As the new leader of our local small TOPS group, tonight will be my third meeting as leader. We will be talking about portion control. I'm bringing all sorts of visuals to help in the discussion. Different sized cups, and a pitcher that I can fill with water to test the different cups and glasses to see how much they hold. Also, I bought a new food scale that I'm really excited about, and plan on taking that to the meeting too. I've got a deck of cards to show the size of a portion of meat, dice for an ounce of cheese. A 2 Tbsp medicine dropper that is great to show the amount for salad dressing (about the size of your thumb), and of course measuring cups and spoons. I just thought of plates too. I use a small plate at dinner, so I can show the difference between the regular dinner plate. I just plan to play around with some of the things and talk about how the difference in just an ounce or two here and there, can mean several hundred calories over the day or week. I'm excited about tonights meeting!
