For anyone who's feeling like Leanie64, this is how I re-found my motivation; maybe it will help you to find yours again. First I thought about what has worked in the past and how I've moved away from that point. I also thought about what might work, or work better than what I've tried in the past.
More exercise? Yeah, right I really felt like doing that! More water....uh huh; like I'm not totally bored with that! Journaling my food.....Boring!
Well, as I went through my mental lists I felt a little silly. The final question was clearly in front of me............Are you quitting, giving up, willing to be overweight and unhealthy the rest of your life?
The answer was a resounding NO! NO, NO, NO, to giving up, to quitting, to going back to being a devoted couch potato. Then I remembered the following message that a fellow TOPS member handed out at a meeting and I've added it below.
Never Quit Pledge
Today I promise I will not quit.
I pledge that no matter how many ups and downs I pass through, I will continue on my journey. (That’s right, it says pass THROUGH – Don’t be hanging out there!)
I pledge to make a new start today, forgive myself for my past, stop making excuses, and stop blaming other people or situations. (Good idea!! Can we all try this?)
I pledge to treat myself as I would my best friend, because that is who I am. (Really ?? Yes, it is okay to be your BFF!)
I pledge to stay in the race and to be a winner.
I'm in a plateau right now but looking forward to breaking out of it.
Good Luck, and remember that "We're here for you!"
