Happy St. Patty's Day everyone!

emoticon

How did everyone finish out the challenge? I didn't exercise Friday or Saturday, Sunday I went to the Arizona Renaissance Fair and wandered around (and ate bad food) and did nothing again today. I hope you all finished off better than I did!

I agree with you guys! You've got to create opportunities to work out. Cleaning the house IS exercise. Especially if you have kids. Constant exercise.

For me today, I did about 15 minutes of weights. And I walked to the grocery store during my lunch break for some grapes to snack on.

You're right Shealafemme! I just never count the day to day stuff, because I figure if I'm already doing it and not losing weight, why would it count, but if I put some thought into it and make an effort to make it a workout, I may start seeing a difference!

See Jen, you just have to look at it as opportunity, not chores. Like when I go grocery shopping, I park far away so I get to walk a little extra. When I have to chase my dog who has gotten out of the house and ran down the block, I count that too.

Well than if we get to count all the little things too....
March 6: Played catch with the husband for 15 mins. (my arms were really sore for a few days after, so I know it did something.)

March 7: Grocery shopped for an hour and then cleaned out the fridge (boy was that a task.)

March 8th: Washed and Folded everyones laundry for 1 hour, cleaned my son's room for 2 hours, vacuumed the upstairs and vacuumed all the exhaust fans and ducts! (I was quite proud of my cleaning streak yesterday!)

Sorry folks for being away so long. We had big computer problems and I wasn't able to get on for a few days. I'm at work now, so I can catch up.

I haven't forgotten you!

Thursday, March 6: 30 minute walk

Friday, March 7: 40 minute walk followed by a 10 minute ab routine

Saturday, March 8: My big day! I walked an hour! That's been my goal. Can't do it everyday, but I like to do it when I can.

Sunday, March 9: 40 minute walk.

Now I've got to type that in my fitness log.

A transportation snafu cut into my normal cardio today, but I managed 10 minutes of a step workout and a 20 minute walk during my lunch break.

I'm a King fan, Shealafemme. I haven't read the Dark Tower series, but I just finished the audiobook of Duma Key. I loved it. I sail thru my walks listening to books on tape.

Way to go everyone! Great job! Keep it up!

Jen, you know what I love to do while I am on my stepper...READ! I just finished Black House by Stephen King and Peter Straub. I am a HUGE Stephen King fan. I would spend 20 minutes on my stepper not even realizing it has been 20 minutes, because I was reading! I just started another Stephen King book...#6 in the Dark Tower series.

Any other Stephen King fans out there?

Both of my dogs are males so they have to pee on EVERYTHING!!! Duke is older, so he is a lot slower, and Cuddles is very young, so he runs around a little crazy! Go figure!

My dogs walk better when only one person is holding the leashes. Because Duke has to stop and pee on everything, he slows down Poe!

My dogs do the same thing, but now since I have to it's twice as hard! The younger one pulls more, but the older one is getting better (mostly because he is walking slower). And they do this annoying thing where they have to walk circles around each other. So the leashes get all tangled up. Silly dogs!

I am so not laughing....I too have the bean and love it. I swear it works, I can really feel when I use it!

Sunday Jan 24, nothing

Mon Jan 25, took the dog for 15 min walk outside and couldn't figure out why when I woke this morning that my right shoulder blade is hurting so much. My dumb dog doesn't walk next to me, He mostly gets choked the whole time from me holding him back.

Saturday: (don't laugh) I have 'the bean' and did 7 min abs and 10 minute lower body workout. Then because we were bored, took a 30 min walk before dinner.

Sunday: Rode the ex. bike for 30 minutes, and only because of this challenge!

Monday: took a 35 minute walk already because the weather is supposed to turn ugly this afternoon.

Here is a good article that I felt was appropriate:

Use Shorter Workouts to Build Consistency

- By Nicole Nichols, Fitness Instructor & Health Educator

Most experts recommend that you exercise up to 90 minutes most days of the week, emphasizing that you gradually work your way up to that duration. However, a recent study conducted at Boston Sports Clubs found that participants who exercised for 20-30 minutes did so more consistently than those involved in 45-60 minute workout sessions. This study shows that youíre more likely to stick to a shorter duration workout than a longer one.

Action Sparked
If youíre having trouble staying consistent with exercise (and most of you tell us you are ), try a shorter workout session. Tell yourself that youíll exercise for 10 or 15 minutes, and follow through with it. Of course 10 minutes of exercise is better than totally skipping a workout. But, once youíve hit that small goal (whether itís 5, 10, or 20 minutes), ask yourself if you could keep going. You may find that planning on a short workout is enough to get you to the gym, and once youíre there, you can do a lot more than you thought.

Good question about the time....lets just say a min. of 15 minutes a day. Does that sound like a good time?

Well lets see so Wednesday and Thursday I didn't actually exercise persay, but Wednesday I cleaned house and folded clothes (Which when I woke up Thursday with sore thighs and calfs, kinds surprised me.) and Yesterday I lugged two kids in and out of three stores to grocery shop for almost 4 hours. I swear that has to be exercise. Today will be my first day of an actual, set workout.

Good Luck everyone.....only 25 left for his challenge!

Count me in. Just coming back from the flu. I need this since the only exercise I've had the past four days has been running to the bathroom!

Is there a minimum amount of time we have to spend?

Awesome challenge! I'm totally up for it.

One form of exercise every day. Be it cardio or strength!

Can we start a new challenge of making sure to do one exercise daily?? I always use the weather as an excuse, when I could be doing things inside to keep moving, and I think having a challenge daily will keep me going. Anyone else in??? The end date, although hopefully it'll finally turn into a habit for me and there will be no end date, will be St. Patricks day.
