You guys are making me jealous with all of this talk of rain. I love it when it rains! Walking in the rain is the best. One of my high school students was telling me that walking in the rain is good for your hair because it helps it grow longer. ?? Is that true? I haven't heard that before, but I cannot disagree because I simply love walking in the rain, no cares on my hair. Yay! Chelsea, you are so right - walking in the shorter pool will feel good. I was thinking of that last night. Can't wait. :) Oh heck, all of this talk of walking has gotten me in the mood, so off I go!

RAFFERM, you too!! I love the rain and storms, generally. Are you glad it is Spring there now? Here in Florida, my favorite season is Winter because it is cool.

Hi everyone!
RAFFERM, I did my emotional eating today and I hadn't for a long while so I am trying to give myself a little break. I wish you the best day tomorrow.
Dawn, where I live now (new to me also) there is a cute pool but the deepest is also 5 feet but that's great for walking without over-heating. Enjoy!
I was gone for 4 days out of town and it was both, fun and exhausting. I am glad to be home with my cats and my own bed. My spins were both 5 today and it was a very busy day. We have been getting tons of rain the last 2 days with some heavy duty thunderstorms. I love storms but my cat, Lucy, is too scared of them. In Florida, summer has been here since mid April with hot temps and thunderstorms. Today was cooler due to them and I am grateful.
I hope everyone has a GREAT day tomorrow.

Went for a walk through just part of my new apartment complex. I'm loving it - beautiful and open. I feel very safe here so that's good. I had the chance to check out the pool here, and was a bit sad to see that the deep end is only 5 feet down. So I guess no diving, right? And heck, since I'm 5'10", I can simply do some great walking/jogging around the entire pool. Not really a lap pool, but I'll still enjoy what I've got. How's everyone doing? It's been a bit quiet lately, so I can only hope that is due to everyone doing Great and feeling Good. :)
Oh, and my spin was 5 with a huge bonus spin of 5.

Sounds like you've been doing an exceptional job taking care of yourself by working out in the pool. Good for you! The weather has been kicking me in the butt when it comes to my eating as well. Perhaps we can nod our heads toward that and simply keep on keeping on.

Congratulations on moving! AND isn't it interesting that you and I set up our computers right away? I am still unpacking and I moved a month ago. I know it takes time especially with MS fatigue. I hope you enjoy your new home and can make new friends.

Well, I've moved! And I'm pooped. Lots of unpacking to do, lots of artwork to unpack and display, lots of stuff on my "to-do" list.
Not very excited about this today, but I'm sure that'll pass.
Saying goodbye to my old house wasn't difficult. Saying goodbye to all of the other aspects of is kicking me in the bum. ;) But I will survive! Heck, I've got to. We've made it this far, we can simply continue on. I'll probably sing that great song that goes "I... I will survive!" to myself while dancing around my new apartment.

Hi Dawn!! I know your move is this weekend and I wish the best of luck. I know it is a lot of work even when you get help. Take time for yourself to relax and rest too.
Thanks for your kind words. I know I need to find those "lost" library materials so I really need to do it. I hope to do so tomorrow and some today.

I live in Florida and we have Two Men and a Truck here too. I used Neighbor's Moving Company and they were okay. I paid a little bit more than I had thought but they gave me a discount. I love my place but it is a LOT of work. I wish you the best and hope that it is not too hot outside since that will drain your energy.

I believe the main help I will get with my move with come from Two Men & a Truck. Looking forward to getting moved and settled. Off we go! This is Teacher Appreciation Week around the country, so try & thank a teacher who has helped you. I've gotten mainly treats given to me, and I pass them along as I don't eat candy anymore. I think it is Perfect that this is teacher appreciation time, because Gosh, I Need To Feel Appreciated. Heck, we all do. Working with entitled teenagers can try to break my heart, but it is Not going to happen. No way.

Greetings everyone! I'm moving on Saturday, and my goals for now is to be patient and be ready. Just got back from a wonderful walk outside - the weather was warm but not too warm so I had a great time. It seems to always help me to feel more calm, centered and prepared for life.
My login spin was a 5, and my bonus spin was a 20. Woot woo!

Hi everyone! My goals today are to finish Sparking, have a good lunch, do some laundry while I unpack most of the stuff that's left from my move. Since I am not going out today, I will have the energy to unpack. I have learned that the days I go out to do errands, take the bus, etc., the heat is a killer and I get extreme exhaustion and neuropathic pain, and all I can do when I get home is eat and feed the cats. Today I have a chance to get some stuff done.

Thanks Dolly.
Today I taught a beginner's computer class to people over 70 who didn't even know how to use a computer mouse or the keyboard. I have never taught a computer class before but where I live, the management asked me to try it out. I was scared to try it out but glad I did since they seemed happy to try (4 students). New week I will teach people who know some about computers but want to open an email account and surf the net. Wish me luck!

My spins were 5 and 7 today.
My plans today are extensive and it worries me some since, when I do too much, I get neuropathic pain which is pretty miserable. The heat in Florida is summer-like which doesn't help any. I will be having a brain and spine MRI, and I also see my other doctor and I take buses everywhere. So, wish me luck if you read this and I wish you all a wonderful day.

Today I am going to do some more unpacking and maybe some shopping for necessities. I can see the end of the tunnel when it comes to finishing this unpacking after my move, I am also going to plan for the week, re-do some more of my goals here in SP, and update my book list in LibraryThing.com.
Have a great day everyone! And if you read this, thanks.

Good morning RAFFERM and Dawn!
RAFFERM, I live in SE Florida, Broward county north of Miami-Dade county. As you know, it is heating up in Florida thus my time spent outdoors is going to be a lot less. We are already getting the afternoon thunderstorms that we usually get in the summer, and it is suppose to be a higher-than-normal hurricane season. So, it is time for me to start stocking up on food and water. I hope you are doing better with your walking. I go through that every so often.
My spin points were 5 and 7, and today I hope to do more unpacking from my move and prepare for the upcoming week. The best to you all fellow Sparkers!

Good morning! It is a beautiful Sunday morning here in central Florida! I had a great walk with the dog just at sunrise and the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful--just the way to start the day! I have been having a tough time with dizziness. Last week I stumbled and fell while I was walking the dog, so I am learning tricks like walking close to the grass.

My spins today were 10 and 5, and I went for a walk this morning and it was just beautiful! It is not horribly hot here in Florida yet so the morning walks are just great. I am enjoying watching General Conference from my church online which occurs twice a year; very inspirational. Today I also hope to do some more unpacking from my move a week ago. A lot of work, needless to say. Have a great day everybody!

My spins were 3 (I think) and 25 (for sure!). My day is going well so far. I went shopping this morning and got some needed kitchen things, and had lunch at Subway. Then I listened to General Conference from my church online (very inspirational) and did some more unpacking in the bedroom. I am on a roll!!

Hi Becky! First of all, I am so happy to meet you here. And I am going to come here, to this thread daily, so we can just meet and briefly share about whatever we want. I used to do it daily and have stopped but I will be back. We all understand the progression of the disease and can support each other.
My spin was either 2 or 3 but that's okay since I do get great numbers once in a while. My plans today are to do a lot of unpacking from my move last weekend and maybe some shopping too. I need to time to rest so I don't get exhausted. It is now 7:45 AM and it still feels like 6:45 AM. It takes a while for me to get used to the time change. I wish you all a wonderful day!

Hello all. Sorry I've been MIA for quite awhile. Focused on $$$ issues, then dh came home for a week (he's a long-haul truck driver, and he's gone 3-4 weeks at a time), then we had Easter, etc. My MS has been pretty stationary/predictable/even but I see myself getting worse just a bit at a time. So, please keep me and my MS in your prayers, if possible.

Melly It is so hard to find employment nowadays and I am very happy for you. It also sounds like you are going to be very busy with school and working so I hope you stop by every so often and bring us up to date. The best to you.
Dawn, moving is very difficult on cats. Mine did a lot better than I ever expected and feel lucky that way. Where I live now is peaceful and they like it (except when the fire alarm went off 2 nights ago because of a smoker smoking in the hallway at 12:30 AM!). I wish you the best of luck with your move. Are you moving out of state? Out of your town? Far? Mine was only 25 minutes away so I feel lucky.

Congratulations on your new job! I'm very happy for you.
I will be moving into my new place mid-May and I cannot wait! My cat is currently in her Time Out room (downstairs bathroom) to help her out. She's been stressed from all of this packing and moving around of stuff that she'll pee in places it is Not Okay. Took her into the vet, and her health was confirmed (no infections) and it was suggested she stay there for a couple of week. And hey, we all need to take "Time Out"s at times!

I hope your guy's moves went great, Dawn and Chelsea!! I love that you are cat people too. I have 2 kitties that will be 3 in June and love them to pieces.
I haven't huddled for awhile, but have a quick minute to update. I got a new job, it's temp to hire and they want me to stay. I am extremely grateful that this opportunity landed in my lap. It will be a good thing for me!
I'll start full time school on April 29th and am diligently working on finishing this semesters courses.
Hope you guys have a fantastic week!

Hi Dawn! As I continue to pack, etc., my Kitties are definitely suspicious and don't like what's going on either. I will be dropping them off Friday night and leaving them in the new place so I can finish everything without them being here. The movers are coming on Saturday. I wish you the best of luck packing and moving to your new place.
I tried Tysabri 2 years ago. The first treatment went great but I had a bad reaction during the second treatment so I can't take that anymore. They always watch while giving you the medicine so you will be okay even if you have a reaction. I am glad it worked so well today and

So I had my first injection of Tysabri this morning. It took around 45 minutes for the medicine to go in, and then I was advised to wait around for another hour to ensure that everything went okay. I listen to all of the "this may happen" cautionary speeches, and I did not ignore these words of warning at all, though I know that my body so rarely acts in poor ways as a result of a medication. I can tell you that the injection went fine and I had no poor side effects afterwards. I've been told that this medicine is even stronger than the Copaxone I've been on and I am looking forwards to my future MRIs to see the results. I got home and after eating some lunch, went back to packing up my house and getting ready for the move. I feel lots of energy. YAY! I love the fact that I'll be moving in to my new apartment soonish, so that I can take a carload or 2 over to the new place in a month or so. My kitty is a bit suspicious of me, but she will quickly snuggle and purr when asked to. I think this new place will be good for me. I truly hope so!

I discovered 55 plus communities through a friend when I moved to Florida. At first I felt out of place (at the age of 39) but everyone was so welcoming and kind to me. I discovered that they offer services that regular apartments don't usually offer - exercise classes; activities around town; transportation shopping, etc. Of course, each community is different. Where I am going, there is no transportation to go shopping but the stores are just 2 blocks away so it is okay. They do offer a movie a week and I plan to start either a book club or a small choir.
With MS, it was a terrific discovery since it helps SO much especially someone like me who lives alone and doesn't have a car.

Well, I finally settled on a place today! Love it. I'll have an attached garage with space for my potter's wheel, pool with the apartment complex and a safe neighborhood. YAY! Pictures will come soonish. Here's a link to their site: http://jeffersonpointe.com/
(oops, I forgot to add that I got a 3 & 7 with my spins today.)

Yeah I agree with renting theme that chlsea mentions---( sorry if lot of questions curious ya know) Renting a place is good whether it is short term ( few weeks for a vacation) or longer a year?? (not sure on the details)
new at this info in types rentals places to find for people with disabities---as for your case Chelsea-- 55 and older?? What is it? Houses or apts?? Didn't know you can get in despite you're were 39?!?! That's news to me....
I like the renting because you can decide to try out different parts of the country and different seasons to try as well and less fixing to deal with . Any disadvantages to rentng if there such a thing??? Or going to a 55 plus community pro cons?? You can answer this next week in a letter if you wish ( i know your busy with the move) and by the way girlfriend.. Whaddyda mean kinda spoiled at age 50 hmmm????
Dawnah, good luck selling your place and finding the place you want... can't wait for the pictures too !!

You know, Dawn? That's a GREAT idea! (Renting, I mean). I LOVE the freedom to come and go as I want. if I don't like a place, I can always move and if anything breaks down, they fix it! And with MS, I love the older communities because they always have extra services. At first when I moved to a 55 plus at the age of 39, I felt SO weird, but they all adopted me as their daughter or granddaughter so it was great. Now I am 50 and I am used to being spoiled.

I'm looking for a regular 1 bedroom place, no family. I may have fount it today! There's a great place with an indoor pool that is open year-round plus two more outdoor pools open in the summer. I think I'll get a townhouse there. Let's hope it goes through cleanly!

Well, I am not sure you need to say anything about your MS to your new landlord-to-be unless the place is age defined and it will help you. For me to move to a 55 plus when I was 39, I told them because it helped me get in since it was a place for 55 plus or/and disabled people. But if the place doesn't have such qualifications, I wouldn't bother telling them anything unless you want to.
Are you looking for such a place or a regular apartment with families, etc.?

Thanks Dawn! Thanks for visiting the thread to keep it going.
What state do you live in? If I know that, I can help you look and tell you where to look for apartments. I have lived in different states and some websites are better than others depending on what state you live in. Also, if you are looking for 55 plus places (I don't know your age), they accommodate disabled people 50 and over, like where I am going. I live in Florida and it is easy to find places with swimming pools but when I lived in Connecticut, for example, not so easy. AND thanks for your good wishes. It is this Saturday and my anxiety is really climbing now.

I am so excited for your new move! My spin today was a glorious 2 and a 5.
Any ideas from you guys as to things I should look for when searching for a new place? So far, I have limited my searches to places with an indoor pool open year round. I think that'll be good for my health.
So everyone can help work on keeping this thread from going inactive.

Dawn! I hope Tysabri works for you and enjoy your new water bottle.
I got a 2 and a 5 today. I spoke very briefly to a group today about being a survivor of abuse and I am glad I was able to touch some people. As far as MS meds, BG-12 is coming out in the next couple of months and that is what I want to try, and my doctor agrees. In the past I have tried Avonex, Tysabri, Betaseron, Copaxone and Gilenya (I tested this in the clinical trials). I am ready for something new and feel hopeful.

Good afternoon everyone! I just opened up a new delivery I got from a MS group associated with Tysabri, and wanted to share what I found inside: a new water bottle. But wait, it gets better! ;) Printed on the side of the water bottle is a great statement: "I have MS, but MS doesn't have me." This so got me geared up and positive all over the place. On the other side of the bottle "MSinspiration.com" is printed. I just love the idea that having MS doesn't make you a victim. Yay, us! Vroom vroom, off we go.
(got a 3 in my first roll and then a 7 on the "bonus" roll this morning) Have a great night everyone!

Gosh, I love it when people are doing well. What a day! I've had 3 MRIs done today, and another blood test to double check if I am safe to start Tysabri. Did some walking for all these trips and tests, and shoveled a bit more of the snow when I got back. Lots of work, but so worth it! I always trend to feel like this after a workout. So let's keep going, guys!

I hope you receive plenty of support and care and love from those in your life who love you and appreciate you. Dolly, I didn't know you got back pain too. I hope you are feeling well enough to enjoy tonight. I can't remember my spins but I did okay. My day was long and I am very tired but things went well with my new landlord. I believe I spun a 7 and then 10 more for the bonus. Lots and lots of snow going on in the midwest and I Am Loving It! Born and raised in Iowa, so snow has become part of who I am. Thankfully I can get out there and do some shoveling. Whoah, big workout for me. :) I was so proud of myself for doing this workout, that I immediately went over to a flatter piece of snow and flopped down to make a Snow Angel! Yay!!
I am envious of the spiritual workshop you are going to, KATWELL88. Since being told I have MS months ago and soon was told by the husband that "this was not the kind of marriage he was looking for" so we're getting a divorce. Hi Dolly! Hi everyone!
My spins were 3 and 5. Yes, it has been a miserable year but I am starting to see the light. I mean, not every moment was miserable but it has been a very difficult year. In 5 weeks I move and I am looking forward to a more peaceful life. Good luck with your painting, Dolly, and your organizing projects.
Today I was gone for about 7 hours and got a migraine and the neuropathic MS pain. With MS, days are unpredictable as many of you know. Tomorrow is another busy day but usually, once I sleep, I do feel better. I hope to be able to get a PT working with voc. rehab. whom I see tomorrow.
Have a nice evening everyone!

Hi Dolly! Hi everyone!
The MS support group went well and I am glad. It was a little bit disorganized but some people were very nice. I even got a ride home! I don't know if I will go next month since it will be just 2 weeks before my move. It all depends on how busy I am.
I read a couple of Susan Wiggs Albert's books--the Darling Dahlia's series set in the great depression in the South. I really liked them. I read books 1-3 in the series and I am waiting for her to write book 4. It is a new series. I think you and your mom will really like the group at the library.
I am slowly, ever so slowly, going through my boxes, repacking, getting rid of things, etc. When you come in the spring, I will be living in Margate which is northwest of Fort Lauderdale, almost in Palm Beach county.
See you later!

I can't remember my spin but I thought I would write here since no one else has for 3 days.
I have been able to sleep better for 2 nights in a row (miracle!) because of a new antidepressant that I started and I feel hopeful. I love mornings and now, two mornings in a row, I have been able to get up early and hear the birds singing and see the sun come up! Today I am going to a new MS support group in Coral Springs (FL) and I am so excited. I hope to make new friends. I moved to this area last April and it has been lonely.
I hope you all have a wonderful day! Love, Chelsea
