So far all I've made/rated is Ooey, Gooey brownie for one that I'm not sure if it came out of this cookbook. I'll make it again using vanilla extract instead of the mint I used unless I can find some Adam's pure peppermint extract. Even then I'll cut down the amount I use.

I live alone and have created a cookbook for myself on Spark called Grammy's Yummies. It has some recipes for one, or no more than 4 servings, if you want to check it out.

The first step in getting somewhere is by deciding not to stay where you're at.

Yeah, I noticed the Private ones too. Go figure. I'm not sure if folks realize that they have to be public to be shared.

You can also create a cookbook or two or three of your own and add recipes to it. Don't know if that makes it easier or not.

I also find SparkRecipes at times hard to use. I wish you could limit by serving size or more than one ingredient. And, a lot of people use ingredients/substitutions that I don't have on hand, which makes it hard.

Looking forward to seeing your reviews of some of the recipes.

First off, I APOLOGIZE!!emoticon

After going back to the cookbook and checking the recipes closer I find that it should be very useful. Had to laugh though that 3 recipes are marked "private". I wrote down 7 recipes in a spiral and added those and several others to my cookbooks on this site.

Thank you so much for also telling me that I can search the recipes on this site for single servings. Once I get a chance to try the recipes I wrote down, I'll come back and rate them in the cookbook.

Sandyinky - glad you found it.

All - also note that to the right, underneath the scrolling window for Huddle and blogs that there are several links, including one called LINKS. There is also a link to the Team Cookbook under LINKS.

MoodyMolly --

Most of the recipes are for 4 or fewer servings, however, in the beginning some members submitted larger recipes as they do batch cooking. Because members submitted the recipes, I left them in the cookbook rather than delete them and then tightened the criteria for inclusion.

As with all group endeavors, there is a learning curve.

I'm sorry the cookbook disappoints you. You can also search SparkRecipes for the word Single and get several single serving recipes. Solo cooks cook differently and the early cookbook entries reflect this.

I just clicked on the cookbook link and the two recipes I clicked on were for 10 & 16 servings! Why on earth are you putting recipes like these in a "Cooking for one or two" cookbook? I have absolutely no use for such recipes! The reason I joined this team was in hopes I would be able to get recipes that were for only one or two servings. Would you please explain your thinking on this? If this is the type of recipes provided by this team I'm going to drop my membership. I can just use the regular recipes section if I want such large serving recipes. To say the least I've VERY disappointed in the cookbook.

I have not created a cookbook yet. I had a recipe file box. I did find it, but am trying to see how I can help others find it if they want to try the recipe. I will learn how to do it eventually. It just takes time.
I may start a cookbook and that will work out. Thanks.emoticon

I find SparkRecipes somewhat hard to navigate. My best advice is any recipe you want to keep track of, add it to your SP Cookbook. Hopefully, you'll be able to find it again.

Hi Adlins,
Thanks for your help. It is actually 4 servings in the recipe. I usually make it and have it for one meal and the next day and freeze two servings for another time,
maybe a week later. Should I still try to do the add a link? Let me try and see if I can.
Thanks so much.

Hi Irishei! If you can grab the link and post here (using the Add a Link button above the message box), I can add it to the team cookbook (if it's for 2 or less servings). If not, having the link will make it really easy for others to find.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi, I'm new to this site, Cooking for One or Two.
I added a recipe to Spark Recipes and it is in my recipe box. It is actually an old recipe from WW.
It is called "Barbeque Turkey Joes". Let me know if you find it and like it.
I'm Ei and am also in W8Watchers and follow another support team, called, Fun loving people over 60.

Wow. They've changed the site. A week or so ago, I could browse the cookbooks and that wasn't really obvious tonight.

I did hit a couple of cookbooks, finally, and don't think you can add them to your cookbooks. You can bookmark the site or create a cookbook and add the recipes you really like from the team cookbook to your cookbook.

There are many, many cookbooks and recipes on Spark People. Go to the toolbar at the top of the page, click on Healthy Lifestyles, scroll down to SparkRecipes and click on that. You can type in the recipe you are looking for and there are links to the cookbooks. You can even create your own cookbook here. Hope this helps.

Good idea about the fix and freeze cookbook! I, too, am not good with portion control and have an odd way for doing some of my meals. However, I see-saw back and forth between pre-pared and cooking and would much rather cook.

In the beginning, recipes were submitted for larger batches, as some members prefer to freeze. We did change that, but I did not go back and remove recipes for "batches" at that time. Sorry for any confusion.

I think this has been a good exercise - a reminder of knowing what you are eating/using. One other commenter on the recipe mentioned it was good for two. I think that's even better. Two desserts instead of one.

Oh! Yeah, I have found that recalculating the recipe with ingredients I have that there can be quite a difference. Sometimes more, sometimes less.
The brownie was really good. I will just make sure there is someone around who will eat the other half for me! LOL!

I think I may have it. I think the difference is in the margarine.

Here's what I had:

flour, .1666 - 75 calories
cocoa, .1666 - 50 calories (based on about 2.5 tablespoons at 20 calories per tablespoon)
Egg beaters, .1666 - 20 calories (An egg has about 70 calories)
Promise, fat free margarine - 15 calories (5 per serving)(Promise LIGHT has 45 calories per tablespoon for 135 calories as opposed to 45)

total - about 180, which is still more than 126.

Couple of things about SparkRecipes that give me pause. You don't know the actual calories amounts that match the products. She listed some by name (i.e. the Promise and the Splenda) but not the flour. Her brand could have less calories than what I pulled up for generic, which is 455 calories per cup). And, you have to use the exact brands/ingredients to get the calories as they are calculated, which we've just discovered can vary drastically with just a few changes.

This time I came up with: ( I may have used regular margarine the first time; my apologies.) But, I still come up with over 300 calories. Maybe I'm changing it over wrong... 1/6 cup is ONE divided by six = .1666 Is that correct?

Flour, white, .1666 cup
Cocoa, dry powder, unsweetened, .1666 cup
Egg, fresh, 1 medium
Promise, Light Margarine, tub, 1 Tbsp, 3 serving
Splenda, 16 tsp

I'm puzzled and still curious. It's one serving. I also did the math and came with about 170 (flour was 75 and generic brand). Everything I could find for Splenda said no calories (this is not the sugar mix), 3 tbsps of Promise Fat free is 15 (5 per tbsp) calories, the cocoa is about 50, the egg about 30 (that's 1/4 cup so it would be less). I didn't count the vanilla.

How did you get 400 plus calories?

Yes. That one. I thought it looked really delicious (and it was) Made me upset, though... after I ate half of it, I recalculated and there are a LOT more calories than it says!
So, I trashed the other half...
Maybe the poster forgot to calculate the flour or something.

Which brownies? I went through the cookbook and only saw Microwave brownies for one. I'm very curious.

Once you create a cookbook, it's easy to access from your SparkRecipe page. I believe you can bookmark a cookbook recipe just using you're browser's function. I don't see a way to make a favorite on the site itself.

Also, I tried to look at your cookbook and it's not available. I'm guessing it defaulted to private. You can make it public.

About adding recipes whole sale from a magazine. I worry about copyright. See what the magazine says about copyright. No problem adding them to the recipe calculator (I've done that for many, but I don't submit them to SP) and probably you could add one or two. However, adding every recipe from a magazine could entail copyright violations. Just a thought.

Thanks but unfortunately I had the pumpkin a week and a half ago, so its done, now. I burned them. I used olive oil and baked them for about 15 minutes but they weren't done yet, so I turned up the oven a little..and I burned them.

I just put the pumpkin seeds on a cookie sheet that was sprayed with canola oil and baked them at 350 for about 7 minutes. After about 3-4 minutes I used the spatula to move them around a bit just to make sure they weren't burning. When they were finished I added a little salt and Voila! Good luck!

I have some pumpkin seeds I would like to bake - anyone know how to do this? Do I just put them on a pan, with some oil?

Hi Scrubs. Yeah... I did solicit feedback on the serving size and will be more vigilant in the future. I will either figure out how to cut the recipe down or take it out of the cookbook.

Thanks!

hi there

for the curry chicken what i usually do is put it the sauce from the night before so it could take on the flavor. with the powder i add some oil just enough so i could coat the chicken (not to thick you be the judge), then i add some salt just a pinch and some ketchup (if no one likes it that hot or else i leave it alone). i mix it all together in a bowl and leave it over night, i use chicken wings or breasts. i bake it in the oven and i use the use the sauce to keep it moist, or even the bbq is great. don't use to much curry powder though. i almost forgot if you are doing this in the oven, for the last 5-10min put it on broil so they could become crispy. enjoy

The recipe for Creamy Stove-Top Mac n Cheese sounds really good, but since it's EIGHT servings I'm a little confused why it's in the Cooking for One or Two Cookbook. I'll never be able to eat that much macaroni!

I have a question. Anyone know where I can find a good, easy recipe for Curry chicken, or Tandoori Masala chicken? I bought the spice powder, have no idea what to do with it!

Thanx,
