Hi ladies. I missed my check-in yesterday, but that's ok since I have no fabulous news to report :-) I've had a bad cold and have been pretty tired, so the only exercise I got in this week was some slow walking on the treadmill a couple of days. Early in the week I wasn't eating much (just no apetite), but by the end of the week I was indulging in lots of Christmas yummies. So I had a gain of 1.2 pounds this week.

Runningoma, sorry to hear that your family is sick! Are you feeling better now? That's really tough when everyone is miserable at once. I'm surprised that you've been having so much trouble getting your exercise in. Truthfully, when I think of you, I can't picture someone who is overweight. Instead I picture some ripped woman! You're so comitted to your nutrition and exercise goals that it's just impossible for me to do. I'm sure once you're feeling 100% better that you'll get the motivation you need to get back on track with your exercise.

Rachel, I'm sorry I didn't reply to your question about maintaining vs. losing. I wasn't feeling well at all then. The plan you came up with sounds great. I especially like the idea of working to allow yourself a little bit of indulgence for your pot luck dinners on Sundays.

Paliz, congrats on seeing 130s again! Have you been strong about keeping those tempting foods in moderation?

Mary, sorry to hear you're back up. It sounds like you have a good plan on getting rid of those pesky pounds. Sorry to hear your floors took longer than you had planned, but I'm glad they were done before Christmas. How do they look?

Hope you all had a good Christmas. Mine was wonderful. This Advent season was one of the most peaceful and prayerful I've had in years, and I think it helped Christmas to seem even more wonderful.

Mary - I find that if I drink a protein shake in the morning (I aim to get 30 grams in for breakfast) that I am fuller and actually experienced a weight loss, rather than a gain. Mine is made with something similar to greek yogurt, milk and protein powder and stevia.

Congratulations to all who are continuing to work their way thru the holidays. I have not been doing well it seems and have allowed myself to slip back up to 207.2 i find this a little amazing with no christmas cookies in the house, and only a birthday cupcake. But maybe i let my portions go out of control and jut didn't realize what I was doing. Regardless it is my gain to own and now i have o loe those pounds again as we enter 2013. The flooring contractors who were only supposed to be here a week, finally left my house on Dec 20. I believe that was 3 full weeks after they started working at my house.

Over all i think my goal for 2013 is less processed foods (again) now that i am back to functioning fairly well i want to eliminate the processed foods I had used for short cuts in my pantry. Homemade salsa in place of store bought jars, and the like. There are some things I won't be able to replace, but hopefully i will just limit them ;-) i also want to start eating breakfast again or at least drinking a smoothie. Somehow i know this will cause gain at first, but eventually i will start he wagon down the hill again.

Mary,
mom to 4 beautiful children that deserve a healthy and active mother

Good job, Paliz.

Now my DH is sick....
I am in the process of working on my goals for 2013.
Today I am trying to start the process of eliminating the sugar out of my diet.

Yes, I hope everyone had a great Christmas. It is the 2nd day of Christmas here, so still a holiday. I have two sick kids - fevers, etc. Glad they weren't sick on Christmas Eve, but yesterday my DS had a high fever as well as today (103.2) and my DD started with it today, maybe not as bad, so far.
DH and I got a nice walk in both yesterday and today. It is about 50 out, and today there were tons of people out walking, which is very typical when the weather allows, especially on holidays.
Off to make some dinner for my DH and I. The kids have no appetite.

Today's weigh-in showed a small loss, so I'm happy. I didn't do well with tracking my food or getting in exercise this week due to a bad cold. I'm just exhausted! We're off to my brother-in-law's house today to celebrate Christmas with my husband's family. Hoping to sleep in the car.

Oh, I meant to say that my tracker (on my screen) is reading 134.7 but it's in kg and I never could figure out how to change that. Does anyone know how to make it read pounds?

Thanks for the feedback PALIZ81 and RUNNINGOMA! It really confirms what I had been feeling. I think that I just got frustrated with the plateau that I hit. I've lost my pregnancy weight and reached the weight that my body just loves to sit at. It's going to take a lot of effort to drop below it.

I decided to work on dropping a 1/2 pound per week instead of 1 and I made myself an exercise plan: core everyday (stomach crunches, twists etc.), 10 min intense cardio per day (at least) and strength training 3 days per week. I've planned for Sunday's by allowing myself to eat more on that day and compensating by making sure there is a greater calorie deficit on other days. I think that this will help because I won't feel defeated every Sunday. I'll be allowed to indulge a little. :)

Sorry you've been sick RunningOma. On the exercise note, I think that this month is hard for all of us! So much stress, change to routine, family, food. But.... praise God, we can do all things through His strength! Blessings!

I've been sick for the last few day. Fever, cough, etc.
My weight has been all over the place this month - which shows my huge incosistency. Trying to move on though.
Exercise has been severly lacking - mainly due to....excuses. (It's snowing, not safe to run, I don't like my exercise bike, it's in the basement anyway. My shoulder hurts.....) you get the picture. This is so unlike me. I have regularly exericised the last 4 years. I need to make my plan and get on with it.
I still have plenty to do before Christmas - wrap presents, make fudge, clean up the house, etc.
Time to get busy.

In CHRIST I can!

I agree with RunningOma.

So I went over the number I was trying to stay below for the month. I know all the reasons why and it's all my fault. I'm removing the soda again and then hopefully next week get back on track with exercising. I need to be able to do a 5k in March as it's a fundraiser for our coop.

In other news, I have a lot of school prep to do in the next 2 weeks, I almost have all my gifts wrap and I still have no clue what to get my mom for Christmas.

My thoughts on taking a break.
It seems to start a downward spiral. I would recomend maybe trying to lose at a slower pace, but don't get totally off track.
Why does your weight tracker say you weight 296? Maybe you need to change some settings as that is a lot different than 134.7

I weighed in today at 134.7, so down 0.4 lbs, which I'm actually happy about since I was afraid there might be a gain.

I'm wondering if I should just take a month off of trying to lose weight and focus on maintenance. Has anyone else done that? Is it hard to get started again?

Wednesday check in. As has been par for course this month Monday and tuesday have been good exercise days and well today it will be a challenge to get it in. Eating, well, let's just not talk about it.

On a side note why do I seem busier now that we are on school break than when we were having school.

Hi ladies! I know that I've been out of the loop for a few weeks. I am busier now with school than I ever have been before. I feel like there is so much that I'm not getting to. I really need to remember though that God always gives us the time that we need to accomplish what He has given us to do each day.

I've really dropped the ball in my weight loss journey over the past 3 days and I knew that I needed that accountability that this group provides right now. Sundays always throw me for a loop if I don't plan on how I'm going to deal with the temptations. We have a big potluck at our house every Sunday. So much food and I very much tend to overeat when visiting. So... I ate too much. Then I made it worse yesterday at our ladies meeting, and today I've found that my resolve has crumbled and i feel afraid that 3 days of overeating will turn into a week... and so on.

Other than my struggles with overeating while visiting, the past few weeks have been pretty good. I've been exercising lots and feel stronger. Tomorrow is my weigh in so I'll try to check in then. May God bless you all as you prepare for Chrstmas!

I seem to have constant company - yes, last weekend we had company until Monday afternoon. Then lots of catch up.
We got our tree Saturday and the kids decorated it really nice. We had company again on Sunday. Today we were up early and went to do our cleaning job before breakfast. We walked home, which is about a mile. I have not been doing real good on exercise lately, but made some progress last week. The scale doesn't look too good, but that is changing and I am back to logging my food and getting things back under control.

In CHRIST I can!

I did well until Wednesday this week. All 3 of my kids got sick, so my regular scedule was thrown off, and I just quit logging my food. The only exercise I got after that was bringing wood into the house. Oh well. According to he scale, I'm own a pound, so I must not have consistently overaten.

Mary, congrats on the slow but sure loss so far this month! This time of year is tough to do that. I'm glad the work on your house is coming along so quickly. I hope it will be finished before your relatives arrive. You must be so happy to hae your kiddos back!!!

Paliz, how was the rest of your week?

Runningoma, I think you had company visiting this week, is that right? Hope you're enjoying your visit!

Have a wonderful week, ladies!

Week end weigh in 204.6..... Up from the start of the month of 203, but not the high of 206. I have all of my kids home. Next weekend we will have lee's grandmother in town in addition to his aunt and uncle, so hopefully we can get my house finished.

I'm doing pretty well this week with my exercise. While I am tracking all of my food, I'm seeing some pretty big numbers. Yesterday was a day where I needed chocolate, or somebody was gonna die! The scale tells me that I'm maintaining my weight so far this week, so I won't worry too much.

Hope you ladies are all having a peaceful week. I'm off for some fun with my kiddos and some of their friends today.

I was down roughly a pound this week, but I donated blood, so I think that's all it was- no actual loss. I did ok but not great with my tracking and exercise this week. Hoping to do better this week.

Liz, I'm sorry to hear about your frustration. Maybe this is a good time to go back to what your goals were when you first started SP? Does your plan need to change for you to be able to reach your goals? Are your goals still realistic for you, or should they be tweaked? I agree that Mary's pep talk was wonderful- that's one we all need to hear from time to time.

Mary, I'm glad to hear your flooring is getting started so quickly. I hope the facebook situation is resolved in a godly and peaceful way. Praying for you!

Liz, you can overcome this. There is nothing on this Earth greater than the will God can instill upon you. Now is the time to read the story of Job, and say "thank you Lord" and not give up working for Him ;-) setbacks no matter how discouraging will be overcome with faithfulness. Grab a cup of water, turn on some rocking usic, have a private dance party while you clean up a room and you will be on your way to recovering soon! ( ok so that's my pep talk, but you got it too!)

Well good food and less exercise saw a jump on the scale this week. I didn't think it was going to jump as much as it did. And to top it off, it's one of those times when the jump on the scale is not motivating me to get back on track but rather just chuck it all out the window. I know I can't but it's a hurdle I need to get over right now.

Mid week check in a day late.... I am at my house. Floors are being worked on, kitchen is NOT available. Currently my scale is back up 3 lbs, but I am going to hope it is water weight as i am just not drinking as much fluids currently and have been traveling more (so more spdium intake as well)

The floors are completely up, and now they are trying to prep for the new floors. Some added stress recently entered my life so if you would pray about it for me. I think my gut reaction to it is just to leave facebook..... Mostly beacuse I am a coward.

So far this week I'm doing ok. I tracked all my food, and got my exercise in on Monday and Tuesday. I'll have to do a little extra to make up for missing today. My superhero hubby got my treadmill upstairs to its new home (we had moved it when we rearranged the living room to put up the tree), so I should at least be able to do that each day, even if I don't get a workout in that works upper body as well.

Oh yes, December, how is it the end of the year already? I don't know why but since the cold weather has come, exercising is just not happening consistently. My goal for December is to not hit 140 again. I'm really not sure if I can lose any more weight ( at least not a goal worthy weight, I think my weight will fluxucate +/- 2 pounds) but I know I don't want to go back into the 140's. Sweets are definately going to be a struggle this month.

Yen, good luck with the tracking. Sometimes I find that more frustrating than helpful.

Mary, I'm sure you will be happy when everything at the house is done. Great news on the blood work.

Running-I don't know what to tell you about the running. I certainly can't seem to stick to any training program for running.

As for my tendonitis, I have on a split and am on an antiflammotory med but the dr said it could take 2-3 weeks to heal. It's really the wrong time of year for such stuff, it hurts to even use the sciccors.

I'm starting this month up more than a pound from last week's weigh-in. My goal for this month (in addition to getting my exercise in) will be to start tracking my food again- all of it! Sweets are my biggest obstacle in living a healthy lifestyle. If I have them in the house, that's all I want to eat. But I know from experience that if I'm looking at those numbers, I'll control myself a little better. I'll check in on Sundays and Wednesdays.

Runningoma, I'm glad you had such a nice anniversary! Your hubby sounds so sweet!

Paliz, I'm glad your heat was fixed so quickly. This isn't the best time of year for that to happen :-) Sorry to hear about the tendonitis. Is there anything you can do for it, or do you just have to be careful with it and rest it?

Mary, it sounds like you've been quite busy. I'm so glad all of your labs came back healthy!!! If that isn't a reward for all of the effort you put into living a healthy lifestyle, I don't know what is. What a compliment that your hubby prefers your cooking to restaurant food! I always feel like I'm getting a huge treat when we eat out. Enjoy your visit with your mom!

Have a wonderful Sunday, ladies!

Okay, so I weighed myself this morning, and I am at 183.6. I hope to work on drinking all my water this month and I need to come up with an exercise plan, since the weather isn't so good for running. Maybe I can finish the month being in the 170's.

Welcome to December!

I am not sure how much I am going to be on this week as I am going to go visit my parents while I wait for the general contractor to call and say my new flooring is in town for my house. I will be back by next week, because I am NOT leaving hubby, just trying to spend time with my mom who seemed to be disappointed I did not stay last week. I had a GP appt yesterday. Their scale only reflected a 8 lb loss over the 3 months I had been away, but I got the results back of a bunch of labs I had had drawn. Everything showed up as healthy! This is incredible news because hubby's lbs show him as having bad cholesterol and they thought it was a combination of genetics and bad (current) diet. I am unsure what to make of that....But he remains on medication to help lower his numbers, because I want him around!

Goal for while I am out of town, not to eat too much crap food and to not ruin what I have worked for thus far. Good luck Girls!

Mary,
mom to 4 beautiful children that deserve a healthy and active mother
