i enter my recipes here on SP to be able to add them to my meal planner, but i also use MacGourmet which is a great program for recipes found on blogs, etc, if you have a mac. i can synchronize it with my laptop to have it sitting in the kitchen with "chef's view" so you can see everything easily while preparing.

Try searching "shared foods" to find what you want. For measurements, you'll often need to convert grams to ounces. This is a helpful site for that www.calcul.com/cooking-conversion Since I joined SP, I have manually entered a lot of ingredients and recipes. It is a lot of work in the beginning, but it has really been worth the time I spent doing it.
As for organizing recipes, that's a very weak aspect of SparkRecipes. One thing you can do is start a recipe book for SparkRecipes you like. It makes putting meals into the Nutrition Tracker much easier. Many members have entered recipes from cookbooks or websites even though that is technically copyright infringement. If you have a favorite recipe from one of those sources, try entering the title exactly as it's written in the book or on the website. I'm always surprised at how many I actually find.

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
How do you keep your recipes organized. I know there's a way to keep a "recipe box" on this site, but I haven't had a ton of success with recipe calculator. I can't always find what I'm looking for, in the measurement I'm looking for.
