Good job, everybody, getting something done!!! It's better than nothing; sitting on the couch watching life go by!

My November went exactly as I'd hoped, except for the weight loss. I got in at least 2 days a week of exercise; much more some weeks, but with two rest weeks and Thanksgiving week in there, I was proud of the effort I put in. The scale only went down 2 pounds, but, again, it's better than none. I'm back to at least my bench pressing and a few arm exercises trying out my hand. Don't want to stress it out too much at first. Looking forward to December when I will be adding my deadlifting back to the mix.

Keep up the good work!!
Charla

So I have exercised 3x so far this week but my weight was up this morning by just over a pound. I'm not overly upset but yet kinda am. I also have found out that I have tenditis in my wrist so that's putting upper body strengtening on hold. anyways i hope everyone has a great weekend.

Ok here is my Wed. Check in, kids are out oftown this week. Monday i got to play chase the fil, tuesday I actually got to do some shopping and painting like I had planned to do Mon. My oldest daughter's room is now a cheery shade of purple, and my thighs say that I did a squats work out. I have been eating decently, but not cooking in the kids absence as hubby wanted a couple of dates ( we hadn't had any in years) after eating out a twice tho, hubby has requested I make a meal because he just does not enjoy what he gets when we eat out as much as my cooking. So now I have the challenge of not cooking for our army.

This afternoon I am flooring shopping hopefully we canfinish this up soon. I will find out the est date of completion. I may extend the kids vacation and finish the house in their absence if we can get this done by the end of next week.

If things continue as my scale demon says this morning I will have another loss on my official weigh in day. Have a happy Wed. Be blessed!

Wednesday Check in!

Running, sounds like a great time away together.

We have our regular heat again which is so nice. I've exercised 2x so far this week and hope to keep up the trend. We have some errands to do today but nothing too taxing.

Paliz - so sorry about the heat and the long night. Hope things are repaired and functioning again.

Back from our anniversary celebration. It was so nice to have some time alone with my DH. We have been married 31 years. He is such a wonderful husband and I am very privileged to be his wife. The hotel was great and we had a gym and pool and whirlpool. Did lots of walking. My DH took the spotlights that were on the headboard of the bed and pointed them at the ceiling to make a heart. I know, you are all saying, "Ahhhhhhh". It really was one of those sweet little things. He also wrote me a nice card and got me a candle holder that is mounted on the wall.
Ate too much while we were gone, but will be right back on track in the morning.

In CHRIST I can!

So Friday had gotten away from me but Saturday showed a small lost. Last night our main source of heat died so it's been a long night.

I did horribly with my exercise this past week. I think I only worked out 1 or 2 days. Thankfully, I must have done better than I thought at regulating what I ate, because the scale stayed the same.

Rachel, gret job on losing that 11 lbs! You're wise to keep your loss "slow and steady". It's easier on our bodies and more likely to stay away when we do it that way.

Running, thanks for telling me about the holiday. That sounds like one we could all make good use of. Enjoy your anniversary!

Mary, congrats on your loss this week! I hope you enjoy being child free. Every now and then I'm without my kids for a day. Sometimes I get so much done, and sometimes I don't know what to do with myself.

Hope you ladies all have a good week!

Driving the kids to my mom's today. appts at Mayo postponed until we finish repairs at the house. Hopefully we can do a lot of work on the house while they are gone in regards to the flooring. While they are gone I also hope to paint and purge rooms. This will be the first time I have been without children in nearly 5 years other than having my teen babysit for me in hour intervals.

Yen - It was Prayer and Repentance day. Only our state in Germany has this holiday. The other states have gotten rid of it. For most, it is just another day off of work. When they have holidays here, everything is closed - grocery stores and malls, etc. Also Sunday all the stores are closed. The gas stations and resturaunts are usually open. And, most stores are closed by 9pm. When I first move to Germany, the stores were also closed by noon on Saturday. It took a while getting used to this.
Rachel, where do you live that you have snow to go sledding in?

I have a bunch of things to do today. My DH and I are going away tomorrow after church until Tuesday to celebrate our anniversary. I probably won't be back until we get home.

In CHRIST I can!

Hi again! Yesterday was my weigh in day and I was down another pound. I've lost 11 pounds in 11 weeks and I'm half way to my goal! So weight loss has been slow but steady and I'm happy with that.

I decided to go with 4 smaller meals (under 250 calories) plus dinner (under 400 calories.) So far that's been working really well for me. I feel a bit hungry in the evenings, but I have energy for when I need it (during school and workout times.)

I went sledding today with the kids and they really loved it (me too!) It's such great exercise.

Just checking in quickly here. I haven't been sleeping enough this week, and I've let my tiredness completely derail me from my goals. I haven't been eating well, and I think that's adding to my feeling of grogginess. It's a vicious cycle. Today was a wonderfully relaxing day (we visited with our dear neighbors most of the morning/early afternoon, then I finished planting our garlic and got several small chores accomplished around the house), so I'm hoping to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to get back on track tomorrow morning.

Mary, I hope your floors are done by Christmas- what a nice gift! You didn't even know you wanted that for Christmas, did you? Hee hee. Glad to hear you're back down to your SW. You're doing great, especially with these loops life is throwing at you!

Runningoma, and Paliz, it sounds like you're both doing well at getting back on track this week. Running, what is the holiday you celebrated today? Is it similar to Thanksgiving, or something totally different? I enjoy learning about how people live in other parts of the world.

Hope you all enjoy a very blessed Thanksgiving!

This holiday season I am getting the gift of new flooring on the first floor of my house. There is hopes that this will be completed before Christmas. Until then it seems my poor housekeeping skills will look even worse as things get turned upside down as we rearrange things for the contractor to come in. Luckily many things can be moved upstairs.

As far as my weight loss goes, I think I am doing well. My scale demon was nice to me this morning, but my official weigh in day is Saturday, so it may have been toying with my head.

Today I hope to get my head together enough to school my children and finish meal prep for tomoroow.

Good Wednesday morning friends. So yesterday I did a 5 minute stair rountine and that was it. We are doing some rearranging so I couldn't get to my treadmill yesterday. Thankfully dh moved it last night so I can use it today. I have hurt my wrist so I'm not doing upper body this week.

Back in order? *laughs* Ummmm, no. The washer ruined my wood flooring. The insurance company was called and we now have a good portion of our house missing flooring. Areas where there was once carpet have been pulled up. Dehumidifiers that stand as tall as my chest have run all weekend. I await a call from my insurance ompany to tell me the name of he general contractor coming to work in my house. I did not expect a washing mashine incident to have caused so much havoc....the water mitigation team says they should be able to pull equipment out today. So I am hoping we can have this repaired completely by Christmas.

In other news my weekend weigh in brought me back to my monthly starting weight of 205.8. I am going to try to not to regain these 2 lbs again.

Yesterday DH and I got a 12 mile bike ride in and I have been tracking more faithfully. Yesterday I stayed in my calorie range, today I am over, thanks to my generous cookie giving neighbors! Actually, no, they didn't stuff them in my mouth, I made the choice. In any case, if I didn't eat those cookies, I would not have been over! That is my worst danger food...

Busy day today with church, then choir practice, home for a quick bite to eat then back to church to do some counselling.

I had a pretty good week. I got my exercise in every day but one again, and did extra each day. I started tracking my food again too, but wasn't as faithful with that. My oldest daughter turned 15 on Thursday, and my mother-in-law came up for afew days to visit, so we had a lot of celebratory eating this week :-) All in all I did well. I lost that pound I gained last week, so I must have worked off a lot of the junk I ate. This week's goal is to continue my exercise streak and to start tracking everything I eat.

Running, I'm so thankful to hear that your DH and DD are ok! God is good. Keep us posted if there is anything new to report.

Paliz, sorry to hear about your trouble getting motivated. I go through that too, and it's tough to get out of. I think fall is a time when we naturally want to eat a lot and hibernate :-) You started off the week well with your exercise- maybe if you try "competing" with yourself to see if you can do a little more each week, you'll get some motivation back.

Mary, sounds like you've had a crazy week! Is your house back in order yet?

Rachel, welcome to the thread! I can relate to your excitement about the whole weight loss process becoming "demystified". It's so much easier to accomplish a goal when you know how to go about it, isn't it? Hee hee.

Hope you girls all have a great week! I'm off to pick up my daughter from choir practice and then I plan to plant garlic. I love working in my garden when there's not much work to do! When there's a lot to be done, it becomes "work" though, and I have no desire to do it. Strange how that happens.

So not weight change this week which amazes me based on little exercise, horrible food choices topped with where I am in my cycle. I don't know why but I just can't seem to get back in the exercise groove. The really sad part is that my dh has been starting earlier this week so in theory I could have my work out done before most of the kids wake up. Oh well. Hopefully it's just a stage and I'll get back into the swing here soon.

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Wow, what a blessing to come here and find out that you all have been praying for me. I appreciate that more than you know!
DD's iron is low, and she is obviously still recovering. She went home and then had one really bad night of pain, but she is doing much better. The baby initially lost 6 oz but then gained 2 so was allowed to come home. She was only 6 pounds to start with. My DD is really small - 5' 2" and weighs only 110 soaking wet. She is the only person I know that could put on her wedding dress 2 weeks after the baby is born! We had decided that since I was just there in August that I wouldn't fly for the birth of the baby. Her MIL is there to help.

My DH spent 8 hours in the ER. They did an xray, EKG, blood work, etc. His heart is perfectly fine. They think it was muscular. I am very glad he went in though. We have a friend who had chest pain, age 42, and didn't get it checked. 4 days later he was with the Lord. He left a wife and 5 small children behind. Chest pain is nothing to fool around about.

Okay, I gotta run. We need to eat and leave the house in 45 minutes for volleyball, then I need to do some counselling afterward with a young lady. I read your posts and will try to connect with you all again tomorrow.

Thanks again for your concern and prayers!

In CHRIST I can!

Yesterday was rough, but if we didn't have bad days then we would not be able to recognize the good ones. Todays plan of action, fold lots of towels and school work. For lunch we are having whatever gets thrown together and dinner is the incredibly unhealthy tatertot casserole. If i have time i might try to get the house better organized for when Lee's Aunt and Uncle come this weekend to visit with Father in law. That man may live in a nursing home, but no one can say his family neglects him. He has visitors at least every other day that take him off campus.

My bad day not near as bad a the bad ones Running Oma has been having... Does anyone know how her daughter has been recovering from that bleeding in the c-section or if her hubby's chest pains have been identified? We need to keep her family in our prayers.

Oh, I'm glad that I found this thread! Wednesday is my weigh in day so I'll post here and share about the ups and downs of my week. I was so, so happy to see that I was down 1lb this week. I learned that you need to have a calorie deficit of about 3500 calories to lose a pound. For some reason I find that knowledge very encouraging. Maybe because now I know how to lose weight. It's not this strange mystery that I have to decode.
I only went over my calorie intake goal once this week and got in my 20km of run/walk. :)

I have been logging my food faithfully for 4 days now. I know that isn't a lot, but considering the last month, it is great.

My DH just went to the hospital with some chest pain....please pray.

I missed my check in yesterday- I was happily ignoring my internet connection all day :-) God blessed us with some beautiful weather, and I took advantage of that to dig up my carrots from our garden. They were still growing great, so I probably could have left them, but I didn't think we'd get another day in the 60s this year. Trying to dig up carrots with fingers that are going numb isn't fun! So I now have a couple of bags of scrubbed, chopped organic carrots in my freezer.

Anyway, I did well with being consistent with my exercise this past week. I think I only missed one day, and all but one day I exercised longer than I planned, so I am happy with myself. Unfortunately, with all the exercise I was getting, I gave myself free license to eat whatever I wanted, and in whatever quantities I wanted. So I gained a pound this week.
emoticon

This week I want to start watching what I'm eating (again) in addition to my exercise. I've got to get back to that food tracker!

Hope you girls are all having a good beginning to your week!

So I never got to check in on Friday. The scale was up about 2.5 but I'm not surprized. I thought it was too low 2 weeks ago and considering I only exercised once last week and had a lot of junk, I'll be happy it was only 2.5 pounds. I'm trying to do better this week and have exercised today. Hopfully I can make healthy food choices too.

Welcome to our newcomer. It's nice to see you becoming active on the board.

Mary, That is really weird. could it be cycle related? Or just a fluke of the scale? I hope you see better results on your next weigh in.

Color me baffled. This week, less sitting at a sewing machine. Less grab and go fast food. I even avoided indulging in the free cotton candy, funnel cakes, pancakes, and other nutritionally void crap at the fun fair that we walked for 3 hours the other day. Yet I have fought my body tooth and nail all week not to gain weight. (on Wed morning the scale had shown a 4 lbs gain instead of this 2)

Charla, i am glad you have joined us on the boards. We do our best on this thread to cheerlead each other. I. Look forward to hearing how your new routine works out for your body!

Mary

Thanks for the welcome! I've technically been a member of this sparkteam for about 4.5 years and still don't quite understand how the boards work, but I thought I'd go ahead and give it a try.

My plan for late Oct. and November was cardio and lifting , then this week, one day of lifting and two days of mild cardio, compete tomorrow the 10th, then a week of light cardio (hopefully 3-5 days), then back to my regular 3 days of lifting and 3-5 days of cardio. I have to play the lifting by ear, though, because I'm still recovering from a strained tendon in my hand.

I went ahead and invested in myself and joined a SnapFitness place that just opened up near me and bought a Richard Simmons Foodmover system. LOVE both!! I'd been so stuck with my weight and getting frustrated with it all, but I've lost at least 6 pounds in the last 3.5 weeks. It's really helped me see where my calories are supposed to be going. Then tracking exactly on here how many calories I've eaten is a plus!

Looking forward to cheering you all on!
Charla

Sometimes we have to changes things up to really get results from our bodies. So don't make a habit of having a high calorie lifestyle, and get back to doing all the wonderful things you do. Good planning, I won't say luck, as you move into a new week to see wha it holds for you.

I'm here. I was down one pound this week from last week. But the way I ate, not sure I really deserved it.

Yes, we are to pray for those in authority over us.

It's my Wednesday check in. I am here. The scale is not being friendly at this point in time. I don't think I have done anything differently tha last week. Maybe I have been stress eating with Father in law in town now and just don't realize it? Regardless I will see how my official weigh in goes on Saturday.

Since yesterday was an election day I encourage everyone to Pray for our nation regardless of if your chosen candidate won, thank God for giving us the ability to vote in the USA, and to help provide Leadership to our President.

Wednesday check in! My week is off to a very bumpy start. No exercise and way too much junk (that I'm just craving more of) Hopefully today I'll get it turned around.

Nice to see some of posting again.

I got a good 3 mile run in this morning. I have to work harder at logging my food. Plan in motion.

I almost missed this thead. Got really behind and hoping to get caught up and on track. I hosted an American Thanksgiving for 18 yesterday so the last couple days I was on my feet a lot and did so much cooking and baking that I should not have to make much else for the week! I did freeze some things. We also had a baby dedication today. I just planned more pie to put out for today.
I am expecting company tonight again. They are staying overnight and then tomorrow the parents are going away and leaving with us their 3 children. Should be another busy week, but I am determined to exercise and log my food.
Then tomorrow another friend and her friend and 3 kids are coming for dinner. Turkey a la King is on the menu.
One victory amidst all this business is that I did get out for a run yesterday morning. Tomorrow could be challenging to get a run in, but I am going to try.

In CHRIST I can!

My goal for November will be to get back to doing my cardio 5 days/week. I got off track when we got the puppy early in the summer, and since then have been pretty hit or miss. I've been staying roughly at the same weight for over a month now, and I need to get back on track if I want to lose anymore.

Mary, sorry to hear about the eye appointment- how frustrating! Great job on staying away from the candy though! The scale shows you're doing wonderfully!

Paliz, glad to hear you're doing so well!!! Keep up the good work!

Frostycrops, welcome to our challenge! It's nice to see a new face here. I haven't been thinking about Christmas yet. Normally I've made a list and bought a few gifts by now, but this year seems to be flying by quickly. Hopefully I'll have time to start my shopping list today- I love planning the perfect gift for loved ones!

Welcome FrostyCrops! Join us for the month. Set some goals, or just check in to keep yourself accountable and see how things go. I am sure you will find this thread one that helps you along!

Paliz, I am glad that this week is going so well for you. Did some motivation get sorinkled on your cereal every morning? ;-) No matter what I am happy to hear progress is being made and that you are seeing it!

As for me, we have vision exams today for my second child and myself. The vision field test I was supposed to have yesterday (and waited 2 months for) was a failure since the office I showed up a failed to read the referral paperwork and did not have the equipment set up. they wouldn't have an appt available gor me again until I was at the Mayo clinic. Then they had the nerve to blame me for their incompetence.

I continue to avoid the kids candy stash. I tried a piece or 2 and it just doesn't taste very good.

Hello November! Well today the scale really likes me, so much so that I don't believe it. This week actually has been a good week. I have exercised 4 days, started tracking again and have set a course to follow til the end of the year. I hope everyone else is having a good week and that you all have a great weekend.
