Here is my alternative to protein powder (which in the best case is made from whey and is fairly highly processed). Make your own yogurt and for every half gallon of whole milk you get 1 quart of yogurt and 1 quart of whey which can be used by itself or with a small amount of flavoring of your choice. I like to add a few berries, although not very many during induction.
I don't believe it's on the list, though not on the prohibited list either, to my knowledge. Dr. Atkins would say "no", but Atkins Corporation might give it a nod. :P
Unless you're travelling and/or unable to pack a reasonable lunch, or lifting heavy, you will be much better off eating complete, whole foods. Boiled eggs travel well, are inexpensive, and have plenty of nutrients.
