hey that could be your element of surprize to be singing up a storm and catch the other runners off guard! hehee...

there was this man at the gym that i used to go to.. and he would have his ear buds in and be JAMMING to the tunes.. some rockish type thing I assumed because he was soooo animated.. his head moving all over the place and he would lip sync the words... he would make a perfect milly vanilly? (is that the group?)... ahah!!!
but it is enjoyable to watch...so I would say... let it rip! heeeeee. have a blast!

I'm heading to the gym for a run right now and now I'm going to be thinking about what I'm thinking about! Actually, I think I think alot about numbers. At what point I'll raise the incline higher (never lower than a 2%) or sprint up to 6.5 (that's the fastest I can run without losing steam or feeling like I'm going to fly off the treadmill!) I'll be happy when the weather warms and the days get longer and I won't have all those numbers right under my nose! Running outside is just more natural.

Good Afternoon Ladies!!!

I can't believe I am typing this but what the heck...

I was running on the treadmill at the gym this morning...my gym has 1 row of bikes, 2 rows of treadmills, 2 rows of elliptical and a row of stair steppers (needed for the visual)

I was on the middle treadmill in the first row and the entire run I was thinking if I keep running the other people behind me won't be able to catch me!!!

Then to make it worse ...I imagined my fellow Spark runners behind me (picturing your profile pics on treadmills)and ME being the faster than ALL of you!!! LOL!!!

I know I must be some sort of crazy but you asked!!!

I have only run on the treadmill a few times. I find it a bit odd, since I have the slight fear I will fall down, and a bit boring. Since I have like, 8 months of winter where I live, I mostly run on the track at my Rec Center--which is awesome (cute guys lifting weights!!!).

Yet, my neighborhood is glorious in the 2 weeks of spring, and the 2 weeks of fall that we have. (With 3 months of blistering summer heat in between)
So I love to run outside at this time.

If I did not have my iPods I would die of boredom and lack of motivation. (I think my internal dialog runs out of things to say.......oddly enough, since I am a CHATTERBOX!!!!)

Peace--Anne

I don't run to music yet....I'm eager to download some.

I mostly listen to my body most of the time... I can hear my pace.... Am I struggling? ...How much longer can I go....I CANNOT BELIEVE I'M RUNNING!Yeah!.....You staring at the timer (when on the treadmill)...need to get my head up for correct posture.

Yesterday, when I noticed this question I was scheduled for a 40min run which I did on the treadmill. I'm sure the conversation is somewhat different when out on the road. Is there a difference?

Keep moving!

I think I am a freak while running...I think about the numbers...my pace, figure up how long the run will take me...what I am going to do after, if I am running at the right pace...my form...what I am going to make for dinner tonight...yada yada...it goes on. Lol. But the numbers stuff...BLAH! hahaha...I do like the "sing" along in my head with the songs on my ipod at times - very motivating.

Ok, I suppose I should share what I think about too...I am thinking such a wide range of things it is crazy.

I am usually going with a rhymic chant in my head of "I can do it" and I have to agree with Anne that I also think about how HOT I am going to be if I can just keep running....that mixed with the occasional(who am I kidding...these interruptions are constant!!)...Is the laundry done....What am I going to wear to work tomorrow....what are the kids doing....Did I call back my Dad....Did I pay the credit card bill....why is my ds screaming???

When I didn't have an iPod I planned out what I was going to write on my blog - my blogs use to be really clever. I guess I had a clearer head back then.

Now that I have the iPod I sing the song in my head (or out loud).

Wow. My mind goes in a million different directions when I am running. I break apart the lyrics to my music and relate them to getting myself through the run. "I Like it, I Love it, I want some more of it"... "I'd sure hate to break down here", etc. (I have a wide range of music from country, to rap, to hip hop, to patriotic, to christian, etc. and I don't know if I would be able to do this without music)

I am in the military, so I think about what I went through in my initial training and remind myself that I am capable of doing this. I will someday be in the shape I was 12 years ago. I think alot about our servicemembers who are in harms way or who have suffered the consequences of war and keep myself going by knowing that I am blessed to have the ability to walk and run.

I think about my children and how I want to show them they can do anything they set their mind to and I want to set a good example.

I could probably keep going, but this is most of it. Oh... I do talk to myself too!

I think about how HOT I am! hahahahhahahhhhaaaahahah

No, I really just think about, "When will this podcast be over?"

No, mostly I am singing to the music (well, not out loud) and thinking about new playlists, etc. I try to focus on the tunes to get through the tough parts as I am building up my running.

Ok, in light of several blogs on this team and others I thought I would bring up the topic of "what do you think about when your running?" What our minds put us through! One of our members had a great idea of affirmations...and I know someone that counts (to 12 and then back to zero..then she repeats this for the entire time she is running). What do you think about?
