Dorthy, I'd love so much to be able to do one of these walks. When I was in my early twenties, I did a March Of Dimes walk, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. It poured down rain, my hair was a stringy strangled mess, water was squishing in my sneaks, but we had a ball! And where the money was going made it worth the discomfort!
My niece is walking in the SUSAN Komen "Race for the CURE" in Alanta this coming October. We just got an email from her for a donation to support her walk. They actually have a webpage for each walker or team so you can make donations directly. As a walker you need to raise $2200.(I think) She also has made a quilt to help raise the money.
This is one of my longer goals, to be able to do the 3-day walk.
I'm not asking for donations, just wanted to mention the walk and a way to brag I guess. It's great when you women are so informed and willing to help each other.
Thanks for the information. This is near and dear to me also. So many family and friends have been or are dealing with Breast cancer. The research that has been done is incredible compared to 10 years ago.
Hi, hope you guys don't mind me posting this here. Recently one of my friend's sisters found out she had breast cancer and it really got me to thinking.
I found a great offer that could help us with our "lunching out issues" as well as automatically donates to Breast Cancer Rsearch.
What it is, is a choice between 3 adorable (and insulated) lunch bags that Lean Cuisine has for $9.95 which already has the shipping and handling included. From each sale they donate 5 of those dollars to the Kormen Foundation (not sure on that spelling) and have already donated over 34000 from these bag sales.
I don't want to sound like an ad here. But this is a real important issue for women and what more fun way to donate than to add something cute to your lifestyle change.
Anyways, thats it and I'm buying mine tonight.
Sometimes we must get hurt in order to grow- We must fall in order to know- Sometimes our vision only clears after our eyes are washed with tears. (Unknown author)
