I have no clue about my weight... I don't think I have looked at it since Sat. I have been busy talking to hubby about our budget, our son's birthday ( he'll be 8 tomorrow), and my upcoming appt. i am trying to find ways to cut grocery costs, the things I find to cut I think would increase our energy bill.... So I am not sure it is a savings? ( like making our own breads), but then again they would definitely put us more on the feingold diet.... So I am really torn...

I don't know where I will be next wed. So if you don't hear from me know I will check in asap. And remember anyone can start the monthly thread.

Paliz - same here. I was up in weight today only. The rest of the week was good.

Mary - thanks for the link. My grandblessing is in the middle of this process. He is already getting therapy, and just started a preschool. His final full testing is next Monday or Tuesday, I forget which one. But we don't expect anything too surprising. He is not yet 4. He will be getting speech therapy as well, but is on the waiting list and that will be a couple more months yet.

On the feingold board they have a few discussions going about autism. One in which they talk about enzymes and have this link going enzymestuff.com/

I had a friend whose child was diagnosed with apraxia. He has gone through almost a year of speech/occupational therapy to help him make headway in the verbal communications. He used some ASL to communicate at first, but has now made significant progress (attempts to use sentences) so, if he is not receiving these services already she needs to ask for them for him.

Regardless a good diet will help him overcome many things if he is reacting and I hope she has success with her health team in achieving the best care for him.

Actually, the problems my DD is having with her son are due to Autism - and most of it is not behavior but not talking as a child of his age. Her kids are 4, 2 and newborn. The 4 year old is in the process of being diagnosed. But the diet from Feingold addressed some of the same effects for ADHD or ADD.

Feingold is a diet I have looked at several times over the years. I don't know when exactly I heard the name, but I remember hearing that there was a diet out there for children that were adhd and other learning disorders years ago. I want to say I heard the name from Kirk Martin, who advocates giving children tools for being successful adults with learning differences with the "alphabet soup of labels", if your daughter needs some great parenting advice on other matters than diet, he is a great one to listen to. www.calmchristianparenting.com/ or celebratecalm.com/ I think the second has a blog by the son raised with Kirk's techniques.

Mary - I just spent a few minutes looking at the Feingold website. I will be forwarding that info on to my DD. Her son has many problems, and her other two kids have many allergies. I am convinced that many, many problems are caused by food allergies and the like.
How did you run across this?

Sorry, I have been a bit distracted. 2 extra dogs, a old and calls back and forth to the dr office about my upcoming apot. New weight back down to 204.6 i can't seem to stop teetering back and forthbetween 200-210. I know, it is probably bad iet hoices and i should be tracking. Maybe I will start tracking after we start in on the feingold diet when I am supposed to keep a dedicated food diary for 6-8 weeks to see if that helps my children with the behaviors I want to see improved.....

Today is my weight in day and it was a very small loss. So instead I will celebrate what I accomplished which was consistent exercise, lots of water, and well I guess those are it. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Paliz - Occassionally I do have a much less busy week. But this week, all the Bible studies ended up being the same week. I do one the 2nd Tuesday of the month, and we have the deaf Bible study the 3rd Friday of the month, and this month, those end up being the same week. Then our normal midweek Bible study. And the 4th one is a women's mentoring that I do that has to do with organization.
Things will be busy until I take my DD to the States in March. Kids are doubling up on school, which means really long days. Then lots of farewell things planned too.

I haven't heard from the dr office. I put a call in Friday and I put a call in this morning. At this point in time I ano longer being as patient as I once was. They stressed me out about the condition I am in and then left me alone. The least they could have done was given a brief call to say no progess had been made getting my images read.

Food wise my diet is not doing well. Exercise still sends my head to throbbing thanks to the issues that I am trying to get resolved. Regardless my weight is holding steady around 206.

I'm here. Been busy, like everyone else.
This week will be no different. We have company 2 days, 4 Bible studies, 2 of which I lead. I had good intentions of getting up early to go for a walk...However, I did get a walk in after lunch. I did 3 miles. It began to snow while I was out and is coming down pretty steady now.
Food hasn't been the best. Not happy with myself that way. I am trying to get things back under control though.

Wow Mary, that would definitely throw my routine off. I hope you soon have some answers.

My weigh in was today and I fully believe my 1.2 gain is purely cycle related. I have exercised everyday and been getting in at least 8 cups of water. I'm okay with it really. After all today I did c25k week 6 workout 3 which is a huge accomplishment for me.

I do wonder though when I'll know that losing more weight just isn't feasible- when I enter that maintain stage. I feel like I've been working hard since the new year and I'm just not losing anymore. Sorry, just rambling.

I had convinced myself I was ready to agree to one nuerosurgery, but I may require 2, by drs with different nuerosurgery specialties. The dr told me he needed more time with my images and will get back to me with a phone consult. So I have been jumping at every phone call. Unfortunately, every call I get is from someone concerned over IF the dr has called yet. I don't think my phone has been this popular since the last time I was pregnant.

In the meantime the dr wasn't exactly positive about my current condition. He used the word "time bomb" to describe my brain's condition. So determining what to do is of the essence, but I wait for things to happen in God's time.

Some nights I don't even serve dinner until 7. Snacking is really a random function for me. I do believe it is something I do in response to how I feel. Yes I know I should not eat my feelings, but I can readily admit my mistakes.

I have been having problems focusing since returning from my dr appt. not just on my eating, but with everything I should be accomplishing in general. Today I awoke with the "it's just wednesday" type dread. And I don't feel it is necessarily warranted.

Running- how's the no snacking after 8 going?

Mary- did you decide to try to not snack after 8?

As for me, exercise is going well. I exercised my upper body for the first time in like 2 months and 10 minutes later I'm feeling it. So far I'm on track with the c25k program and I'm thinking physically I can do it, it's really a matter of mentally getting past the wall. Yesterday I actually got in all 8 cups of water which made me very happy. I'm hoping to do it again today. On the downside of this, I'm craving chocolate and salt which is not going to help my weight at all.

Today after I was done on the treadmill I did some yoga on the Body by Bethanny DVD (sparkpeople has a clip of one of her other dvd's in the video section). It was challenging and yet so nice. Right now I'm borrowing it from the library. Not sure if I'll buy it but definately nice to borrow it.

I used to try not to eat after 8 but sometimes when I get home from work at 9:20 I'm just hungry and thus I will eat. They say it is really good to stop eating like 2-3 hours before going to bed though.

This past weekend I had a challenge on another team and challenged myself to not eat after 8pm. I have found that to be a huge help! I think I will continue this!
