I enjoy Crunchmaster crackers very much, certified gluten free. Udi's wholegrain bread and Rudi's cinnamon raisin bread are the only gf breads I buy. Mrs. Leper's corn pasta is excellent, as I just don't like rice pasta. Safeway market's Eating Right brand of gluten free corn pasta is also quite good. There is an Oreo analog by Knickinick (I think) that I don't buy anymore because I cannot stop eating them if they are in the house! Yum!

I just found Against the Grain Pizza. I had the pesto, with no nuts, yea! I'm allergic to nuts so finding a pesto without was great.

I was just introduced to Canyon Bakehouse and their line of gluten-free products. I love their caraway bread especially because it reminds me of an old-fashioned Jewish rye bread. They also have good muffins and several types of bread and burger buns. It tastes and acts like real bread and it doesn't have to be toasted (although it is delicious when it is...).

I have been gluten-free for 15 years and these are the first prepackaged products in the bread category I feel like rave about...

Looking for a good gluten free pizza crust. My husband loves pizza and I am tired of making two meals for us. A good GF crust would help.

I love Trader Joe's whole grain rice bread, especially toasted.
I use the TJ's brown rice tortillas for pizza crust, and bake them crispy.
I love Bob Mills GF pancake batter with a lot of flaxseed, banana and sprinkled with walnuts.

I've been eating mug muffins made from milled flaxseed instead of flour. They cook up fast and taste great. I add things like chopped apples, mashed banana, mashed sweet potatoes, walnuts, blueberries... Basically it's 1/4 cup of milled flaxseed, 1 tsp cinnamon, 2 pkts stevia, 1/4 tsp aluminium free baking powder, and one egg, beaten. Add whatever you like in your muffin, and put into a mug. Microwave on high 1 minute 10 seconds. Maybe more with fruit, depending on what you have in it. It starts my day off with a great start and I don't even begin to feel hungry until lunchtime, with all that fiber.

I like Van's waffles too. I also prefer Ancient Harvest anything pasta, Snyder's pretzels (Wal-Mart), Pamela's baking and bread mix, Udi's bread but prefer Canyon Bakehouse (www.canyonbakehouse.com), Bob's Red Mill pizza crust, and the Napa Valley sauce from Costco (can't remember the name but it begins with M).

Those are favorites in our house. yum yum

Ancient Harvest is great it tastes much like regular wheat pasta without all the nasty effects it causes. I found it at Fred Meyer it is fairly reasonable in price and yet it is yummy.

Rudi's gluten free bread should stay stored in the freezer but can be out and thawed and taken in your lunch or sit out of the freezer for a few days without drying out. I keep mine in the freezer mostly. My favorite pasta is Bionaturae pasta. It has the closest texture to the old pasta I ate before going gluten free. It is made in Italy but available in my nature's market near my home. Barb

Unless you eat bread everyday it's best to keep all gluten free bread in the freezer. They have no preservatives in them and they dry out or get moldy real quick.
I even keep my home baked stuff in the freezer. Just remember to slice it before you freeze it.
Noticed in some earlier posts you were talking about pastas. Has anyone tried the brand called Ancient Harvest. It's a corn based pasta so some may not be able to eat it. But it caomes the closest to tasting like the wheat based pastas. I served it at our 50th anniversary party and didn't mention it was GF and there was none left over! My daughter and her two kids are also celiacs and and another grand daughter is gluten intolerant and they all swear by it. So if you get a chance try it. I've found it at Sprouts, Natural Grocers, King Soopers and on line at Amazon.

I usually wait for them to go on sale and buy several bags along with my Schar pasta. Quite often, they are on sale together. I also LOVE Schar pasta. My husband doesn't have to eat gluten-free but he says he can hardly tell the difference between Schar and regular pasta so I don't bother cooking regular pasta for him anymore.

Usually if it is the fast cooking brown rice use the white rice selector. Most rice cookers work on moisture content (heat absorption) rather then an actual time. I have one Basmati Rice that I really like. Instead of it having a long cooking time, you soak it for an hour and then cook it like you would white rice.

Yes, you are right about the brown rice freezing. I just got a rice cooker, and need to try it. It has different buttons, so even though I can't see the done light, I can at least know which button to push. But I have a question. I bought some fast cooking brown rice from the Asian market. It's really good, but says to just cook it for 25 min. That's in between the times listed on the cooker for white and brown rice.
Anyone got suggestions? Brown Basmati rice is on sale this weekend at our local natural food and farmers' market. Yippee!

I freeze brown rice all the time. (Not noodles) Cook it in the rice cooker and then put it in baggies in 1 cup measurements. I take it out for lunch or dinner and use the pre-measured amount for a meal.

You are right about not freezing stuff made with the rice pasta. It comes out nasty. We have tried a lot of brands of the rice pasta. My favorite was one called Pastoria that was made with Potato and rice flour but now I can not find the potato one anywhere. I now by almost all my pasta from the Asian markets. Lot cheaper but only white rice. I lady once told me that the best way to cook the pasta is to bring the pot of water to a boil, add the pasta, bring back to a boil, turn off the heat and put a lid on the pot and let it sit for 20 minutes. Works perfectly every time except thicker pastas could use 25 minutes. Thank you little Asian lady who told me that.

Absolutely NEVER, NEVER freeze something with rice pasta!. It was so totally gross! If you sort of rehydrate it then it's okay. I have had the Shaar as well.

I did not like Udi's not close enough to the real thing for me. Rudi's multigrain is the one that seems like real bread to me. About the rice pasta, your right the next day it is awful. But I have not found that to be so with the Schar brand. My 4 yr old just wolfed down the leftovers last night and asked for more.

My daughter has tried a Tinkyada GF pasta which had spinach in it, and said it was outstanding. As for the DeBoles, you really need to look, as the stores often put them all together. The Jerusalem artichoke stuff is not GF.
Having tried both Udi's and Rudy's breads, I like the Rudy's better. I got it at a place called Vitamin Cottage. In some places they are just called Natural Grocer's. I haven't seen any coupons, but I got it for about $4.79. It is heavier than Udi's. It really smelled like bread!

Tellitforward - I'm going to look for the Bionature spaghetti also. I'm fine with Soy and often use soy milk because of my sinus issues.
I'm always on the search for gluten free items, always hoping for that magic product that's going to give me that right texture and flavor....
Was the kinnikinnick bread and bun mix for bread makers?

Purplerules - I would like to find the Schar brand and try it. It sounds good. Haven't heard of Sprout's so will do an online search.
DeBole's is the rice noodle I bought. It's less than $2.50 for a small package which is perfect for just me.
Is the bread you like Rudi's or Udi's? I like Udi's alot....

Mark I was kind of thinking the flavor would be a little stronger because of the corn so thank you for confirming that. I think I am going to try them even though the price is almost double. Do they hold up well when cooked?
The rice noodles are ok a little bland but was thinking they would be fine for alfredo. I have noticed that the rice noodles are good immediately after being cooked but I don't like them as left overs. There is a fine line with them on being perfect or yucky.
If you were going to make a stir fry with noodles what would you choose?

I have tried Tinkyada brand that is a rice spaghetti and it was ok but a little sticky. Then I came across Schar(product of Italy) GF brand and it is corn, rice , and pea, not soy that I can tell and the family likes it better as it looks and stands up to the pasta spaghetti. I think I got both at a grocery store called Sprout's. My favorite GF bread so far is Rudi's multigrain in the frozen section but it comes with a high price tag of $6.99 a loaf. I use it sparingly. emoticon

The corn spaghetti used to be the only one that I could get. I was happy when the stores started also carrying the rice. The problem with the corn pasta is that it has a stronger flavor so it needs to have a strong sauce such as a tomato based sauce. If you like lighter or creamed based sauces I would stick with the rice pasta.

I just tried the Bionatur`e spaghetti, and it was delicious. It's made with brown rice, potato starch and soy. I know some can't do soy, and I don't do much, but it is really good! Corn is tough for me. I've had the quinoa and corn, and they are good.
I made the Kinnikinnick Kinni-Kwik bread and bun mix. I think it may be very versatile. I adcded an egg and used the whole bag so I could freeze some and give some away. It has a very satisfying flavor. I think you could likely use yeast with it, though it doesn't say that. In fact, a few of the reviewers on Amazon say they use yeast.
I think you could also make mice applesauce cake or bread, and I'm going to use some to make a cranberry bread. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I usually use the rice spaghetti noodles but noticed they have corn spaghetti noodles too. I'm curious if anybody has tried the corn and how were they?

Where, oh where did you get Snyder's GF pretzels? I couldn't find them on Amazon, and haven't seen them here locally. When I was in the Chicago area, I asked my nephew who works at Whole Foods if they carried them, and he said no. I love pretzels, and they are my go to food when I'm really nauseated.

Kinninnick is well known in Canada. They provide gluten free pizza crusts to our Boston Pizza chains. They're a good product - I use them regularly.

I just ordered some Snyder's gluten free pretzel sticks and they are so good...by far the best gluten free pretzels I found. Even my husband loved them but I had to remind him he had a bag of his pretzels in the cabinet, which are easily replaced but mine aren't in any of the stores around us...hopefully, that will change soon.

I feel bad when I ask him not to eat my foods but once he gets started, he just keeps going. He's tall and skinny and doesn't have limits when it comes to food. He eats three times the amount of what I eat...and I'm the one who struggles with my weight!!

The woman who runs the cafe and makes the bread is gluten intolerant as are all her children. The cafe doesn't even allow you to bring in any outside gluten foods in due to possible cross contamination.

I'll check out the web site. Thanks.
Has anyone heard of Kinnikinnick GF bread mix? It is yeast free. I saw an email link on Amazon and have read reviews, but would love to find someone who's used it. One post said you can make a good, not too small loaf of bread without, but can add yeast if you want.
Also, I used the Gluten Free Pantry muffin and sscone mix and made ginger scones. I used an egg wash ( yolk only, and they crisped up beautifully!

I love Udi's. There's also a 100% gf cafe and bakery in town that makes and sells loaves of bread, etc. Awesome stuff. The best. I believe they're shipping nationwide, or fixing to. The site is www.thelittleaussiebakery.com.
I have yet to get any bread from them that didn't taste great.

I agree about the Udi's. I was underwhelmed by their cinnamon rolls though. I also don't like the fact that you get so little for so much money. I am pretty fond of the Kinnikinnick breads. I just bought the burger buns. I really like them.
Today I bought the Whole Foods sandwich bread. We'll see.

I just tried the Udi's white sandwich bread and really liked it. It has a nice light texture.

I've now tried the white, the Italian and the whole grain. I like them all, and they all toast up nice and crisp without having to put the toaster on max and push it two or three times. And as I said, I love the English muffins.
These breads are more dense than Udi's, so I feel like I'm getting more bang for my buck.

I have discovered Kinnikinnick bread. It's in the freezer and they have several types. They have a whole grain one, an Italian and a white. I've not been disappointed in any of this brand's products.

I love the Van's GF frozen waffles. Amy's makes a GF brownie mix that is heavenly. I find them at Whole Foods. I take the brownies into work so I don't eat them all my self.
