All the best with your surgeries Nancy Jean! I know what its like to be on the surgery treadmill. Finally getting back into exercise again after being out of it since Dec. 23. One more surgery then maybe I can get a break finally.

Nothing since afternoon of 28 Oct 14 because of minor outpatient surgery where I hand an allergic reaction to the local anesthesia, which contained epinephrine, which I've never been allergic to before, but I sure am now!!! I'll be having a series of four major surgeries starting on the 7th of November. The pace of the surgeries will be set by this first surgery.

emoticon Nettie! Golf courses are beautiful with awesome grass.
Today I did 30 min elliptical, 35 min low impact DVD and 55 min step class. I am an exercise junkie and so happy to get back into it after being laid off since Dec 23 with a serious right arm problem. I am hoping I recover quickly from this third surgery on it so I have better balance using both arms.

I haven't been able to get myself to got walking other than what is needed to get around campus for work. Tonight I finally set up my Fit Bit and headed out the door. I set the stop watch on my phone. There is a golf course not far from my street that connects my neighborhood to campus. The steep roads have been a deterrent to walking very far, but today I headed down the golf course. The slope was gentler and walking on the grass felt nice. I walked to campus, ran into two families playing baseball with their 3 year olds and realized that one of the women was a friend of mine. I stopped to chat for a few minutes then headed back up the hill since it was getting dusky.

When I got home the stopwatch said I had been gone 36 minutes. The Fit Bit said I had 24 active minutes! I was hoping for at least 10. I had walked 1.08 miles - not speedy, but it's a start!

it took us 70 min to go the distance of 3.79 miles.
Today we did a very tough hike requiring us to grab onto things and in one instance slide down on our butts. Mom crawled on hands and knees on parts, but that wasn't an option for me, I relied more on balance and good shoe gripping. We went 4 miles and it took us 2 1/2 hrs.

You're right some movement is better than no movement! When I'm at the sink washing my dishes, I march in place and I get so many more steps than just standing there and twiddling my thumbs!

Thanks Nancy Jean! Not so young though, 52. Today spent two hours shopping around with Mom, then fast walked 1.5 miles home where I did an hour's worth of dishes. Some activity better than none lol.

Awesome work! I am recovering from major reconstructive surgery on my arm and a foot problem, but in spite of the pain, I hiked 3 miles (my surgery was a week and a half ago, was in a cast for a week). I miss my fitness classes, but don't know when I will get clearance to go back to them.
