Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. I hope the testing for your daughter comes back negative, but it sounds like you are preparing yourself for whatever the result is. That is good.
I hope you will feel free to get involved in the conversations and challenges we have here, the ladies on this team are absolutely the best! I know you will come to love and appreciate them very soon!!
"I love you, Lord; you are my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety." (Psalm 18:1-2, NLT)
I was diagnosed last Jan. with breast cancer at the age of 40. I had already known I was a prime candidate for it. My sister was diagnosed at the age of 35 and she is one yr. younger than I. When she had her's. We both got genetic testing done and both carry the BRCA1 gene. I had my ovaries removed back then -to reduce the amount of estrogen in my body. I still managed to get ER+ cancer. I had bi-lateral mastectomies w/ immediate reconstruction. The surgery came out wonderfully but I don't care what anyone says they just aren't the same as the natural thing. My daughter is going with me to meet with the oncologist tomorrow - to get the gene testing done. She is only 20 yrs. old. We are both hoping that this is to alleviate our fears but know in all Reality we could be further from doing that. It'll be better knowing is how she feels. As her mom - I am not quite sure how I will feel - if I have passed the gene on to her. So these are my struggles at the moment, all the while trying to improve my slef esteem by improving my body image! Also I am taking Femara for treatment now and do have joint pain but fight through it - while exercising.
