Sheri, I'm sorry it turned out to be malignant. Best of luck with your rads, and remember to use aloe or whatever cream/lotion they recommend!!! I used it a lot and although I got what amounted to a sunburn, it wasn't a huge deal. I think the lotions really made a difference.

Karen,
Thank you being so kind and caring. It turned out to be malignant. It was DCIS 1/2 inch. I am now undergoing radiation therapy and was put on Arimedex. I have already taken tamoxifen the first time (13 years ago.) They can not put me on it again. I am to receive 33 treatments of radiation and I am on number 9 only 24 more to go. Thank you again for your kind words.
Regards,
Sheri59

Sheri, hugs to you. It's the waiting that's the worst part, as you well know. Hopefully it'll turn out to be benign! Hugs and healing wishes, and I'm hoping for good news!

Not sure this is where this belongs but here goes.
It's been a long time since I was on the page 13 year survivor.
I had my mammogram 10/05/09. The tech doing the mammo was taking extra care with my right breast.
(The original cancer was on the left, had a lumpectomy), that was at 8:30 in the morning by 4:30 that afternoon I got a call from the Doctor's office, they had found micro calcification on the mammo. "I needed to see my surgeon. they had already gotten me an appointment at 3:30 PM on 10/19/09. So tomorrow I see the surgeon. I am really frightened. I was 46 the first time and I am now 59. My mother died in 1979 at the age of 47 from breast cancer. I just hope if it is breast cancer it is in it's early stages. I had chemo, radiation and 5 years of tamoxifen with the left side, it is supposed to cut your chances of getting in on the other. I had DCIS
10/19/09- I saw the Surgeon today. He said it appears to be benign, but we need to do a needle biopsy to make sure. They will be setting it up in the next week or two.

Dear Maricarmen, you are absolutely doing the best thing by just being there. You do not have to say a word, just be there to listen and give hugs as required. I know that sometimes it is much harder on those close to the cancer patients than it is on the patient themselves. I know this to be true because I watched my husband and family while I was diagnosed and undergoing treatment. Don't feel hopeless or helpless, and know you are not alone with these feelings. God Bless you.

Please keep Safeway Terri in your thoughts and prayers. Tomorrow she undergoes surgery for her aggressive breast cancer. She lives in the Pacific Northwest.

Water is very important for us. We may, and I do, require more than the 8 glasses a day. The link goes to a water calculator I use to see what I need for my current weight. Mt requirement has dropped 9 ounces due to weight loss. Yipee!
