What I like most is really dark. Lately I've been on a low carb diet, so my go-to chocolate is Lindt 90%. Sugar is the next to the last ingredient and per square, the cals and carbs are reasonable and do-able. :)

I agree with you on wanting small bit of the real thing then on a sugar substitute. I love the milk chocolate taste too so much more than dark chocolate. emoticon

I'm starting my ticker over with going low carb.

My favorites are small quantities (a square or two) of good chocolate bars, such as Cadbury or Lindt, a Russell Stover sugar-free toffee square or pecan clusters (53 cal. each), or for a frozen treat Weight Watchers "Divine Triple Chocolate" bars.

To me the Jell-o pudding chocolate fat-free tastes much better than the sugar-free for about the same calories. The non-refrigerated ones.

And I'm a milk chocolate gal. Dark chocolate is okay, but doesn't do it for me like milk chocolate.

There are things like chocolate rice cakes, but I'd rather have a little of the real thing than eat all around what I really want.

Skinny Cow has come out with Heavenly Crisp bars that are just yummy. They give you the feeling of a candy bar, but are light and airy and alot less calories and fat. Hershey's has also come out with a crisp light and airy one too that is more healthy. Once in awhile I'll get my chocolate fix with one of these and I feel satisfied and also like I'm cheating! emoticon

My lowest-cal way to get a chocolate fix is actually the sugar-free Jello chocolate pudding. The DARK Chocolate is the best, but I can't find it as easily as I can find the regular chocolate flavor, or even the double chocolate flavor. Plus, according to the gestational diabetes diet my nutritionist gave me about a year ago, it counts as a serving of milk!

Outside of that, i keep a bar of Lindt chocolate with chili in the pantry and break off a square of that when I'm having a craving. It's just the amount of chocolate I need, and it's not crazy spicy--just enough to have an enjoyable burning left when the chocolate's gone.

I buy myself a container of dark chocolate coated almonds. By allowing myself to have one (or occasionally 2) snacks per day can make it last for more than a month. A little bit is good for you so as long as there are no occasions of eating large amounts, it is not going to be so hard on your weight. To help keep it somewhere where it is not in the direct line of sight and somewhere you do not spend a lot of time. Watch out for upsetting events since that seems to increase our cravings.

Has anyone tried Peanut Butter&CO dark chocolate PB? Not only do I love chocolate, but PB as well. Its almost 5 bucks for the jar but its worth it! Basically it dark cocoa mixed with PB. 2TBS for 150 calories! And its vegan. Its great on granny smith apples. I spoon it on so it resembles a taffy apple and gobble away!!!

Trader Joe's has portion controlled 100-calorie chocolates. I don't know about the milk chocolate, but I can tell you the dark chocolate is FABULOUS. It's 70% cocoa Belgian dark chocolate, and it's to die for.

Thought I'd share a treat (not too unhealthy) that I got from the South Beach Diet I tried a while back.
You drizzle melted dark (quality) chocolate over pistachio nuts. Break up into pieces when cold.
It is to die for. Great with coffee. You could drizzle chocolate over anything you fancy. (Raspberries are nice)

I've wondered about that cookbook. I just wasn't sure it was worth adding yet another to the collection. I can't wait to try the lava cake recipe! That's always my favorite dessert choice! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Everyone! I know some of you have heard of Hungry Girl but don't use some of her recipes b/c she uses products like Egg Beaters. Well I just made her lava cake today & OMG I had to share it with all of you. This is SO good & so easy & I used egg whites b/c I didn't have the egg beaters. Give it a try & tell me what you think! (Can't beat a lava cake for 180 calories & 4.5 grams of fat!!)

I make the MOST AMAZING chocolate sauce/dip that you ever want to eat.... and it's guilt-free.
Use 1 large avocado (healthy fats!!), 6 T cocoa, 1/4 cup grade B maple syrup, 2 T Sucanet (optional), sprinkle of salt, 1/2 tsp vanilla, pinch of ground cinnamon and 2 T plus 1/2 cup purified water.
1. Combine the avocado, cocoa powder, maple syrup, Sucanet, 2 T of the water and the vanilla extract and cinnamon in a food processorf fitted with the S blade and process until smooth.
2. Add the remaining 1/2 cup of water if you want a thinner sauce. The more water you add, the thinner the sauce.
Very versatile recipe.. 2 T water makes a great dip, 1/2 cup water a sauce over ice cream. Make it to suit yourself.
I love to dip grapes, bananas, and any kind of fruit in this sauce.
Easy and fast to make....and a no-mess cleanup!!
ENJOY!!!!

When you make a decision, it shall succeed for you, and upon your ways the light shall shine. (Jb 22:28)

Okay I'm new & I just saw this. So I make a "Peanut Butter Dip" (I submitted the recipe if anyone wants it) & love it with Apples, Pretzels, etc. So I was at the store & I have a terrible weakness for NUTELLA (who doesn't, right?) I decided to use it instead of the Peanut Butter - OMG it is soooo good. My hubby took some with the cut up apple I fixed him with his lunch. B/C the consistency is different - I used 1 cup nutella, 2 - 8oz Pkgs FF Cream Cheese, & 1/4 cup splenda (though it really doesn't need it)& a little bit of skim milk to smooth it out. It is sooo good you have to try it. Making it this way puts it at 80 calories for a 2 Tbs Serving (Batch makes 24 servings)

Like some of the others, I turn to a chocolate drink for healthy choco-treats, rather than candy. My current favorite is an 8 oz rice milk or oat milk hot chocolate made with just 1 tbsp of TJ's sipping chocolate and a packet of stevia sweetener. :)

I really enjoy slicing up some fruit and lightly dusting them with some chocolate powder (Trader Joe's sipping chocolate is what I've been using lately since I'm trying to use it up). Yum yum!

Also - Clif Nectar Dark Chocolate Raspberry Bars are a GREAT fix. They're so delicious and not that bad for you to boot. They're 2 servings of fruit I believe.

Ok I've got the best thing for those PB Chocolate Chip rice cakes. Put some Fat Free Cool whip on it then add some banana slices on top. You can also add some Fat Free Caramel syrup or you can put it in the freezer for 30 min to an hour and it would be like an ice cream sandwich. Check out the recipe on my web page!!

KATELB that sounds awesome. Because to me, the only thing better than chocolate, is chocolate and peanut butter! LOL!!! My newest chocolate snack is the Hershey's kisses 'snackster' 100 calorie packs. It has mini kisses plus mini cookies.

Ok this isnt a healthy recipe so if your feeling week dont read on :)....
I really cannot live a sustainable healthy life style without dark chocolate SO I use chocolate as my motivation. I know that if I eat healthy all day and have the calories left to 'spend' I get chocolate, if I m already too high I dont. But I live for:
1 TBL spoon of crunchy peanut butter (I have a hard time getting enough protein and its SO good)
1 TBL spoon dark chocolate melted together
Then I savor it on 2 gram cracker squares.

Makes all the hard work worth while!

chocolate's been my biggest diet killer. esspecially since every holiday has chocolate... first it was holloween, then xmas, then easter... i've been looking for better ways to satisfy my sweet tooth. i've been going to the quaker rice cakes (the PB and chocolate chips ones are good) i'm thinking of trying the pudding cake idea...

anyone know of any good brand of dark chocolate that is low in fat. i LOVE the dove ones, but they are so high in fat, saturated fat, and they have cholestorol.

my favorite ways to enjoy chocolate:
3. sugar free/fat free chocolate fudge pudding
made w ff milk.
benefits: calcium and protein for 70 cal

2. carnation instant breakfast sugar free
chocolate flavor in the blender w/ 1/2
banana (and maybe raspberries if avail)
and 8-10 ice cubes and 1 c ff milk
benefits: protein, calcium, fiber, and a serving
(or 2) of fruit

1. favorite: fill a 1/3 cup with a mix of raisins
and cherry craisins. mix w/ 1 tbs of semisweet
choc chips. You get a serving of fruit this way
and the small amount of chocolate really goes a
long way

BROASTERGAL- maybe when they bring you all those chocolate "gifts" you can eat one or so, and leave the rest on a break table at work so everyone can share? It's tough - I work part-time, and it seems like every morning someone brings in doughnuts. Not chocolate, though, so they are pretty easy to pass by!

This one went to drinks because Tess was cold. I'm sure I've got a few scattered around somewhere, too - or at least a few off the shelf healthier varieties.

I do not think we are intentionally using diet items nor just drinks, I think it just was a topic that we got stuck on.

I have many yummy chocolate recipes that are healthy, from breafast to dessert and would be happy to post some when I get the time.

Well, I was certainly looking for a healthy chocolate fix, but not drinks... I almost thought I was reading the wrong thread for a moment. LOL. I need a healthy fix, but something substantial, like maybe cocoa wheat pancakes, with no syrup, but don't know how to cook. I already know where the diet brownie mix and the diet cocoa mix is at the store, but that doesn't stop you from going overboard, and I need to NOT go overboard. Lets see, the boys at work love me, in the last week I have gotten 1 chocolate almond hershey deluxe candy bar, 1 3 oz bag of ghiradelli mixed chocolate squares, 1 6 oz can of ghiradelli mixed chocolate squares, 1 box of chocolate cookies, and a box of butter crackers, AS GIFTS. Just because I am on a path to a lifestyle change doesn't mean to overload me with treats, but tell the guys, they think I am on a diet, and I believe are mentally trying to ruin it for me.

You can find this recipe on my Spark Page, as well as in the Spark Community recipes. I have found that Kids usually don't like the bitter/strong choc flavor, so .... enjoy this beverage with adult taste buds in mind.

"skinny hot choco recipe"

2 TBS Cocoa Pwd, unsweetend
1 c. non fat milk (I use Lactaid)
1 Splenda packet
1 tsp real sugar
1/4 tsp real vanilla extract

In a small sauce pan, warm the milk on Low-Med/Low, stirring occasionally.

In a separate bowl, mix the cocoa and the sugar/splenda. Add 1/4 cup of the warmed milk and whisk gently, until thick and smooth. Scrape the cocoa mix back into the saucepan of milk and whisk until cocoa is incorporated. Add the vanilla for one final stir. Pour into a mug and enjoy immediately. serves one.

***DO NOT allow milk to scorch or it will ruin the flavor***

You have my permission to tinker w/ my recipe if you don't like dark choc...
decrease amount of cocoa by half if you don't like bitter choc taste.

Yes, Chocolate rice cakes, very yummy.

I make hot chocolate protien shakes, I take a packet of sugar free hot chocolate and add a scoop of chocolate protien powder then add hot water and that is my breakfast on a cold morning, sometimes I add about 1/4 c of milk to make it taste like milk chocolate

O.k. this may sound strange, but it was actually pretty yummy...

For a little snack I just took:
1 Cup of Plain Non-fat Yogurt
A small handful of Organic Raisins
1/2 Large Scoop of Chocolate Whey Protein Powder
& mixed it all together.

High protein, Sweet, & low carb. Yum!!
