OMG... I have had the worst cold I have had in a long time the last 4 days. What a way to start my challenge, but I did walk 2 miles in 30 minutes at lunch, so I hope that was brisk enough.

Thank you to everyone for your GREAT ideas. Every little bit helps and I am all for beating my co-worker in this challenge.

It takes about 1900 calories a day to maintain your weight of 175. (Rough estimate...) So a 1200 calorie diet is 700 calories less than you need each day - resulting in 1 pound lost every 5 days - before you add exercise.... I'm not an expert or a trainer but if it were me I would use half my "earned" exercise calories for additional food - up to about 1500 calories a day. That would be a goal of exercising "600 calories" a day. That is another net 300 per day deficit and should result in another 1 pound weight loss every 11.5 days...

SO, using this formula you can reasonably expect to healthily lose ~4.5 pounds every 15 days - 3 pounds from calorie restriction and 1.5 pounds from exercise.....

But metabolism is unique and muscle weighs more than fat and time of the month effects weight and missing a BM one day can literally add 3 pounds... So while this might work out on average over time - no way to say what you will actually be able to do in the next few weeks...

Weight loss is a math equation. It takes 3500 calories to lose one pound. Eat less or exercise more to total 3500 calories to lose 1 pound. But don't eat less than 1200 calories a day. Set a goal and work the plan! Good luck!

Like I said. Please just tell me an exercise you like doing and I will fit it into my schedule. From there, I will let you all know what I am doing every day. :) Today is the 1.4 Mile walk. We usually complete that in about 25 minutes. No cardio core class tonight though. That doesn't start for two weeks and this cold is kicking my butt, so tonight I may just go home and rest.

I don't know. Maybe tell me a good exercise that works for you and I can incorporate that into my busy schedule :) I just know, I have to do everything in my power to win this challenge. If at the end, I don't win, at least I will know that I did everything I could do...besides, if I even get close to my goal, in that time, I will still be a winner. :)

OMG!!! I am crazy. I had a co-worker challenge me this week to see who could lose the most weight in the next 12 weeks. He is training to run in the local river bank run here and needed some motivation. Guess who volunteered to help him? Now I need everyone's help cheering me on to victory.

We weighed in this morning for our beginning weights.

Me = 175 Co-Worker = 204

We have until May 5th, that is 12 weeks, to do this. Please help cheer me on in anyway you can think of. I would love to hear from you all and get some great motivation coming in. :)
