Hey everyone! I am headed to the park on Friday (02/01/13) If you can make it maybe we can meet for a power walk or a meal? I usually go on Fridays so hit me up if you are headed there.

Hello out there! I'm dying to go. It's a five hour drive from where I live in AZ so I need to go for a couple of days at a stretch. Life has been so insane that I just don't see when I can make the trip. I'm going this year one way or another though. On that you can bet!!!

I'd go this weekend in fact if I wasn't moving.....Enjoy yourself!!

I just went on the 7th for my 7 year anniversary and it was perfect. The longest line was 20 minutes for Space Mountain without a Fastpass and it was a sunny, beautiful day.

I always forget to post here! Let's see... I went October 16th and it was still decorated for Halloween of course. Then I went a week and a half ago on Nov 17th and it was beautifully decorated for Christmas. It was a perfect day for parks. Hardly any people at all! Unfortunately I was there to see the midnight showing of Breaking Dawn and I had to get in line at 4pm so I didn't go on that many rides. I did manage to see the fireworks show and get a corn dog for dinner and I got "snowed" on in the process.

I went on Sunday and it wasn't too crowded. Haunted Mansion was already closed and getting ready for Halloween. I'll be at Walt Disney World in 3 days!

I'll be visiting one of my best friends in California and, of course, she's taking me and our other friends to Disneyland in May. She works there, so we get to visit her. I'm insanely excited. This will be my second trip there and hopefully can lose another 10 pounds by then!

13 days till I leave. Me and My friend are super beyond excited... So my parents usually take me to Disney every year for my B-Day ( which is in the summer). My dad really wants to go back at Christmas time. Since the economy us so rough for everyone I told my dad I would give up my B-Day trip next year so that we can go in December... He is so excited..

One of my best friends and I leave in 40 days. We will be arriving early on the 19th of dec. Spend all day on the 20th and drive home on the 21st. I went last year near christmas time and it was amazing. My friend has not been to DisneyLand in 20 years. I go at least 1x a year with my parents but this will be my 1st trip without my parents with me...

PS - the pedometers, while not likely to be entirely accurate, said we did about 4.3 miles per day. 13 miles in three days - yikes! Took me all of the past week to really recover.

I totally agree about staying off site...you can stay just as close to the park as the disney hotels, but you can stay four times as long for the price! :)

Hi everyone - I'n new in this team - not new to Spark - but I have trip planned for June 15-26th. We just went down in November for a few days and got season passes so we'll do this long trip in June and another before Thanksgiving. We tend to stay off site, within walking distance, to save money and this trip we are staying at a place we've never tried before but got a great rate for. Looking forward to it! Glad I found spark teams theat love Disney like I do!

Hey Trillian!

Sounds like you had an Awesome Day at DL!! I've been so busy the last couple of months, I haven't had a chance to go since my pass expired in May, but the hubby and I have enough saved and we're going buy premium ones for the first time in years next week friday for my best friend's birthday. I have to work so we'll be going in the evening. I hope it cools down more by then.. it's been miserably hot. Heading to Comic Con in SD tomorrow. The hubby and I are going to try and hit the Disney panel on Thursday. I so hope I can deal with the crowds, but it has been sold out since April so it will be crowded.

This isn't an upcoming trip, I wasn't able to get online to talk about it (and frankly between the memorial and getting re-acquainted with so many people from my past, making those old connections into new friends was far more important).

Anyway - so yesterday we went to DL for my BF's nephew's 21st birthday and he got in free with that new free on your birthday dealie.

I was nervous about it at first because the number of people varied considerably, but it ended up being just the 4 of us, which was perfect for my special handicapped pass. (Two people were supposed to join us but as the nephew said, they were lame.)

So, even though it was TOTALLY crowded, with my pass (and familiarity with the park) we were able to get on over 20 rides in just 12 hours ... SOOOOO amazing. And I was able to ride on things I've not been able to get on in YEARS like the Matterhorn.

It was so fun going with him and his friend - they were like little boys running around, so thrilled about everything. Everything was wonderful, everything was magical. And they LOVED that we could totally bypass the 60-90 minute wait lines. Seriously, this is the ONLY time in my life I've been joyful to be dysfunctional. All the years of suffering I went through were totally worth it for that one day.

They even got a kick out of going on the handicapped access for Space Mountain, going in that special car off to the right of the launch area, and then when the car was full, they slid us sideways into position. My BF and I didn't get why that was so cool but I loved they thought it so.

On Jungle Cruise we had a really great time ... my favorite part is the backside of water. I don't know why, I guess because it's so insanely silly. So Captain Dan was building us up ... sentence ... by ... sentence, and in each pause I lifted my hands and shouted "YEAH!" and soon everyone else was doing it too, and when he announced the backside of water we cheered so loud - it was so funny. Danny just didn't get it and was laughing and shaking his head, and then after that most of the boat got completely goofy and started shouting out all kinds of things. By the time we docked Captain Dan couldn't finish his spiel he was blushing and also laughing so hard. Best Jungle Cruise ever!!

We had a blast and also agreed that the two people who were to show up (with nephew's friends' camera) and didn't were completely lame. I mean, to get to go on so many rides, so easily? We did probably more than 90% of the people in the park could have as busy as it was.

And it was a good thing I brought two cameras as the friend wanted to take oodles of pictures and video but was counting on his friend to bring it since he forgot it at the house, so I let him borrow one of mine.

I also found Honey I Shrunk The Audience to be one of the MOST painful things I've done. I thought Small World was the worst, but no, it's HISTA. No way I'm EVER doing that again. My back and my day was pretty much screwed up after that.

And they really wanted to do Pirates, and as much as I hated it when I saw the changes, I was kinda OK with it this time, so maybe that's open to me again. I HAVE missed the ride.

Anyway .... wanted to share with people who'd get it!

Wow, the Disney Train was SOOOOOOOOOOOO cool!!!

If you have a chance, you should go - it goes into a lot of the background of the movie and you get to see some of the props, some original Dickens' materials, and you can preview some of the movie in 3-D.

BUT!!!!! THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!

If you have ANY physical challenges, and if you have little ones, BRING ALL YOUR COPING DEVICES, BRING STROLLERS. Honestly I'm not sure how much really little ones would get out of it.

But DANG, I so needed my wheelchair, forget the cane. People were asking me if I needed an ambulance because I kept having to lie down due to the pain of standing in the huge line.

And it may get even busier so you might want to also bring water and a sandwich! But it WAS really cool, really neat. Can't wait to see the movie!!

Oh, gosh, that was one of the frustrating parts - since I spent SO MUCH TIME at Club 33 (which was boooor-ing) I DIDN'T GET TO DO ANYTHING ELSE I planned to do at DL that day. And in fact missed out on one of the special Food & Wine Festival specials I WANTED to do. Ugh. It does NOT take more than 1 hour to do lunch people!!!!! Sheesh, I thought giving 2 hours was ample time, but it was NOT!

I thought on it further and had the thought that if you included a FULL PARK HOPPER DAY with the price(s) it would (might) be worth it - but I have an AP so it was silly, really, for me.

And no, no caviar, truffles or fois gras (I wouldn't eat the fois gras anyway, but I've learned to enjoy caviar recently) - they did have some incredible desserts ... but hey, we're SPARKERS - outside this dessert, I've not had the sugary sweet stuff since 2006!!!! And that was a special trip to Hawaii, beyond that, I'd not had that kind of treat since, um, maybe 2002. (I get fat on too many starchy carbs like brown rice, beans and whole grains, that's how my weight went back on after 2003.)

I can't quite figure out from the bill (and the server never explained and she wasn't ever there to ask) but I expected lunch to be about $50, but it was $75 before tip. So in theory, I suppose, if I had adequate info, the buffet itself would have been $50, and the buffet added another $20 (which increased the tax accordingly).

The Buffet was OK, but NOT worth $50 (unless that was the price for the Park Hopper pass, which would have made the price 1/2 what it would be at the ticket counter ... or similar by the time you added entree and tip, or whatever, point is I was expecting ~$50 and ended up spending nearly $90 just for the meal ... not including incidentals. So it would be more than that for one person to enter the park, so I suppose that's a valid point. But a SoCal resident can get a many, many day AP for only $140, so spending over $100 for one meal for a Park Hopper seems silly 'cuz you get so much more with the AP.

It WAS a once-in-a-lifetime thing, though now I can do it as often as I wish.

That is definitely a privilege, I understand that.

But also Disney has been seriously cutting back on "Disney Magic" the "Disney experience" for those of us who are single or disabled - and being there as a singleton AND disabled, well, that's a double whammy that'll bring anyone to their knees. And believe me, it sucks to be crying the "big ugly cry" complete with drool at "The Happiest Place on Earth" so I DO recognize they've been slacking ... and in areas that don't cost them a penny, let alone a dime. And I've been on the other side, a single &/or with a group able bodied ... Disney seems to whip out the red carpet for THAT side ... though honestly, those of us in MY condition are making MORE of an effort to be there, we MISS OUT on more, and it COST US MORE, so besides the existing massive limitations it seems they shouldn't make it a MISERABLE experience for us, but that's what they're more recent policy changes have meant. (Doubt the policy changers have been disabled - 'cuz I know from being on both sides if you're NOT disabled you don't get how truly, massively, insanely difficult being disabled is, and being disabled sucks.)

So ... honestly ... I don't know how much of my expedrience was simply from being a disabled singleton. I know Disney can truly SUCK in every sense of the word if you're in that category. Don't get me wrong, love Disney, but their policies ... well, ain't what they used to be.

So - Club 33, yes, suppose it's cool, glad to have been able to pass through the magical green door ... but knowing what I know now ... wish I could do a Vulcan Mind-Meld on everyone who wants to go so they can bypass the silliness and enjoy some decent (yeah, OK not so diet-great, but gosh-darn-honest-fun-and-Disney-Magical) fare at someplace like Hungry Bear Restaurant or Bengal Tiger Bar-B-Que ... or get WILD and crazy at the Blue Bayou or Arial's Grotto ....

SERIOUSLY - WAY MORE FUN!

I know, maybe I'm violating some sacred "Club 33 Rule" by saying "it ain't all that", but seriously ... it AIN'T all that.

Awww, I am sorry to hear that club33 was a disappointment! I was so excited for you, what a bummer that it wasn't more magical!! From what you wrote I am assuming it is like a buffet type of serving? For $100++ I hope they had some caviar or truffles or foie gras for you!!
Price wise, definitely sounds like one of those "once in a lifetime" type experiences! I hope you were able to enjoy the rest of your day at the park! Hope you still had time to do your favorites :)
Thanks for the review, I would still love to go myself, but after hearing how $$$ it is, maybe not!!

The Disney train tour is actually going to be across the country, but officially launching and starting tomorrow in Los Angeles. It's to promote the movie A Chrismas Carol coming out this November.

Here's a link:
disney.go.com/disneypictures/
christmas
caroltraintour/

We're going early tomorrow to beat the crowds.

For Club 33, well, wow. I expected to say so much joyous about it, but basically it was an incredibly priced restaurant, it cost me DOUBLE what I budgeted, not to mention incidental costs (not including buying souveniers), and so it was rather a shock.

I was put in a room all by myself, and basically left alone. I could have brought 40 people and they'd had room leftover. I didn't get any big spiel or to-do, and it was just like ... nothing. Nothing but outrageous cost and I missed everything else I wanted to do because I had to sit there for HOURS. HOURS. HOURS. I ended up eating and eating and eating just out of sheer boredom and something to do, and because people kept pushing food at me.

They were nice and all, and the place was nice and all, but I didn't get the big deal about it, honestly. I didn't feel any "ooh" "aah" or magic about it whatsoever. I felt far more joyousness and wonder, delight and enthusiasm simply walking through the Grand Californian ... and eating there is far easier and FAR less expensive!!!

As I was FINALLY, FINALLY, ***FINALLY*** able to get my check so I could FINALLY leave (my server took my order and disappeared for over 2 hours), other parties came in and WOW, there were servers EVERYWHERE, and they were getting the full-on "welcome to Club 33!" experience. I wasn't able to hear it all, but I heard enough to know that I was essentially ignored and treated like chattel.

Anyway, I really dislike having to say that, and I want to cry writing it (and I wanted to cry when I couldn't leave and then after I got the check and realized I had to pay double what I planned), I was extremely grateful I was there by myself (although if I wasn't alone perhaps I would have been given more consideration!) ... but that's the truth of my experience.

Honestly, I had far more fun eating later at Award Weiners, and next time I want a special expensive meal treat - I'm eating at Ariel's Grotto!

So ... I promised people I will take them, but now it's ONLY for them, and I absoultely can NOT afford that again, so we can only go if they pay.

I'm disabled, unemployed and unemployable, with zero income ... I CAN NOT AFFORD OVER $100 JUST FOR ME, JUST FOR LUNCH, WITHOUT DRINKS, NOT EVEN TEA.

Glad I went, sure, I got to go. Do it again - you literally have to pay me, or at least pay all my expenses so it's zero cost to me.

Nice things - it's ornate, it's beautiful, yes they do have monogrammed towels (I grabbed a bunch), and it's quiet, so if you have enough income for your family to hang out there it sure would be a nice break.

But for it to make sense for me, I'd have to be making at least $1,000 a month in income OVER expenses to make it make any kind of sense. Putting it on credit cards or even saving up for it seems really ridiculous.

Sad to say, sorry to say, painful to say, you've no idea, but that's the 100% truth of what I thought and felt about it.

Disney train thing sounds neat, I haven't heard of it. What sort of event is happening in your hometown?

Yeah, looks pretty neat! I will bring quite a bit of cash for the adventure (next Tuesday, so I have to wait a few more days!) and see what we will see.

My BF just told me there is some Disney train thing in Los Angeles next weekend - have to see what it's about but I may extend my trip back. Then it'll be a rush! There's something I REALLY want to do starting on the 15th through the 25th here - so I'd have to jet back and then jet to the very last couple days of this primo important event ...

Crazy!

Yeah, it's pretty cool - you can ONLY get the merchandise if you are a member (you can get in whenever you like) or if you have reservations. Or else you can find it on eBay, but to me that's just not the same (but I'm not above trying to make profit off it!!! I could use some dollars!!)

Here's what I read about the merchandse (easier to just copy and paste than re-write): Items consist of beautiful Sweaters, lapel pins, special holiday or event merchandise such as ornaments or pins, drinking glasses, watches, golf shirts and golf balls.

I found that on this website: www.disneylandclub33.com/item
sforsale.
htm

It's a very informative and detailed site!

Just for grins I thought I'd check out items on eBay. I think I'll print this out and take it with me for reference - if that glass costs $15 and sells for $40, that's a deal! Profit for me!! I'll have to see.

Anyway, not sure this link to the eBay search I just did will work, but let's try:

I was at an event a couple months back and hit it off with a guy who turned out to have worked for Walt Disney himself back in the day ... and, of course, I was an eager and captivated audience for all his stories!!

We connected really well, and he said he was willing to make reservations for me on his membership whenever I wanted (based on availability of course) - and he's been helping me here and there with my business too, so that's pretty sweet!

And I'll DEFINITELY post a review, maybe put up some pictures on my SparkPage. Hmmm, maybe I should buy some doo-dads to sell on eBay! There's exclusive merchandise available for purchase ONLY within the restaurant. And I read somewhere they have monogrammed paper towels too ....

How did you get reservations? Are you a member?
Sorry to hear your friend is a flake-o-matic...though I agree with you, I think I would rather go alone that with someone who wouldn't appreciate it.
Please post a review when you return! I would love to hear about your experience there!

Ricki, I totally hear you!

I never thought I'd have the chance either, and when it came up, boy you know I jumped at it!

Sounds like you and I are the same page on this - and honestly, I want to go with someone who will have all the "ooh" and "aah" and wonderment at it all, who understands this is a PRIVILEGE that's not available to just anybody. Not even Cast Members can get in - not unless they pay the very high membership fees.

So ... let's keep in touch and see if we can make this a treat for you too. And if you have family you want to bring, we can make reservations for everybody. Well, a small group at least.

Oh believe me.. I would totally take you up on your offer if I didn't have a mandatory training at work I'm unable to miss on the 19th or risk a write up.. boo them.

Club 33 is one of those elusive Disneyland places I never thought I get a chance to check out ;).

Oh, goody, someone who is JEALOUS because they GET WHAT IT'S ABOUT!! COOL!

So hey, at this point I have reservations for two, which means a seat empty and I'd rather go with someone who is into it than alone ... but I'd rather go alone than with someone who is going to be a grumbly-gus about it.

So ... maybe we can talk? The reservations DO include a ticket to the park.

I need to give final numbers by Friday ... not sure if I can add (I can try), but I definitely can have it remain reservations for 2 or change it to reservations for 1.

Oh, and if you simply can't make it on Tuesday but really want to go sometime, we could very likely work that out as I can make reservations again - it's not a one-time shot.

I'm jealous.. I've always wanted to check out club 33.

Good luck finding someone else to go with you.

I'm sad my pass expires on the 24th.. I've been thinking of renewing with the payment plan, but I just don't like having another monthly bill.. I prefer buying them outright. And I want the premium this year.. I usually go with the delux.

I'm going to DL next Tuesday, the 19th. AND I have reservations for Club 33.

And can you believe it ... I'm going ALONE because my friend decided he had to get up too early in the morning to get there on time ... after discussing this for months, he just bailed on me yesterday!

Crazy, man, crazy. If I was asked to go, I'd pay for both of us if I had to, to get in there! LOL!!

Sigh. Maybe I can find someone else to go with - but I need to have them commit by Friday. Not sure how much chance there is of that.

Just got back from a quick 2 day trip to DL, and FINALLY got to ride toy story mania...so much fun! Also got to check out the preview center for DCA, I am really excited to see all of the upgrades and additions over the next few years. We were there just a few days before the holiday decor/events were in full swing, so we are planning to try for another quick trip in Dec...

Our last family trip was at the end of July. We will be going again 11/21 - 11/25 so we can see the Christmas decorations. We are leaving Friday night for a quick (1 day) trip for our son's 16th birthday. I am still in shock that is what he wanted to do with his (gasp) parents. We will be leaving after his football game and hope to arrive in Anaheim around 6:30am. Then we get to spend all day in the Land having a great time before driving 10+ hours home on Sunday. It's going to be a crazy but fun trip. I can't wait.

I'm right there with you, I just got back from Disneyland in July and won't be going back until December but I can't wait! I was actually really bummed that I just spent last week off the coast of LA on Catalina Island and didn't get to make a pit stop at Disneyland. My silly traveling companions had no interest in visiting Disneyland on this trip. I don't know what's wrong with them!

Awwwww my next trip is nearly 5 months away, but I'm still sooooooooooooo EXCITED!!!! My mom and I just got back from our first trip to Disneyland together in over 10 years in early July and we've already planned a second!!! We're heading back to the happiest place on earth January 9th-13th and I'm just as excited today as I will be the morning we get up to head to the airport!! Not like I'd really sleep the night before anyway, but OMG!!!!

When we were there last month, we stayed at the Howard Johnson on Harbor Blvd. and we fell in love with a waiter that worked at the Mimi's Cafe located across the street. Since this next trip is in 5 months I'm wanting to be down at least 50 lbs (so is Mom) and we're hoping to shock the hell out of this cutie patootie that served us then. :0) His name was James and he's the sweetest guy ever!! Hmmm where was I going with this... Oh yeah!!! Mimi's Cafe! We have deemed it our favorite restaurant, because the french onion soup is to die for and they have some really good healthy choices on the menu.

Ok... I think I'm done, but I just wanted to share when my next trip was and how excited I am.

Favorite commercial quote... "We're too excited to sleep!!!!"

Second Star to the Right and straight on 'til morning!

I'm going to Disneyland in September--a little over a month away. I'm probably going to go off diet a little bit because I don't want to miss out on anything, but I do plan to watch my portion and split a lot of meals with my mom.

I will be doing a lot of walking and last time I went, I was off my diet and still managed to stay the same weight.

I like the buffets for breakfast. Lots of fruit and veggies. Get the latest time slot, around 11-11:30 and you won't be hungry again until dinner time. And here is my confession: I put lots of extra grapes, apples, and oranges in a ziploc in my son's diaper bag and that takes care of our snacks for the day. We also requested a microwave in our room where we had campell's soup for dinner. The kids thought that was sooo cool for some reason. We brought a lot of snacks for the hotel fridge. Fruit cups, low fat pudding, low sugar jello, v8. Oh here is another good one for the kids: peanut butter and pretzels for the park. Jif makes singles.

Joni

be grateful.

the time has finally arrived! I'm so excited! going to drive out to Anaheim in 4 hours. So excited I couldn't get to bed! I'll probably just wait for the drive with my family and sleep the whole way there. So excited that when I saw Indiana Jones @ the theatre, when I heard the Indy music, it reminded me of the ride @ Disneyland. Disneyland on the brain!
