such a cool story. While I was going through recovery from surgery and then chemotherapy my black lab was constantly with me. Either laying next to my bed or on it and when I was sitting up he always sat at or on my feet and wouldn't leave. It was very comforting and obvious he thought that was his purpose.

Yes, believe it or not, my cat found my breast cancer. When he was 2, he swallowed three feet of string and had to have surgery. I almost lost him. Jump ahead 4 years. On the morning of his birthday, May 1st, 2009, I awoke with him lying directly on my chest, which he never does. He was being quite ornery about it and would not move. I finally gave him a good push and, in the process, hit my breast and found the lump. He has never slept on my chest since. I was fortunate in that my cancer was caught early and did not spread. I would have been in a lot worse shape if it wasn't for him. I like to think that he was somehow returning the favor. I saved him and then he saved me.
